  1. All Xbox Ones have an HDMI input. It's a feature I thought they would remove for the S, but they didn't.
  2. We'll see. I already do this, and I really don't think it will be too much trouble. Hooking them up is part of the ritual. And putting them away keeps dust off.
  3. They're both great systems. Do yourself a favor and check them out. Especially TG16. Fortunately no one took the bait.
  4. This topic is flame bait. The OP just stated that owning a Dreamcast and TG16 are unnecessary.
  5. I'm building my first dedicated classic gaming room now, and I see no point in having all consoles out and connected. People who do that are prioritizing showing off museum pieces over functionality. My plan is a simple table with a large CRT and stereo. An easily accessible power strip. There will be room for one or two systems out at a time, with the rest tucked away in their own drawers. Rather than a scart switcher, one system will be connected at a time. I see no reason to connect consoles I use maybe once or twice a year. The sides of the room and everywhere else it can fit will be shelves with games.
  6. Later US CDs like this game had no box. We foolishly sold off our TurboChip version after buying the CD.
  7. I've never been to a convention. Maybe I would like it. It's hard for me to see the benefits of attending. I have the online community as a resource, and for the most part I'm not interested in the social aspect of the scene. The con scene, which seems to dominate the main Youtube personalities bears no personal relevance to me.
  8. Cool. That's funny. My brothers don't want to upload anymore arcade playthrough vids because they feel it distracts from the scripted content we now make. Now if only they would make some more videos... Plus most of our arcade boards now need to be recapped. That would be awesome if you could point me in the right direction with this TV. I'm moving soon so I might look at it sometime when that's all finished. Do you think it's high difficulty for someone who hasn't attempted one of these CRT mods before? The screen is also really scratched up at this point from moving too many times, so I need to look at whether I can buff those out too.
  9. I've found modding to be an interesting aspect of the hobby. To a point at least. Watching RetroRGB, they keep coming up with new mods and cables for consoles, while I'm still happy with the original SNES 1-chip AV mod I did. At some point it's just more stuff piled on top of solutions that are already good enough, and news fatigue sets in. No idea why so many people in this thread indicated interest in mobile gaming. That is purely a casual realm and holds no appeal to me.
  10. I've been using almost or possibly this exact TV since I bought it new. Now you've got me interested in doing this.
  11. I wouldn't have sold or traded any of my games and consoles. I made some infamously bad trade-ins as a kid. I would have kept all my original stuff and played everything.
  12. Why not? Scart is a viable solution for RGB for me here in the US, for both my Framemeister and CRT. I use a scart to component adapter for my CRT. Others who want to get more serious use a PVM or mod a TV for RGB. iceman, you completely failed the thread that got locked. You proved you didn't know much about this topic. But I hope you learned something.
  13. I would say they haven't aged very well. They are sort of a product of their time. Which makes me concerned for the success of the third game. There will hopefully be enough fans, new and old, to buy it, but I wonder what the reception will be.
  14. Maybe some people think that because there are mods you can do anyway (CSYNC, SNES jr, etc), even though these consoles are RGB-ready.
  15. Doesn't surprise me. I can't find a trace of most of my favorite local 90's game stores online now.
  16. SMS, MD/Genesis, SNES, Neo Geo, Saturn, PS1, every arcade PCB, nearly every Japanese computer system. RGB is the most authentic. Even most systems without RGB output start with RGB before it gets encoded to composite and S-video. RGB is the language of retro consoles.
  17. Sure, if you only buy new. CRT's don't even stay plugged in when not in use. My main fear is just generally wearing out from old age.
  18. Electric cars better be ready to replace combustion engines or we're all screwed. I've been dumbfounded by the slow adoption of electric cars, and finally concluded that people are stupid assholes, myself notwithstanding (our two cars are hybrids, not electrics).
  19. That will be time for an RGB upscaler. My wife isn't a gamer, but she supports my gaming. She is not a fan of moving with the two CRT's I currently own (one's in storage).
  20. I pre-ordered from Amazon within the first couple days and it hasn't shipped. I keep getting updates that it will ship months from now, which I heard is normal for Amazon Japan.
