Those boxes look phenomenal! You really captured the 2600 feel and kept it looking retro and modern at the same time. I love 'em
+1Thanks! Appreciate the kind words

also ask what a matte foil-lamination would cost. this would be a major improvement for those boxes. much more longevity, stability, no more fingerprints on there, no scratches ...
Will do. Thanks!

That is one sweet-looking room!

yeah i can imagine that sucks out the ink cartridge within a few prints ... you need to find someone that has an EPSON 3000 or similar ... then you can print them in 1 piece ...
I'm trying to see if the printer my company works with can get me some nice digital prints. Fingers crossed.
-
Did you print that yourself or take it somewhere? And was it on white paper? And if so, how much ink did that take?!
I printed it at home on my ink jet printer using glossy photo paper. I used a template that separates the box into two parts, so i was able to print each on 8.5 x 11. The color/quality of my ink jet printer sucks. The photos actually make the box look better than it actually was -- the black printed a dark smokey grayish color, even though I set the color to 100% black. Go figure.
I printed it using "Fine Quality/High Res" so, needless to say, it used a lot of ink

When and if you sell them! count me in....
Will do. Working on getting some pricing. Pretty expensive, I'm finding, to get a box printed and assembled. We'll see. I'd love to get a few of them printed so that people could buy 'em.

Thanks, man!

Not as pretty as my Photoshop comps, but getting there. Printed the Space Invaders box using the templates I found here. Was pretty hard to score, since the ink scrapes off the glossy photo paper when you bend it. I also didn't shore up the paper with card stock, so the box is a little warped. Oh, yeah, I had to tape the sides too. OK, it's nothing like my Photoshop comp, but it's still cool to hold a 3D version of the box in my hand

I did a search but couldn't find anything usable. Does anyone have, or know where I can go to get, a template for an Atari 2600 box that has the die line included?
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I'm looking for something I would send to a printer, not something I would print at home.
Thanks!

It would be nice too if every homebrew sold by AA store has your design.
AA is now a big producer of VCS games and I think it deserves its own design, like Atari, Activision, Imagic...
Starting with yours

L.E.M. is a really fun game, and I highly recommend it.

Very cool artwork, have you considered posting these on The Cover Project? I'd love to see these adapted for Universal Game Cases!
I wasn't even aware of that site. Once I make some high-resolution versions I'll be sure to upload them there.
Thanks!

The Mantis ET. Not a lot of frames to him, but he's a bit of a complicated sprite, and I can't find enough time to work on him. So I'm posting what I have and calling him done.
I'll be posting more simple sprites as they are what I have time right now, and jumping into threads and whipping up sprites as I see fit.
For example... atari2600lands' Plim.Nice! If your sprites don't get into a game at some point, it would be a shame. You do some really nice work with such a limited palette.

Following in the series of Extraterrestrial aliens, presented here is the next set of sprites... and yes, in some cases it kinda looks like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, or loosely, the Gorn from Star Trek.
Nice! Or the sleestak from the Land of the Lost

Maybe a Land of the Lost 2600 game is in order...

I remember rushing home from school to watch the early 80's version of the show.
You're right though, they do look like the sleestak creatures... just ever-so creepy.Hahaha. Me, too. I had a Land of the Lost lunch box! I was so disappointed by the Will Ferrel remake.

Brian O, I helped Albert out with research and pricing for some AA boxes a while back, and this could possibly done on a digital press, though you'd still have to spend the money for the die to be made. Let me know if I can help.
Thanks! PM sent.

Thanks to jahfish, I now have box art.
The question is should I start taking pre-orders now, or wait until I can take a good pic of the box with the final art and screen overlays, which might not be for another week?
Awesome job on the box art! Was this artwork created from scratch?

Many of us have the wonderful Harmony cartridge.
Unfortunately this cartridge doesn't have a box.
A similar design could be used to make a box for that cartridge.
I think Marc Oberhäuser of Freelancer Games could produce those (or other) boxes.
He already makes boxes (and cartridge holder inlay) for some AA store games.
Hi Phil,
That's not a bad idea. Do you have Marc's contact info, so I can send him a email? I'm curious as to what the pricing for something like this would be. I am thinking that I may just start with the boxes. Most likely have a poll to see which 3 or 4 people would really like to see produced. I figure I'd probably do a small run of 25? Not really sure...
EDIT: No need to send address. I'll just shoot him an email through his Freelancer Games site.
Thanks,

All 2600 had bad graphics but if I had to pick I would have to say POOYAN.
You won't be earning any rep points with that attitude

I'd be curious to see one in yellow... I'm sure it's very bright, but I think it would still look good. I think the Haunted House one is my favorite so far.
Yeah, I like that one, too. It's so incredibly simple. Amazing how two basic shapes convey eyes that are looking back in fear.
I'll try one in yellow tonight to see how it looks. Thanks!

These look amazing! Just a couple of things... Donkey Kong says "saver" instead of "save" on the back, and why are the chalice and the dragon green and orange instead of yellow?

Thanks, pinball22. I'll fix the Donkey Kong version. As far as the Adventure boxes go, I wasn't sure what colors to use. The yellow against the black is very bright. I wound up choosing a somewhat lighter version of the green used for the walls for the Chalice, and the orange of the actual game box for the dragon. Somewhat arbitrary, but there's only so many colors I can choose from w/ the 2600

I would think these could be produced and sold for a profit at $15.....? apiece
Hmmm, not sure. Perhaps Al could give me some info, or lend some assistance. I may shoot him a note later.
