Donkey Kong, hands down. I already had a good amount of games for the 2600, but I remember begging for Donkey Kong. My friend across the street had a ColecoVision and, of course, had DK. His mother never let him bring friends over, but one day she finally broke down and let us come over. We played DK the entire time, and all I kept thinking was "I can't wait to get this on the Atari, its going to be awesome." I thought it would look the same on the 2600. I was pretty disappointed when I finally got it, especially having played the arcade and CV versions first, but I played the hell out of it anyway. My mom never did get me that CV, though...

Quick question, when the player and dealer tie, should it always be referred to as a "push"? It seems as if it is referred to 3 different ways in the game ("push", "tie", and "no one wins"). Just wondering if it needs to be consistent.
That said, I really enjoy the game and I like how you handled the splits.

No reply yet. I hope I didn't kill the motivation.

I hope not. It's a fun game.

The main issue I can see with having a wooden box is simply the cost. Unfinished wooden boxes come in a bunch of sizes, and are fairly cheap, but it would require having someone stain the boxes to make them look good. Any boxes that are puzzle boxes are, for the most part, pretty expensive. There are some cheaper ones but those are too small to accommodate the cart.
My two cents -- Ditch the idea of the outer box needing to be a puzzle box. This will at least give you more to work with.
I found a box that would be great, but the manufacturer is in China, and they have a min. qty of 2000. There's also no pricing, so it could be too much $$$:

I really like the music in the Panky the Panda 2600 homebrew.

Phil, I can honestly say that I can't wait to get this game on an actual cart (and not just because I won the label contest)

It's a lot of fun to play.

And now for something completely different.
I'm not sure why but I felt like I should make these... spooky... isn't it.
Happy New Year everybody!!!

Happy New Year, PMR!
Really nice sprites! You need to team up w/ a developer and get some of your sprites into an actual game

I did a quick Google search, and it appears team Savage has a website, with some Knight Rider 2600 screenshots:

They actually look pretty good!

Took my 2600 to a friend's house, and I'm currently in their basement playing Enduro with my son and daughter. Good times.

And if you don't want to see the dreaded quadruple post, I suggest you do what he says.

Wow! I can't believe I haven't seen this until today. What a fun game. Really nice job on this.

Does this mean we can expect a reworked Custer's RevEnge in 2011?

You could also use this type of box:
It's see-through plastic, and the puzzle is not terribly challenging, but it may look nice in contrast with the oak wood cart:

Yuppicide,
As per your IM, here's the same packaging comp using the green box. I removed the red color from the label and manual. The red and green looked too Christmas-sy.
That said, the red box seems to fit the overall Skull Island theme, in my opinion.

This is great so far. I like your character animations.
Perhaps you can have multiple levels, each one like a multi-level obstacle course. Start on one end and try to get to the other. Once you reach the end, you progress to a harder level, and so on.
You might also add a timer that counts down or up, and gives you a bonus at the end based on how much time is left. If it counts down, it may add a certain level of tension as you play, forcing the user to choose speed over carefulness. You may also add powerups that you could pick up that add or take away time.
Just my two cents.

No possibility to add the ability to split? The odds are really against the player without it.

I hadn't noticed that. Good catch. Splits would definitely make the game truer to life, and also improve player odds.

Well, here's the thing. I don't mind if the wood case is plain. The thing is if I am going to do it, then it needs to be a puzzle to open. Like a "Japanese Puzzle Box" or something. They require a certain set of moves to open the box.
My Atari game is a puzzle and so should the box. Wink. Wink.
My last resort is to not include a wood box, but get that cheap puzzle box I showed you above and package the answers to solve the game in.

The game has 40 levels ranging from Beginner to Expert. You can start on level 1, 10, 20, or 30.
Found some sites of manufacturers of wooden puzzle boxes. They all appear to be overseas, with various minimum orders and pricing per unit:

Couldn't find any in the US that were within a reasonable price range...

This is great! I only played it on easy, though. That reminds me, I have to go give Petra her bra back...

Could have been worse. He could have named it:

I'm sure at least a few college kids across the country will dress up like a frog and do the same thing. (And put their videos on YouTube.)

I've been looking online, but anything wooden and custom tends to be a good amount of $$$. Most of the cheaper wood boxes are unfinished, which means you'd have to stain them and imprint them yourself.

Very cool! I can't wait to see the final version of this.

Exactly. I can't get used to the touch screen controls, no matter how hard I try.
