  1. @mizapf: best is to read the BYTE article that was pointed to before. it goes into all the details since it was not done by some press guy but the Project leaders. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258370-ti-992-general-system-rom-dump/?p=3730639 The Ram was enlarged to 4096+256 byte. 256 byte are the CPU onboard Ram. 4096 Byte are from the one Ram chip. They increased the RAM by 2K to carry the overhead of the system BASIC.
  2. will try once I reach home (~4 hours left). 99/2 is still setup and will keep it like this until we are satisfied.
  3. 224;0 it is like this after reset it stays like this after entering lines of basic code and executes.
  4. Hm, I can not reproduce the values. When entering a program now it is always 209;33
  5. added 3 lines and executed the program once. now its A: 236 B: 22
  6. Another user scanned a high resolution about a very detailed article on the 99/2 from the Byte Magazine with the project leaders: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258370-ti-992-general-system-rom-dump/?p=3730639 The change of the rom size is mentioned.
  7. -4086, right? not -4096! result: A: 209 B: 33
  8. the program is just a few basic lines which can be seen in the rom dumping video
  9. But the problem with the FinalGrom99 on the 99/4QI is not the Rom only lock out software (coming via v2.2). Afaik that is covered by always having a fake Grom Header. The problem was some differences/missing signals on the cartridge boards on QI boards. The problem is independent of the Grom0 software version, be it v1.0 or v2.2. In the end we need Ralph to join the discussion I assume.
  10. The prototype of Fabrice is an earlier version, not the 32k version. Here are the 4 eproms on mine: http://www.ti99.eu/?attachment_id=3149
  11. there were 12 cartridge titles released by Atarisoft. None of them I would consider rare. Meteor Belt I would consider a bit more uncommon compared to those.
  12. The available source code for the 99/8 Rom/Grom has the Rom only lock out. yes! correct! However that available source code lists are not necessarily matching the compiled binaries of the Rom/Grom we find in Ciro's 99/8 machine. We already wondered once why 3rd party cartridges are working on the 99/8 in Mame.
  13. I did some manual comparison of the three banks I made dumps of with those print out and they fully match. Interesting will be to have the diagnostic ROM available, also for emulation.
  14. Yes, via some Basic Program, that peeks every byte of the memory. However there is a hidden bank that is only activated instead of another when some CRU code is sent.
  15. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258370-ti-992-general-system-rom-dump/?do=findComment&comment=3618943 in short: includes small caps letters.
  16. CALL PEEK, CALL POKE, CALL MCHL are in the Subprograms List of the Basic Interpreter. Can be verified by checking the R1 dump file (C2000-C3FF).
  17. I have to say no to desoldering the eprom from the unit and wiring. it is not just socketed. http://www.ti99.eu/?attachment_id=3165 An assembler program further has the advantage that it can be run on multiple units to identify diffs in the rom from unit to unit.
  18. Hi Guys! Hi Ralph! Yesterday we tried out the FinalGrom99 cartridge on the 99/8, for me for the first time. It is not showing up on the Menu Selection Screen. The Menu Selection Screen is not based on numbers but letters, letter A is still Extended Basic II (stored in ROM), letter B is to set Speed. We tried two different carts who were verifed before and after on a 99/4A to work. Ciro told me he used the FlashRom99 on his 99/8, he never tried the FinalGrom99 yet. Any other 99/8 users: please try it out as well on your machine, it could be a problem on my machine. I think to remember that I used the XB 2.7 suite cart (Ubergrom) on my 99/8 with success. Could it be the same problem that blocks the QI consoles from using the FinalGrom99 with success? How is the status there? How can I help to diagnose from here?
  19. afaik this is the complete list of documents currently available: http://www.ti99.eu/?page_id=2732&lang=en
  20. Hi Michael! I can use my 99/2 today if it helps. Here is my disassembled unit: http://www.ti99.eu/?page_id=3353&lang=en I have the HX5102 to load any assembler code from disk. Also I can do continuity tests with my multi meter to identify some connections. There is some bank switching to get to the last 8K Rom. Some documents from the beginning of the project might tell different, but they couldnt fit the ROM in the targeted memory space for the ROM, so they had to expand the area somehow. Because the decision was done late, they piggypacked the eproms. The Memory Expansion was always planned via the large back bus, which is also used as port to connect potential Cartridges. And weren't there some plans for a Hex-Bus Memory Expansion?
  21. Break Free got released to the community (Public Domain?) by the Author on the last TI Treff in Italy, Rome, 30th September 2017. His intention was that others can study his work to learn Gpl. So you can run it from FinalGrom 99. Afaik there is still an exclusive Cartridge production deal with Gregory for Break Free.
  22. yes, photos please. were they assembled at ATA or LTA? btw - who assembled the cartridges for Argentinia?
  23. wow, that is some milestone! you really got it working! congratulations to you and to the community next things to check for how it behaves when you try: - OLD/SAVE DSK.DSKNAME.PRGNAME - OLD/SAVE HEXBUS.101.PRGNAME - OLD/SAVE HEXBUS.100.DSKNAME.PRGNAME Klaus

  25. There have been multiple operating systems, even for the same devices over the time. There was TX5 wich was close to TX990, also close to TXDS. The difference between those 3 might only be the device they run from. TXDS meaning TXDiskSystem running the OS from disk and the other two running it from EProms!? There was DX5 and DX10. There was also TPL for the Terminals. It might be that DX10 requires a harddisk to be in your setup. So far the infos I have on the actual differences are very vague. The DS990-1 came with ~10 disks and I will try to preserve them in the proper way and I hope I can tweak the most out of the system with the help of other owners and the available disk images on the net. It could be that unless you have the dedicated TX5 version of a certain software (mostly OS, Programming Languages, Assembler,...) you are screwed but I don't know that yet. The fun is to find all that out.
