  1. My best for the week is 77,000. Thanks!
  2. That is not necessarrily true. The code may have a test to keep the score from rolling over, and if it does detect a rollover it may top out the score a 999,900 and hold it there no matter how many more items are picked up. I am sure the last 2 digits are stuck at zero because of the score display routine has them hard coded similar to the way I have documented it in my disassembly of Venture. I quick review of the scoring code would answer the question of what happens when the score should roll over. Cheers!
  3. That's a copryrightective sponge. It was designed to prevent unwanted copying of cartridge software. Activision abandoned it after a study showed it was only 80% effective at preventing unwanted reproductions.
  4. My new high is 72,332 TIP: If you get to the pitch black levels 40 - 49 or so, then when you try an exit if it doesn't work you know for sure that it is the double up door. Find another exit, then go back to the double up door. If it works, then you are up 2 levels in the darkness. If it doesn't work, then you know that the other exit you found is the double down door. So you need to find a 3rd exit which you can be sure is the single up exit. Cheers!
  5. Better score: 23,169. TIPS: 1. If you are having trouble finding the key, use the teleport doors. When you teleport, you visit many intersections on the map. If one of them has the key, you will pick it up. 2. The zots tend to start by the key. If the key is on the left side of the maze, then go to the right side and find the exit. The zots will move away from the key towards you. Now zip back to the key, and then back to the exit. Cheers!
  6. Hello, I picked up a copy of Spitfire Attack today. Is there any sort of goal in this game? Or is it just a survive as long as you can sort of game? There is no manual posted on AA, so I am hoping somebady can fill me in. BTW, I really like the river effect on the ground. I think it is very well done. Cheers!
  7. I love this game. Its one of my all time favorites. 18,151 is my best so far.
  8. Actually, I have this idea on my to do wish list. Hopefully I can get to it sometime in the next 5 years. I agree that the original can be too slow. Especially when it gets to the point where there are no red bricks left and the ball is at a slow speed forever. It really needs to speed up over time. If I do get to this project, I plan on calling it "Morlords". Just flip the "W" to an "M" Cheers!
  9. One more question. Regarding the problems with reliability in the controllers, is it the buttons that go bad or the joystick? Or is it both? Thanks,
  10. Thanks for the information. It makes much more sense now. Cheers!
  11. Hello, I am thinking of starting to collect Atari 5200 things, and I have some questions. First, what is this RF converter thing, and do I have to have one to hook up a 5200? Here is an example from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8115451554&rd=1 Second question: Should I try to get a 2 port or a 4 port system? How many games support 4 player simultaneous play? Is one better/more-reliable than the other? Thanks!
  12. Woot! 83,900. I finally got passed the second bannana level. Then I got lucky and got Apples and then bannanas again Woot! TIPS: - SuPeR GhOsT MuNcH: On early levels if you manage to eat all 4 ghosts (or at least the last 3 of 4) rapidly, then go immediately to another power pill. Eat it when the last pair of eyes enter the ghost house and turn back into a ghost. Now head directly for the ghost house door. The blue ghosts will be forced out the door into your mouth in rapid fire succession. - Ghosts will reverse direction when you eat a power pill. - Be patient on the later levels. Remember there is no time limit for completing a level and the ghosts will not increase difficulty within a level. So take your time getting those last remaining dots on a level. Run around alot and use the tunnels go for a few dots and then run away again. That's how I finally beat the bananna level. Cheers!
  13. Hi, I own both, and I enjoy Chip's challenge more. Super Sweek is a top down arcade shooter in the same genre as alien syndrome or Ikari Warriors, but with some puzzle game elements thrown in. I find the game controls poorly. Chips Challenge is a puzzle game with some arcade elements. Personally, I think the best game for the Lynx is Crystal Mines II. That game is a perfect blend of puzzles and arcade style action, IMO. Enoy your prize!
  14. Hi Dan, I am planning to attend the VGS this year. My life is in state of flux right now, so I can't guarantee I can make it. I hope to though. If I can help at all by running a tournament or two I would be happy to help. Cheers
  15. Happy Birthday! I will guess 164 cans. Cheers!
  16. Ah, that's the link I couldn't find. Thanks!
  17. There is also a really easy way to convert atari joysticks to left-handed use. You need to open the joystick and rotate the wire connectors so that the correct orientation of the joystick places the fire button in the upper right corner. There is no soldering involved. All you need is a screwdriver. Cheers!

  19. Ha! Oh dear, I haven't lost diddly squat!. I lost 6 pounds by April, but then I gained it all back. So that means that I owe everyone that entered $5 of AtariAge store credit. Let me talk with Al about setting it up, and I will get back to you in a couple days. Thanks for the entries. Maybe I'll do better next time. Cheers!
  20. For me it was the 2001 mini-game competition. I noticed it at the time because I was heavy into Commodore 64. I noticed that people were programming the 2600, and that really intrigued me. I found the stella mailing list, which led me to this website.
