The CoCo version is the only Pitfall 2 I've ever played. So I can't say if any other versions allow this. It does appear to be a bug.

After adding a TI-99/4A and an Atari 800 to my collection I couldn't resist adding one more 8 bit computer to my collection.

I voted never since I never have. Being a retro gamer I doubt I will anytime soon either. However if I start getting more into homebrew games I might pre-order one of them.
-
Having hopefully learned my lesson on getting a console or computer and only a game or two I've started with what I think is a nice collection of 800 games.
-
Probably around 81 or 82 which would have made me 24 or 25. I went with 25 because it was more likely in 82.
-
Since this is AtariAge I should definitely include a video of my latest system.

At MSU in 1981, I had a stats professor who would lug his 800 to class in a big canvas backpack and run programs he wrote to demonstrate probability experiments and statistical analyses. Very cool.
One day his Atari acted up, flashed weird characters and colors, and crashed. After class I suggested he check whether the RAM modules had come loose but he gruffly dismissed my diagnosis. The next class he thanked me and explained he had never opened the back before and had indeed found a loose module. We became friends and helped found the Atari club CHAOS.
I just got an Atari 800 (my first Atari computer) and when I put in a cart and powered it up I got a blank green screen. I bought it untested so my first thought was "Oh NO!!" But a quick reseating of the RAM modules and it is working fine

Not a lot of games yet. But here is the latest in my collection.

This may have been mentioned thousands of times before, but I was watching Star Trek II with Khan. (the best IMO), And during the scene in Kirk's house, there is a very distinctly shaped PET computer with the screen sitting waiting for a command. It's visible in the blu-ray ed of the movie quite clearly. Never noticed it, and I've watched this movie dozens of times. Anyone else confirm?
I thought that was a great addition to that scene. Kirk clearly liked antiques... but that he was also a vintage computer collector makes him all the cooler.
Everybody knows Kirk is a Commodore fanboy.

The first video game I saw and played other than Pong was a Space Invaders clone on my brothers Ohio Scientific computer. That would have been the first to blow me away.

that's normal, it's a side-effect of showing more than 2 sprites on the screen at the same time. Search on HMOVE BAR or HMOVE LINE if you'd like more info.
Do the same effects show up when playing a 2600 game on a 7800?

I'm probably going to be hated for this, but Yar's Revenge never seemed very fun to me.
I enjoy Yars' Revenge at least in small doses. But I'd agree it is way overrated. To hear some people tell it on the 2600 there is Yar's Revenge and then there is everything else. It is a decent game. But I wouldn't rate it higher than decent.

I started with a Radio Shack Color Computer in 1982 and have been a computer gamer ever since. My first video game console was an Atari 2600 which I purchased in 2009. Since then I've added a NES, Sega Master System, Genesis, N64 and an original Playstation to my console collection.

Computers include:
Radio Shack Color Computer
Color Computer 3
Commodore Vic-20.
Consoles include:
Atari 2600
Sega Master System
Sega Genesis
NES
N64
Playstation

I'd go with Pitfall II on the CoCo.

I posted this video before I got my Multi-Pak Interface and Speech and Sound Pak out of storage. Without the Speech and Sound Pak there isn't any music.

How many Atari units do you have?
