@adam242 Longcat is not mine.  She is all of ours.  https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/longcat

Now, that said, I lost my boy Hermes about eight years ago to hepatic lymphoma. We fought it for two and a-half years with regular chemo and daily pills before he finally succumbed. I promised I would fight as long as he would fight. His loss has been one of the hardest in my life, and it took me many years before I could sleep well again.

I know your pain and I hope you are well.  This is one of my best and favorite photos of my puppy cat.

@ventrra Yup.  I have seen and used many of those, myself. Rather un-stylish :)  I still have a SparcStation 20 sitting around here, and an IPX.  Funny little machines.

@ventrra I believe that is a Sun Java Workstation.  They ran the Java Desktop (essentially Gnome) on an Opteron.  Sun could be rather stylish.

The busted spring can be seen here, but I only noticed afterward. You can see the pulley track shift, hear all the stress on the door track and the opener motor.  The opener automatically tries to open again after closing from a failed open.

Naw, dog.  The springs are busted.  I cannot get even lift on both sides of the door, and it is heavy AF (as the kids would say)  and the pulley track bows really badly during the pull.  Imma break something.  But, no worries.  Day is over, and the garage guy will be here tomorrow.

  8. Does replacing old Atari 2600 cartridge labels with new, quality reproductions substantially alter any value they have?  Bear in mind I am not banking on my 250-some carts for my retirement, I just want them to look nice.

Good answer -- what level of rarity should be the limit?  Does it matter if cartridge-only?

Some things have changed with the 2019 version's database engine. My guess is the changes were meant to avoid the DNS server conflicts when installed on a domain controller, but it has not only become a major pain but they cannot get it working on our 2012R2 server.

Those who don't like Microsoft may say so. I had a drive fail in a server array which caused three virtual machine VHDs to corrupt, as well. I've been able to clean all but one and it's fighting every step.

Not sure what you mean, but I have two bits of advice both taught and learned. You want to touch the pad, not the component if you can avoid it, but you can also touch the solder. If everything is clean then it will flow and stick where it is supposed to. Heating a board before working can help with stubborn solder joints on large grounding planes or particularly wide paths which act as heat-sinks making it damn near impossible to flow the solder. I have never done this and it would seem to m...

For real, though. I feel like less of a *nix admin for never having exploited this little program's potential. It's like that little tool you have sitting there on the bench, never really needing it until one day you pick it up and realize how awesome it is and how much easier it could have made chores past.
