  1. Bummed that my beloved SonyEricsson C905a succumbed to the GPSpocalypse. I guess SE did not consider any fools using the phone 10 years later.

  2. I used Acronis' "contact us" sales form to inquire about licenses. Never received an answer but now I get its newsletter.

Some things have changed with the 2019 version's database engine. My guess is the changes were meant to avoid the DNS server conflicts when installed on a domain controller, but it has not only become a major pain but they cannot get it working on our 2012R2 server.

Those who don't like Microsoft may say so. I had a drive fail in a server array which caused three virtual machine VHDs to corrupt, as well. I've been able to clean all but one and it's fighting every step.

Oh, yeah. I saved up a week's-worth of lawn mowing to buy Munchman II, Beyond Parsec, and Midnight Mason. MMII was a quick favorite.

Not sure what you mean, but I have two bits of advice both taught and learned. You want to touch the pad, not the component if you can avoid it, but you can also touch the solder. If everything is clean then it will flow and stick where it is supposed to. Heating a board before working can help with stubborn solder joints on large grounding planes or particularly wide paths which act as heat-sinks making it damn near impossible to flow the solder. I have never done this and it would seem to m...

For real, though. I feel like less of a *nix admin for never having exploited this little program's potential. It's like that little tool you have sitting there on the bench, never really needing it until one day you pick it up and realize how awesome it is and how much easier it could have made chores past.

I did write a cmd script to set Windows firewall for QB which has made my life easier. Oh, trust me, I also support PeachTree (now Sage.) Both definitely have their own, um, quirks even though they run the same database back-end (Pervasive.)

It's been discussed in various threads what and why. It would be a curious thing to see if anyone would fund our hobby, maybe under the guise of "marital support." I got to visit this tough little five year-old boy this weekend and he's doing very well, considering.

@Osgeld: Yeah, I am not a big pop-culture fiend. You might say I live under a rock since I do not watch TV or listen to the radio, nor participate in social media. Plus, when I came up with that today at the office I decided to run it through a Google search to make sure someone else had no claim it, and lo! Seven months (apparently) and no one had posted anything that Google picked up. Well, since Google knows all and sees all, I assumed it is a fairly original way to describe trying...

hehehe TBH, Exchange has VASTLY improved in the past 15 years. 2003 was great, 2007 improved, 2010 excellent, and 2013 isn't really all that bad... BUT, if you have a fubar'ed AD, your project is going into the toilet very quickly!

@Bakasama: in the context of the entire "Star Wars" franchise. Oh, and the last "Raiders" movie is off-limits, too. I'm still waffling on "Neverending Story 2."

  23. Is it really so much to ask that a WiFi-AC bridge work with a 5GHz-only network??

    1. OLD CS1

      OLD CS1

I've tried three devices at this point which are 802.11ac bridges: one WD (old stuff) and two LinkSys/Cisco. Both are compatible with 802.11n and support 5GHz, however, it appears they ONLY support 5GHz when used with 11ac. For 11n they only use 2.4GHz. My ultimate solution will have to be to use a 5GHz WAP in bridge mode.
