Do you get audio with a CV game?
-
got to level 18 today, 6 more levels to go.

I have Halo 2600 carts in production, and the manuals were sent to the printer yesterday. I'm bringing 50 boxed copies of the game to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo at the end of this month. I'll then make copies available to everyone who wants one after I return from the show (loose with manual, complete in box, and just the manual for those who want that). ..Al Albert, Every coming to CT Not sure we even have a Retro Gaming Expo here, kind of a small state. Anyway to pre-order one? Thanks

I'm not sure they are making anymore. I think I put my name in a couple years ago, but nothing so far.

wow, going all out for CV fee from 82, or I guess more like 83. way to go!

ok got to level 16 today. so making progress. i wonder what the 1M point secret is?

I've been playing Star Force and got to level 14 and then level 11 today. Any cheat codes for this game? Perhaps a code with the 2nd part of the ship even after you die? Gulkave is the other one I've been playing. Neo Geo controller helps a ton, but these games are hard.

using original Neo Geo Controller on Colecovision
grips03 replied to grips03's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Today I added panel mount SPDT switch to switch between ground (Neo Geo) and CV common (for buttons 2,3,4, and keypad). I also wired in Start = CV * and Select = CV button 1. I need a better switch label, but all works on either the NG or the CV. http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/7932686956 http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/7932689414 button doesn't interfere with NG controller internals and external use. If fact due to bevel on the back of NG controller you can't really see the switch from above. -
Matt - how did you get your cuts to look so good on the rectangle?

I have quite a few CV games out and they are taking up too much space on the coffee table, but I like to swap between them and really don't want to put them away. Does someone make a cartridge holder? I'm thinking of a ~16 inch x 3 inch wide (or whatever the CV cart is) x ~3 inch deep. thanks

Where and when was Starcom for Colecovision sold?
grips03 replied to rpgcollector's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Bosconian video on youtube is cool, does the CV version have the voices? Problem with ebay auction is the selling fees and the returns, etc. -

Looks like Starcom is a space shooter game, is that right? How is the game play, super hard, easy? Does the game have a story / end, or does it just continue to get harder as you go up levels? Any video of game play? -
thanks for the info. I downloaded eagle, but could not figure it out. Perhaps time to read the manual or watch a tutorial video.

using original Neo Geo Controller on Colecovision
grips03 replied to grips03's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
if you want want to install new pcb inside of Neo Geo controller there is space. But I was trying to keep the controller stock so it can be used between the two systems, and GreyHill keypad just wasn't small enough for hands not to rub against them while playing hence, I figured this converter box idea, so any stock Neo Geo controller would work. I can still make it work with a common ground and not have to borrow pin 9, but I need to add some relays. Perhaps I'll order some and try it. <--scratch that no power on the db9 from the CV. inside of NG to CV adapter: http://[email protected]/7926468500 http://[email protected]/7926468116 I should say the guts are 1/2 standard controller and 1/2 SAC, as the main SAC pads are a mess. -

Does the new PCB fit inside a CV cart? If yes.... -

The original Neo Geo controller is kind of cool in that it has no electronics, has a good joystick and buttons (Seimitsu screw in 24mm are much better). The controller works by grounding out whatever button / postion is pressed. So what I made is a converter box to use the original Neo Geo controller on the Colecovison. The Neo Geo controller plugs into a DB15 port and on the other side the converter box box connects to the Colecovision. On the top of the converter box is a Greyhill keypad. Inside the converter box is a SAC controller. Now everthing worked but button 2,3,4. So to fix this I used the original's Neo Geo controller pin 9. As pin 4 and pin 9 are both wired to "D" button, but the console only uses pin 4, so with pin 9 I wired it for the common on button 2,3,4. In order to maintain capability with both the Neo Geo and CV console, I need to wire SPDT switch, to switch between ground (Neo Geo) and pin 9 (CV). The converter box is kind of large due to using the SAC on the inside, but I'm thinking perhaps a newer version of the SAC, and one perhaps with relay's or something so it does not require one to modify the orginal Neo Geo controller for button 2,3,4 might be kind of cool. The greyhill keypad fits pretty easy inside of a CV cartridge. So far space games like Gorf, Star Wars, Gulkave, Star Force work better with the Neo Geo joystick.

Sorry, I don't have any of these available. There were a few prototypes made, but then the project morphed into the arcade controller for Retroillucid. 5-11 does the PCB use a comon ground? Example: say someone wants to use a NeoGeo controller that has 4 buttons, start, select, and a nice joystick. So they have an exernal case and add SAC controllers guts, a Greybar common ground keypad, a DB15 port for the Neo Geo controller to connect to, and a DB9 cable to the CV. All is working besides buttons 2,3,4. button 2 registers as button 1. This is due to the Neo Geo using a common ground (grounds each switch being pressed) and the CV not really being setup for it. Now I can fix this by adding a 2nd port on the Neo Geo controller and doing some addtional wiring in the Neo Geo controller, but if your PCB that retroillucid now sells, supports a common ground for all the switches and then sends whatever the Colecovision needs to be happy, then I can just skip this step and wait until 2013. thanks

Front Line and some others

I think I found the issue. I need to order some 1N4148 signal diodes Adding the SAC's 4 button board to the CV standard controller lines works, button 3 and 4 are now present.
-
Ok I have button 1,2,3 working, but button 4 gives me *, so got to figure it out.
-
easy to use software for PCB layout and manufacturing? any for Mac OSX or is Windows a better option? thanks
-
I'll work on this tomorrow. I found standard CV controller schematic and its straight forward, hopefully the SAC is similar and it doesn't take too many parts to convert.

5-11 do you have the PCB with diodes only for sale? I don't need the connectors / wiring. I'm using Grayhill 86AC2-102 for keypad. This keypad has common ground like the original CV keypad. thanks
