  1. Since they sell them for $89, my guess is between $20 or $30 trade in. Maybe $35 or $40 if you're lucky, but I think that's pushing it. Probably best to just sell it here if you don't mind the wait. That's a good idea, I don't mind waiting. Sometimes I get overly anxious when buying new things Thanks!
  2. The PS1 and 2 have some great light gun games. For the PS1, two guns which I like are the Guncon and its version of the Konami Justifier. I find the Guncon is more accurate, but the Justifier can be used to play some games which the Guncon cannot (and it's really not bad at all).
  3. I've been working a lot lately, and I have a lot of PSP games I'd like to get around to playing, so I'll probably head into town tomorrow and pick up a 3000. Thanks all for the feedback! PS, does anyone know what Gamestop offers for PSP 1000 trade ins? Just curious, it's always nice to save some cash, and I really only need one.
  4. Probably could work in some way. It's my understanding that the 5200's A2600 adapter kind of worked like that.
  5. I've had Doom 32X display some sort of BSOD-esque error in the middle of the first level once... It's never happened since, but it said something like "BUS error" followed by a lot of numbers.
  6. I need to thank all of you for the awesome advice and information! This is great, thank you all so much!
  7. Hmmm... The potential screen issue does seem to be a concern, but if not many people notice it, it should not be too much of an issue... I guess I'll go with a 3000.
  8. Time to go on vacation! No internet there though, but still...

  9. Thanks for all the replies! I just cracked it open and it does appear to have the DVC installed (I guess the school must have needed it for the VCD's they used). That's also interesting how any controller for the system can be used... As for controllers, I think I may have just got something worked out from Craigslist, but I'm going to be leaving for a while, so I'll need to hold off on that. Also that timekeeper chip may be an issue... I'm going on vacation today, so I don't think I'll be able to test it for a few days, but is there any way it can be easily tested? If it IS dead, do the replacement chips usually have dead batteries too? I'm not so good with soldering yet (still practicing...), so if it's difficult to replace the battery, or to modify it, I may need to ask my father (he's pretty good at soldering).
  10. Hi everyone! Earlier this week I was looking through our local resale shop when I came across a CD-I 220 in decent shape. It had previously belonged to a high school (it's written on the side). I picked it up for $5, too! It's in decent cosmetic shape, although it is missing the "stop" button from the front of the console. Now that the back-story is out of the way, I have some quick questions: -do you recommend any games for this console? -it did not come with a controller or a remote... I see that they are scarce too. Are the remotes compatable with all models of CD-I, or are there problems? -Due to the scarcity of controllers, are there adapters to use others on the system? -Are CD-I consoles region free? As always, thank you for your time!
  11. Thanks for the reply! I didn't even consider the screen, that's great too! Does Gamestop sell decent used consoles (never bought a used one there)? If not, I have no problem with buying locally from someone, or off of eBay.
  12. Hello everyone! As the topic title says, I'm considering upgrading to a newer version of the PSP. I have the 1000 model, and while I do like it, I am interested in some of the features that the 2000 and 3000 versions have. I do not have any interest in hacking my PSP, so that should not be a factor. Also, I don't plan on buying a Vita or 3DS anytime soon; this will likely be my main handheld/portable media console for the next few years. The main things I am interested in are: -TV Out -64mb ram instead of 32mb -stiffer D-Pad (I like to play a lot of fighting games. The 1000's D-Pad is kinda... bad) -faster loading times (?) If anyone has these versions of the PSP, how do you like them? How do they hold up to the original model, and are the improvements and weaknesses worth it? Thank you all for your time!
  13. Summer of 2008. It came with 2 games (one of which was Squeezebox... Can't remember the other). After learning that my friend had a closet full of A2600 games that I could borrow at any time, my interest for the system really took off. I may not have been alive during its prime, but I can always appreciate a great system with great games
  14. I live in a fairly low income area, where not everyone has a computer. I know that one of my neighbors used an Apple II computer for all of their word processing needs until ~2007 (!). I haven't seen them in a while, but when I asked my mom about it, she said they had upgraded to a newer XP machine.
  15. I've played Warhawk a bit, and it is good fun. It reminds me a bit of Battalion Wars on Gamecube.
  16. Gamestop is where I get mine. They're very inexpensive, and I think I saw them in packs of 2 (4 total) last time I was there.
  17. I always have it activated, but I rarely even notice it.
  18. Huh, I did not know this. Haven't bought one of those replacements yet (been meaning to). I thought they were direct copies of the original stick. So they are a bit better? Are the inner workings metal (or just the stick) or is it all plastic still? If plastic, then it sure as hell can wear away, just like the original... Though if the plastic offers no friction (ultra smooth finish), that might help. I replaced my N64 joystick with one of these the other day, very easy. They have a ball instead of a stick, so it won't clash against the sides like the stock ones do. It is a little shorter though (at least the one I got) so it can take some getting used to, but I highly recommend them over all. I'll try and get some pictures up later if I can find my camera... But to the topic, I find Jaguar controllers the most comfortable to hold, but the mushy buttons and D-Pad keep them from the top of my list. I'm very fond of the N64 and Gamecube controllers, and also enjoy Dualshock and XB360 controllers. The six-button Genesis pad is also one of my favorites, and I find it much more comfortable than the old three-button ones.
  19. Oh man, hover! Nostalgia overload! That was probably the first video game I ever played. My parents got an AST computer with Windows 95 in '95 or '96, so I would have been under 7 when they got it. It used to scare me, what with all of the other vehicles out against you. Some of the sound effects scared me too, for whatever reason The AST also came with a demo for a game called Fury^3, which I ended up buying years later. A great game as well.
  20. Sixaxis feels lighter and cheaper. Dualshock 3 is heavier and has rumble. I've read that the sixaxis lasts a bit longer because it doesnt have rumble but it doesnt matter....Dualshock 3 is better. I've also had a bad experience with sixaxis joysticks. They seem to break more easily, and start to lose their centering ability, kind of like the old N64 sticks. I haven't had this problem on DS3s, though.
  21. What he ^ said. Does nobody play Japanese games? When I played Xenosaga that threw me off, but one tends to get used to it after a while.
  22. I've had a similar problem with my 60gb fat, usually with Bethesda games. Don't worry about it too much if it doesn't happen every time, I'm sure its fine.
  23. That's true, you're right. One thing that confuses me, though, is Record of Agarest War. That game was 9.5 (or something) GBs to download off of the PS store, but it was also on the 360. I'm not sure about 360 DVDs, but can't they only hold about 7 GBs of data? My brother owns that game on the 360, and I can't really tell any difference between the two.
  24. I had some awful download speeds at first, but they sped up as the day went on. Got Wipeout HD and LBP. Still need to decide on the PSP games though.
  25. The two that say GB somethingorother are, I believe, Game Boy original and Gameboy Color. The one that is all Japanese characters is Wonder Swan. Sorry, I should have detailed that. My Japanese isn't very good, but I think the red is Gameboy Advance, and the White is Gameboy Color.
