Kinda the same concept as those old NES TVs (my friend has one of those!). This looks like a neat product too!

Mine is DreamerXTC (it's stupid, I know... sorry). I don't have many online games, but please feel free to add me!

Gundemonium Collection - do you recommend it?
Rikkarr replied to Rikkarr's topic in Sony Playstation 3
Thanks for the info! I am still interested in this version, and my friend is giving me his old computer (about 4X better than this old box o' silicon), so when I get the chance, I'll need to pick this up as well. Thanks again! -
I can't imagine Nintendo being okay with that. Nintendo would have most likely had some say in the design, I would imagine. But, you never know. You're right, the design would probably be more like the NES pad. If only we had something like the What-If Machine from Futurama. Then, all these questions would be answered

Lord of the Rings: Journey to Rivendell question(s)
Rikkarr replied to Fujifruit's topic in Atari 2600
I like this idea! Just don't forget to add some retro Atari goodness! -
Knowing Atari, they would probably make some kind of horrifying 5200/American 7800 controller style for the AES...
-
That's a good point. On a somewhat unrelated note, I can sort of relate with Mario Kart Wii. I could only play with the wheel/remote; the GC controller scheme felt disjointed and clunky. Judging on what I've read, I'd really like to try wheels again in GT5, but I don't think I can afford one right now. On the other hand, I do have those replacement L2/R2 triggers for my DS3 that make them easier to press. I wonder if that would help performance a little bit?
-
I agree completely. I actually did own a wheel for some time, but as you said, it didn't really help much. Sure it was cool, but it didn't do much for me. Just another thing to buy. I too hope the controller works as well as it did in past releases...

Gundemonium Collection - do you recommend it?
Rikkarr replied to Rikkarr's topic in Sony Playstation 3
Thanks for the input, guys! The character size was a concern for me too, but when you mentioned that the hit boxes were small, that was a relief. I am a big fan of bullet hell games, like Touhou, so I decided to buy it. So far, I'm very impressed with the games! I would have liked to buy a physical copy for the PC, but my computer is beyond crap (256mb RAM beige box ) so this was really the only option. I also read that there is, indeed, remote play (and I DO have a PSP, so that's good news). Once again, thank you guys for your input, it was much appreciated! -
Lord of the Rings: Journey to Rivendell question(s)
Rikkarr replied to Fujifruit's topic in Atari 2600
Then again so is pacman... That's a good point... The only reason I can think of is that non-video game licenses are handled differently. -
Hmm... Now that you mention the botched Sony-Nintendo deal, I wonder what would have happened there if Atari took over Nintendo distribution? Would Sony even be in the game market, and would there even be a Playstation?
-
Ah, I loved both Oblivion and Morrowind! Good news to see another Elder Scrolls. I just hope it gets a console release... My current computer is crap, and I don't really have money to build a gaming PC
-
Hey everyone, if you have some time, could you share some opinions about this collection and its games? I saw it was part of the PSN sale thingy, and I'm considering it... I typically enjoy these types of games, but I'm a little unsure about spending money on it, as funds are a little sparse and I'm not sure about the quality. What do you guys think?

Dreamcast Collection for PS3\Xbox360
Rikkarr replied to cimerians's topic in Modern Console Discussion
This is great! I'll be moving into a dorm soon, so I don't think I'll have room to bring my dreamcast... At least I should be able to play some favorites on my PS3. Thanks for the heads up! -
It's good to point this out, especially for new collectors. When I was just starting out a few years ago, I would frequent my local game store that would carry coleco and atari games. Apparently, they didn't know the difference either, and just lumped all the games together, making it hard to distinguish. I almost bought a coleco game, thinking it was an atari game, but another customer at the store pointed it out to me, so I guess I didn't have to learn the hard way

It's a really nice system, and if you have enough outlets, then there's really no reason to ever unhook it, unless you wanted to play Genesis Virtua Racing for some reason. I've heard it improves picture quality of genesis games as well (I've only heard this, don't know for sure), but I can confirm that Japanese Mega Drive games will fit into it and play fine, so long as they're not region locked.
-
Seems like you got a good deal to me! Nice find, man.
-
They're both similar enough. Just see which exclusives you like better, and which controller you like better (as some have already stated). Also, the upcoming Star Raiders and Yars Revenge you mentioned will be on the PS3 as well.

The 13-in-1 paddle is actually where I first played it. I got one in a garage sale a few years ago, before I bought my 2600 (which I got from ebay in '08). The paddle, as well as Demons to Diamonds, were some of the deciding factors in pushing me towards getting a real Atari.

What is the most Underrated game in your opinion
Rikkarr replied to Tr3vor's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Absolutely! This was one of my favorite games growing up. My brother and I would play this game for hours on end, and were amazed at all the different cars and tracks you could choose from. For the time, the graphics were nice, and the variety of weapons was great as well. We always found it perplexing how Sprinter XL had nearly the highest acceleration rating in the entire game, but was one of the starting cars... -
Yeah, I've played this one! It's a good game, but I didn't have the manual for the longest time, so I had no idea what was going on Oddly, my speech teacher remembers playing this one when she was a kid. I did a report on Atari once, and she mentioned that it was one of her favorites.

360 kicks ass all over your PS3 and I see just as many, if not more, YLOD PS3's. Come on you guys... They're both good, but imperfect, systems with a lot of great games and excellent hardware. No need to fight... Now, back to the topic at hand... OldAtarian, I believe this is an updated version. I can't be sure, because I'm at work and my computer won't let me watch videos
-
The ones in charge don't seem to understand... I mean, I get where they're coming from, but generally, they're better off than a lot of industries in the world. I suppose used books and cars are bad for their respective industries as well? If used game sales get cut off, I might just give up modern gaming. I almost always buy used (college is a money drain).

My friend has some. I have trouble holding them, but if the size isn't really an issue, they work surprisingly well.

As far as I can tell, the original nintendo DS (the one I have), has only two brightness settings: on and off. That's all that happens when I press the little "brightness" icon on the bottom left, the light goes on or off; it doesn't get any brighter. That's normal. Later models had more options when it came to screen brightness.
