What brand of coffee is both economical and tastes better than ground dirt? Or are good taste and low cost mutually exclusive in the world of coffee?

  I generally like any medium roast whole bean coffee ground fresh. I get Pears Gourmet from the grocery store and it's cheap and tasty. Drinking some right now actually.
  
  Avoid Starbucks, they burn their beans until it tastes like ash mixed with mud.
