Poem I wrote: I cut my toenails and put them in mom's salad, then I gave it to her and I wrote this ballad, and mom's anger is pretty valid.

  9. OK, first attempt with the fire button configured (it's CTRL + any arrow key, in case anyone else is as easily confused as me)....110,490 Great game! I'm continually impressed by the variety and novelty of Atari 8-bit games!!
  10. Thanks, McKong. I'll try it out......
  11. Um, I've got a dumb question: How do you fire? Can't find the right key
  12. You don't get to the top of the screen. On each floor, you must walk over each of the little segments that disappears as you walk over them. Then the level is complete. Poor description on my part, but does that make sense?
  13. I'm surprised I got this far. I've always been wretched at this (and most Nintendo platform games). Score: 55,100
  14. Welcome to the HSC, seamaur! Have fun and keep postin'
  15. Can we start playing now, or do we wait until Monday to post scores?
  16. I missed out on the text adventure craze back in the day, so when I learned a few years ago that there was one available on a 2600 cartridge, I jumped at the chance to experience these two retro technologies married together on a cart. I had high expectations since one of my favorite Atari games, Stellar Track, was based on a text adventure game. Dark Mage gave me the opportunity to experience a real text adventure, and I was not disappointed. I found it to be more difficult than I expected, primarily due to my poor sense of direction and inability to draw mental maps. But nonetheless, I experienced it as a true adventure and took pleasure in stumbling upon clues to the game. Overall, the game has wetted my appetite for exploring the world of text adventure a little more.
  17. Bonus.... I tried playing this game three times, and hated every second of it. Aside from the terrible graphics, the control scheme seems counterintuitive and difficult to get accustomed to. In all fairness to Froggo though, I tend to dislike fighting games anyway, even Boxing by much revered Activision. A pet peeve of mine is when a game does not show the score at the end of the game. To get a screenshot I had to watch the clock and hit F12 before the last second (mercifully) expired.
