Once you pass a certain score, say 40,000 for example, then the next game will start you at the 30,000 mark, unless you choose not to use continues

You have my sympathy. I rely greatly on my Stelladaptor for playing games I don't own in various HSC's. I shudder to think that it's actually an impermanent part of existence, like everything else!
