  1. Did you forget that CX2663 was the original number of "Super Combat" aka Combat Two?
  2. This story is totally different from the one you told previously. You said they disposed stock manufactured at El Paso. You said they cleared out the warehouse when they stopped the game manufacturing in El Paso and retooled the factory. You never mentioned before that this was returned stock. You also don't mention the number 728,000 in your book nor the name Jim Heller. Also Atari did shrinkwrap the silver box games. I never tried to discredit your book. I never denied that you tried to be as accurate as possible based on the available information. But as it has been proven the book was not 100% complete and accurate. And probably never will be, because it tries to recap events that happened 30 years ago.
  3. He didn't find a bargain. The auction was posted here in the market place and many collectors took notice of it. I had it in my watch list as well but didn't bid and so did many others. But of course there might be collectors who have missed the auction and are willing to pay $500, so good luck with the sale. And your recap of our potential trade is rather inaccurate. I offered you the V-carts for trade for *anything* that I don't have in my collection and I asked for low value items that I'm missing to complete my collection. Hard to find in good condition but of low value. I also told you that I would reserve the carts for you. I know that they are of a higher interest for you than for me. You just need to have anything of interest for me. And money isn't of interest for me. I never offered them for sale and never asked for any amount of money or higher value items.
  4. So you just bought the one on eBay for $150 but are asking $500 now? eBay Auction -- Item Number: 181351191437
  5. Maybe you should change your name to thenintendofan?
  6. I don't conform to the reasoning for clearing out the warehouse. Even just 728,000 games is a huge number. That's not a number a local manager decides to throw in the dumpster because they need to free up some space. I'd be surprised if the upper management didn't decide to reduce the manufacturing capacities and overstock of games. And in that context it is odd that just 1 month later they made so many copies of Battlezone and Joust that the supply will last for another 100 years. But no matter how you turn it, it seems that they had no idea how bad the market was at the end of 1983.
  7. So just because Marty wrote this in his book all discussion has to end? No company would destroy 728k games if they think they can sell them over the holiday season. Unfortunately the Atari manager did not say why Atari tasked him to dispose those games. And obviously Marty didn't ask him either. So how good is a book if they couldn't find the responsible manager? And please don't tell me they dumped that many cartridges just to clear out a warehouse and it wasn't overstock.
  8. You're right, just checked the dates. The dump happened at the end of September 1983 and Battlezone and Joust were manufactured in the first week of November 1983. Kinda odd to dump overstock just to manufacture more overstock one month later. So we can only assume that Atari had still no idea how bad the market already was.
  9. Superman and Air-Sea-Battle surprises me. I don't think there was a huge overstock of these games. I would have expected Battlezone and Joust down there because there is still a huge overstock from the Atari Inc era today.
  10. It would be odd if they only dig up a few games. Also odd that the first thing they've found was ET and not something else.
  11. I just digged up several copies of ET from the backyard of Atari Germany. Taking offers.
  12. "I ALWAYS INTENDED TO USE THESE BUT AFTER MY STROKE I FOUND IT TOO DIFFICULT TO PURSUE MY HOBBY ANY LONGER AND I HAVE TO SELL THINGS NOW TO PAY FOR ALL THE HORRENDOUS MEDICAL BILLS.." Kid died before it could play the games... Wife dead... Stroke... Medical Bills... Really, really poor old guy...
  13. Yes, that list was his personal collection but what he has listed on eBay is from Joe. He is helping Joe to sell off the remaining stock.
  14. The store used to be great, but lately (1 year+) Joe doesn't seem to care any longer and he is just selling off what he has. Jerry also put most stuff on eBay and nothing new has been added to the store. My guess is that he wants to get out of the business.
  15. Looks like they catched the V-cart thief before the Canadian border.
  16. I've bought a lot of games from atari2600.com and a lot was not in the advertised condition. New should mean new and not unused but has been kicked around the last 30 years. Probably bought 50 games from him total and 10 were not in a good condition. Also overall he doesn't show much ambition to sell anything.
  17. Since when is Canada in central Europe?
  18. The games on a Championship cartridge should be the ones actually played at the 1981-1984 championships.
  19. The bought for a child part seems odd. Two or 3 games maybe, but more than 25? Which parents would buy that many games?
  20. I have an extra NIB PAL Rabbit Transit, shrinkwrap split on the top. Box is the same as the NTSC one, just a small PAL sticker.
  21. FYI, I'm in Germany and I see no items in your store. I have to use an anonymizer to hide my geo location to see anything.
