  1. Hello

Thanks to my Australian friend I have an absolutely MINT condition Mountain King box for the Atari 2600. It is one of my ALL time favorite games. Now, here is the problem I have, I need a MINT condition cartridge and instruction book to go along with it. Looking for a MINT to very NICE Mountain King cartridge (NTSC) and instruction manual for the Atari 2600. Price will depend on condition of course but I'm going to be a little picky on this one since I already own shitty ones. Let me know what you have, Thanks a ton!

    Hi, Brian!

Might this one, in this thread, suit your needs :D ?

There is one slight "nick" on the left side of the end label. The main label is glossy, and clean. Interior/pins look good.

The instructions are minty, and nice. (EDIT: on further inspection, I see there is a subtle crease on the left side of the instructions.)

Let me know what other pictures or information I can provide . . .

  2. Well, after trolling about a bit and staring at the low-rez grainy pictures . . . I still don't know!

Review copies, or perhaps a strange, little known "copy-cart" product?

Some of the carts appear to have text like "<name> / <name>" - - two titles, separated by a slash? A primitive multi-cart?!?

Tempted to bid, but I am hoping someone here will instead, and satiate my curiosity!

  3. Can anybody say what the heck those labeled carts are in this auction? are they protos, or some kind of bootlegs?

    http://www.shopgoodw...?ItemID=9217913

I saw that one, too, and was briefly puzzled - - maybe they just ripped the labels off?

The ends are strange, though, all blunt and square . . .

Maybe someone here will win, and we will find out . . .

. . . or we'll see it listed on eBay for $1,200 as "rArE OMG! Worked last when I put it in the attic!" :D

  4.

I'm going to digress a little here...

    ...

Ultimately, the biggest problem TI had was their attitude towards 3rd party developers. Sad really, the TI-99 was well liked in the press until they figured out how crippled it was. And consumers really liked the TI name and the computer's look. (it does look cool)

You sir, are an excellent individual!

Good, well thought out points. On the last bit, I think my parents were definitely won over by the looks of the machine. And the educational "promises." And maybe a little bit by Bill Cosby. ;-)

    ti_cosby_large.jpg

I'd buy a computer from THAT guy! AND he's funny!

  5. I've enjoyed my recent TI-99 revival, for sure - - it has reminded me of the "taste" of my first computer!

I had a hard time finding good, current active websites for the TI-99, however, while I was playing.

The AtariAge programming group is quite excellent, though, and there's some really great stuff going on. Did anyone see the recent post about the VGA interface for a TI-99?!? :-o

    (This post - - http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/190610-pimped-console-with-f18a/page__view__findpost__p__2411898)

I think as one person pointed out, the TI-99 is an older system, and it was rapidly dwarfed back in the day by the COMMODORE 64, ATARI systems, and others . . . which all proved to dominate the market.

My second computer was a COMMODORE 64, and it blew my TI-99 away, I'm sad to say!

I've actually decided to list my TI-99 collection here on AtariAge, and make some room for other vintage computers (see below, if curious) . . . :( So it goes!

  6. I am really interested in this projetc, I will surely buy one if it is sold someday.

A faster and larger VDP Ram, a flat monitor, graphic enhancements,etc... That sound cool for a programmer!

    Guillaume.

Wow! Add an easy-to-use flash cartridge to that list as well, and it would be TI-99 heaven . . . !

I'll be following this! Nice work, devs.

  7. Tried PM but got "The member the.golden.ax cannot receive any new messages".

Don't know "Yurkie", but I'm interested in the ColecoVision. Got any games to sell with it?

Yurkie is an amazing member of AtariAge who does top-shelf work on ColecoVision units - -

    http://www.atariage.com/forums/user/23318-yurkie/

I have a "Yurkie unit" and it is FANTASTIC - - worth the price of admission, and more!

You would do well to buy this from AX, and at an excellent price, too!

  8. Actually, the thread should read "Am I a dumbass?". :)

Today I met up with a local seller and bought a PSP (2000), with an 8 gig card, also the FF Crisis Core, CIB. The system has been modded and loaded with emulators, though no ROMs. Came with a charger. I paid $70. The catch is that the unit looks pretty beat up, to the point where I may replace the screen and paint the back. Everything does work without issue.

Am I a dumbass? You be the judge.

I dunno, that's not too bad. For another $30-40 there are plenty of shops that will swap cases and put in a new screen. I was just at a local guy's shop yesterday here in Denver who offers such a service.

I think it's a good deal! I've been considering upgrading from my GBA SP backlit to a PSP so I can play ATARI and SNES emulators - - the one area that the GBA SP fails in!

  9. My eye . . . it is drawn . . . TO THE LEOPARD SKIN!

    Best photo background ever! ;)

    Great cart, nice find!

Senor Rom Hunter is trying to update his excellent public database of high-resolution label scans. LOCHJAW is such a rare one that a good label scan is hard to come by.

What he was probably hoping for was that you might just lay that puppy on a good-quality flat-bed scanner and run it a couple of times . . . :D

    However . . . LEOPARD SKIN FTW !

  10. Greetings, Atarians!

I am looking for the TOP shell of a 7800 to replace one I have that is cracked.

I would take the whole shell, if you insist, but I really only need the top. :)

Appearance is moderately important - - the metal label should be relatively unscuffed, for instance.

    $15, shipped, PayPal gift?

    Thanks for any assistance!

  11. Fantastic fellow to deal with - - sent me extra pictures of what I needed, his pricing was reasonable, and shipping was fast and secure!

I would recommend him to anyone.

  12. Hmm, very cool!

I am still searching for the perfect balance between price and function in order to connect something besides the stock 5200 controllers to my unit.

I have the gold-dot rebuilt BEST ELECTRONICS 5200 controllers, and I like them, but I desire to use the ATARI CX40 or even better, my EPYX 500 on my 5200.

Who made this converter you have, and how much was it? Are there any others still available?

Can you "piggyback" a regular 5200 controller to it so that you can use its keypad, or do you have to use the built-in one?

    Thanks for sharing!

  13. Hehe, I remember reading that post about the bath time...

The prob is not with the Power Switch (wish it was), but the plug port on the front side, it caved in and then came off...

Even when it was on firmly, it wasn't working right unless I moved the wire around to power on, which started to be less and less effective. Something isn't connecting inside that clear square plug, which sends power through to the chips.

You need to solder on a new power connector onto the board - -

    IMGP9455.JPG

Bradley Koda at Best Electronics will happily sell you some:

    http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/2600_Tech_Tips.htm#based

He's got a $25 minimum order. However, from reading up above, it seems like you need a few TIA ICs, or maybe a RIOT and/or 10745, which he has, so I think you can easily spend $25.

While you are at it, rebuild your CX40 joysticks - -

    http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/CX40_REBUILD%20KIT.htm

You'll thank me later - - it's an amazing upgrade! Check your firebuttons, too - - if the center plastic "nub" is worn down too far, it doesn't push on the circuit board correctly. Get a couple fresh buttons, perhaps, too.

The SEARS console is my favorite . . . love that swirly wood-grain!

  14. That's . . . a lot of carts . . . !

Quite a "nuclear option" for getting a few carts - - buy a giant collection! ;)

Did the ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD go out of business and sell you his library? :D

All kidding aside, looking forward to seeing the list!
