Wow, those are excellent - - "EMDURL" in particular. Nice psychedelic label! I am guessing "EMDURL" is maybe "ENDURO" and that "FROG MAN" is "FROGGER?" Good luck with your sale/trade! -a2a

To the top with 'ye - - new, fun things for the people of Planet Atari ! Final Fantasy CIB, a new rebuilt 2600 system for offer, and, err . . . umm, as well, all the old favorites I have been attempting to sell for months! Enjoy, and feel free to MAKE ME AN OFFER . . . ! -a2a -
SYSTEM SALE: Genesis, Sega CD, Game Gear, N64, GameCube

Yurkie is an amazing member of AtariAge who does top-shelf work on ColecoVision units - - http://www.atariage.com/forums/user/23318-yurkie/ I have a "Yurkie unit" and it is FANTASTIC - - worth the price of admission, and more! You would do well to buy this from AX, and at an excellent price, too! -a2a -
I dunno, that's not too bad. For another $30-40 there are plenty of shops that will swap cases and put in a new screen. I was just at a local guy's shop yesterday here in Denver who offers such a service. I think it's a good deal! I've been considering upgrading from my GBA SP backlit to a PSP so I can play ATARI and SNES emulators - - the one area that the GBA SP fails in! -a2a

My eye . . . it is drawn . . . TO THE LEOPARD SKIN! Best photo background ever! Great cart, nice find! Senor Rom Hunter is trying to update his excellent public database of high-resolution label scans. LOCHJAW is such a rare one that a good label scan is hard to come by. What he was probably hoping for was that you might just lay that puppy on a good-quality flat-bed scanner and run it a couple of times . . . However . . . LEOPARD SKIN FTW ! -a2a

Greetings, Atarians! I am looking for the TOP shell of a 7800 to replace one I have that is cracked. I would take the whole shell, if you insist, but I really only need the top. Appearance is moderately important - - the metal label should be relatively unscuffed, for instance. $15, shipped, PayPal gift? Thanks for any assistance! -a2a

Fantastic fellow to deal with - - sent me extra pictures of what I needed, his pricing was reasonable, and shipping was fast and secure! I would recommend him to anyone. -a2a

Hmm, very cool! I am still searching for the perfect balance between price and function in order to connect something besides the stock 5200 controllers to my unit. I have the gold-dot rebuilt BEST ELECTRONICS 5200 controllers, and I like them, but I desire to use the ATARI CX40 or even better, my EPYX 500 on my 5200. Who made this converter you have, and how much was it? Are there any others still available? Can you "piggyback" a regular 5200 controller to it so that you can use its keypad, or do you have to use the built-in one? Thanks for sharing! -a2a

Sears console issues + Atari VCS (6 switchers)
atari2atari replied to JacobZu7zu7's topic in Atari 2600
You need to solder on a new power connector onto the board - - Bradley Koda at Best Electronics will happily sell you some: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/2600_Tech_Tips.htm#based He's got a $25 minimum order. However, from reading up above, it seems like you need a few TIA ICs, or maybe a RIOT and/or 10745, which he has, so I think you can easily spend $25. While you are at it, rebuild your CX40 joysticks - - http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/CX40_REBUILD%20KIT.htm You'll thank me later - - it's an amazing upgrade! Check your firebuttons, too - - if the center plastic "nub" is worn down too far, it doesn't push on the circuit board correctly. Get a couple fresh buttons, perhaps, too. The SEARS console is my favorite . . . love that swirly wood-grain! -a2a -

But, but . . . why $50? http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=9155222 I can see some nice ones in there, but the final price seems excessive! I guess if you needed the Sesame Street games, it's a nice way to go. -a2a -
That's . . . a lot of carts . . . ! Quite a "nuclear option" for getting a few carts - - buy a giant collection! Did the ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD go out of business and sell you his library? All kidding aside, looking forward to seeing the list! -a2a

In the same vein is ARMY OF 2600, whose most recent album was just released by the record label that our very own forum member "Stan" runs - - http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/189710-army-of-2600-cd-preorder-special-for-aa-members-only/page__view__findpost__p__2399382 The music is similar, and the t-shirts that came with the package set were great - - I'm wearing mine today, actually! -a2a

Why are craigslist sellers so dellusional?
atari2atari replied to jetset's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
True, true - - ATARI sales have been sloooooooow this Christmas . . . ! Might be a trend thing, however - - all the refurbed Nintendo units I had went immediately, as opposed to last Christmas! I sold quite a few ATARI at $180 to $200 last Christmas, but I wasn't building them up as much at that time, either - - no gold dot circuit boards in the joysticks, for instance, and no paddle controllers included at all, even, sometimes! Wasn't replacing the zener diodes in the sixers, either. Since I added those "upgrades" this year I figured it priced out about right, however I think that the average craiglister has a "financial attention span" somewhere at or under $200 - - even for new XBOX 360s or PS3s. I think I might increase the game count in a few sets to nearly 100, and reduce / remove / or cherry-pick lesser games for other sets, just to switch it up a bit. Sometimes shuffling the stock or "appearance" helps . . . ! tldr (too long, didn't read summary) - - craigslist, prices crazy, yes, mine, maybe. and don't EVEN get me started on the frivolous flagging wars on there! -a2a -
Why are craigslist sellers so dellusional?
atari2atari replied to jetset's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Oh teh noes - - that's me asking $250 on craigs! Crap! Edit: dropped my price now! http://denver.craigs...2760751494.html Heh, okay, in all seriousness, though, I think that's a fair price - - for a completely rebuilt unit! Not for a "don't have cords, can't test . . . " unit that comes in a cat-pee-covered box. Thing is - - I'm part of the problem, not the solution. People see that, and then THEY ask $200 - $300 for their un-restored units. (For those that are curious, here's more detail of the parts and time I pour into a rebuilt unit: http://www.atariage....ost__p__2386591) FLAME ON if you desire - - I wore my asbestos underwear today! -a2a -
DONT BECOME A WATCHER UNLESS YOU INTEND TO MAKE A BID TO BUY IT
atari2atari replied to Toraborakid's topic in Auction Central
Well, I suppose at the opening price, it MIGHT be a deal . . . if Bubble Bobble 2 turns out to be a decent copy. That cart usually breaks $100 on completed eBay sales. -a2a -
The Great Atari 2600 Trade-Up STAGE 2!
atari2atari replied to krypton85's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
You sir, are a good gentleman. I like the cut of your jib. I shall entertain this game, and trade you up a bit (hope that jumping to R4 is not too much!) - - I will send AFTER Christmas, USPS First Class. PM me your information. I will send you my information, as well, so I make sure I get that HOT Pac-Man cart . . . to add to my pile of 20 or so Remember me when you reach the top . . . ! I assume this is the eventual goal - - -a2a -
Folks over in the "Marketplace" section will probably have more interest and experience in determining a potential price, if that's what you are looking for . . . MARKETPLACE [link] -a2a

TOTAL speculation, however - - - That style of "M" on the hat only came about in the 90s; prior to that, Mario was not identified by the "M" From Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario) : "Miyamoto developed Mario with the idea of using him as a "go to" character that could be put into any title as needed, albeit in cameo appearances, as at the time Miyamoto was not expecting Mario to become popular.[7] To this end, he originally called the character "Mr. Video", comparing his intent to have Mario appear in later games to the cameos done by Alfred Hitchcock within Hitchcock's films.[15] Over time, Mario's appearance has become more defined; both a red "M" in a white circle on the front of his hat and gold buttons on his overalls have been added. Miyamoto attributed this process to the different development teams and artists for each game as well as advances in technology as time has gone on.[12] Nintendo has never revealed Mario's full name, stating only that it was not "Mario Mario" despite the implication of the Mario Bros. series' title, its use in the film, and information given in the Prima official Guidebook to Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.[16]" - Given that such a design feature was not present when the original 2600 Mario or Donkey Kong were around, I think that our seller might have chopped a hat off, say, this collection - - And made a nice story up to sell his item. Just a speculation . . . -a2a
-
It . . . it . . . has a little hat on it! One wonders if perhaps the store the seller won it from simply glued a Mario hat onto a regular ATARI joystick? Since the "promotional" joystick never came with a box, it points to a "homebrew" Mario joystick . . . ? -a2a

Breakanoid Arcade Action fun for the Atari 2600 - Order Thread!
atari2atari replied to Mr SQL's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I'm not sure... are you able to use the paddles? They may work but the game has digital controls, save2600 was referring to analog paddles which I am not reading. Paddle control support would be a "must-have" feature for me, for sure! Exciting project, I was always bummed that Breakout and Super Breakout never had "power-ups!" Power ups in paddle/ball/block games to me seem crucial! One thing that those games have that Arkanoid clones never did, though, is the multiple "paddle modes" that Breakout had - - like the double stack, or two-player simultaneous. Any plans to support those modes? Thanks, watching with anticipation! -a2a
