Purchased Ogre Battle 64 - - deal was flawless, great level of communication, and the item arrived in good packaging, and was as-described. I would recommend doing business! -a2a

I've personally made this repair on the buffer chip multiple times to solve the "continuous fire" problem on player 1. I recommend obtaining a 16-pin IC socket part from Radio Shack, and soldering THAT in, after the annoying work of un-soldering the defective IC (lots of solder wick and flux!), and THEN slot in your new buffer to that nice socket! Radio Shack 16-Pin Retention Contact (link) IC sockets are fragile with respect to heat, and the process of soldering the 16 different pins will take some time, and add heat to the poor IC, potentially damaging it. Also, this makes the repair possible again in the future. It is typically caused by static electricity coming in from the controller port - - you might want to look into the "zener diode" repair for sixers that helps to reduce static effect, and of course the "static strips" over the reset/power/select switches are helpful, too. I will upload pictures later, to help illustrate. Cheers! -a2a Here are some images of my standard replacement method for the hex buffer IC. And, yes. You could just bypass it with two blobs of solder. If you wanted to. I do custom restorations and offer my customers "refurbished to factory spec - - or better!" quality, so I tend to do things the longer way. All these images came from a heavy sixer that I refurbed a month or so ago. Got it and a few original CX-10 joysticks in an original 1977 box for . . . very inexpensive. But, then I threw $60 of parts and time into it - - switches, new ICs, zener diodes, etc.! The unit had a note on it . . . Which read . . . Hmmm, I know what THAT is! So, the process - - The Radio Shack 16-Pin IC socket Clean, de-soldered area after faulty hex buffer has been removed Putting in the socket Finished soldering in the Radio Shack IC socket - - solder from the back, don't be afraid of using flux! Up-close solder job view: Socket, ready to receive the new, fresh hex buffer you bought - - you noted which way the old one was positioned before you de-soldered it, didn't you? (look for the "notch" on the IC as a marker!) Hope that helps, it's not too hard, and it brings it back up to perfect factory spec! -a2a BONUS PHOTOS: Here's a zener diode near the joystick port on a six-switcher after replacement, but before trimming the tails And, of course, the static strips (here just being installed on a 4-switch model)! HAVE FUN!

This is easily a several hundred dollar collection, possibly over $300+ . . . And that is if you were just in a hurry to get rid of it! If you receive no serious offers here, I would strongly suggest parting out the higher end items here (Mean 18 Golf CIB, Double Dragon for 2600, Dark Chambers CIB, just to spot a few) and/or on eBay. If you're in no hurry, there are a great deal of excellent items here, that sold slowly, will net you a good profit. -a2a

I know, big I., I know - - it's the danger of these sales! I always wonder where these puppies from my little shelter are going . . . hopefully not to the ePay sausage factory! If I could find some way to verify they are for personal use, I would do it . . However, I seriously wonder how many of those $115, Buy It Now, "RARE MINT COMPLETE SUPER AWESOME" Secret of Mana or Final Fantasy III listings ever complete . . . ? I would never buy them, but someone must . . . or do they? Ah well, at least in the end, it's more funds to distribute among my fellow AA'ers for more video game fun! -a2a -

ColecoVision w/ Box on Craigslist -- $50
atari2atari replied to Brian O's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Excellent deal, particularly given the games included. Insist on firing up console, testing games. Likely you will find a few issues, or observe difficulty in loading and or playing games with controllers. Offer $40 after testing. Then, send to Yurkie here at AA, and have that baby reconditioned to the MAX! End result - - retro pleasure! Good score, I recommend MOVING on it! -a2a -
Can't quite figure out why people are bidding this 4-pound bag of mixed 2600 and 7800 cartridges so high - - Shopgoodwill.com item #7538445 It's just BMX Airmaster - - the TNT version - - I wonder if anyone else sees something I don't? Interesting. Bidding behavior is always fascinating. -a2a
-
I would, I would - - but I already have my CIB copy. From childhood, even . . . ! I do need a loose copy of Zelda, however, to go with the box - - my high-school buddy borrowed the cart and enver returned it! Sheesh! -a2a
-
Great communication, fast shipper, and item was exactly as described - - I bought a Nintendo 64 game storage case from Duallies, and he was a pleasure to do business with. The packaging was good, too, with plenty of padding and well-protected! I would recommend doing business with him! -a2a
-
As well, picking up a copy of "Racing the Beam" is a great way to get a solid, and entertaining, understanding of the limits and abilities of the 2600. I just re-read it again recently, and it is STILL a great book! -a2a

Delivery Confirmation Arguments
atari2atari replied to the.golden.ax's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Feel your pain, AX. Misunderstandings by customers with the exact service provided by the USPS' "Delivery Confirmation" have led many sellers on eBay, my father included, to switch to FedEx. Removing the pain of dealing with the explanation, or just not being able to pinpoint a package at any moment seems worth the added expense, as my dad likes to point out. He deals in high-end, vintage instruments for a major musical retailer on eBay, and can't really afford missteps. You think video game purchasers are hard? Try these vintage guitar guys! It won't likely help, but you can try pointing your customer the the FAQs on the USPS' web site, that explicitly state that the particular service they purchased only provides Delivery Confirmation, not "Tracking," which is a separate USPS service and costs extra: USPS - Tracking vs. Confirmation of Delivery Good luck, mate . . . -a2a -
FS: GBA system, N64 Game Storage Unit, ROB parts
atari2atari replied to Duallies's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
PM Sent on N64 Case! -
Somewhat off-topic, yet not - - The Angry Video Game Nerd has his 100th video game review up, which features Rob the Robot: www.gametrailers.com ScrewAttack Productions - Angry Video Game Nerd: R.O.B. the Robot Fantastic, as usual, if you are into that sort of thing! -a2a P.S. - If you enjoy this, his 99th episode featured a review of the Star Wars franchise over the years in video games, and he featured a few of the Atari 2600 Star Wars games: Angry Video Game Nerd: Star Wars Games Notable quote (loosely phrased from video): "That sums up almost all Atari games - - 'star-ship-laser-go-boom'!"

I agree wholeheartedly, with all your points. Someone advises them . . . that's why it didn't end up in a nice lot of commons, tucked in there as a treat . . . I think eBay advises them, however - - someone just queries items and determines if they are worth something. -a2a
-
Of note, two auctions on shopgoodwill.com that, in my opinion, are already double the general asking price of these types of cartridges - - shopgoodwill.com Item # 7515066 shopgoodwill.com Item # 7515020 - - but I don't know, maybe these are currently in high demand, and this is why people are bidding on them, even with days left? Be curious to see how the bids end. -a2a

WANTED: start-up disc for the Game Boy Player
atari2atari replied to SpendTooMuchOnAtari's topic in Wanted
That's what I ended up doing last year, myself - - it felt worth it, it was brand new and there was zero hassle. The GameBoy Player coupled with an EZ Flash 4 cartridge is gaming HEAVEN, I must say - - all the gaming you could desire . . . on that unit . . . of those types of games . . . etc., etc . . . -a2a -
I'll be a bit more constructive, too - - I watch and buy lots of NES games regularly. Unless there is a feeding frenzy for some particular game that drives bidding up, you can go about a buck to four bucks per game. How about we settle at two dollars a game until we figure out your rarities, and say that a lot of 200+ GAMES would go for nearly $400 (this number assumes some nice, but not astounding rarities in the mix, etc.), and the HARDWARE at around $200. So, maybe $600, if you find someone that wants to take it all . . . . . .you rarely do, though right, fellows, RIGHT? CAN I GET AN AMEN?? -a2a
-
Hmm . . . without names, yes, hard to say, so I will have to guess . . . One . . . million dollars! Couple hundred of hardware, at least. Any game highlights, at least? Got some super-rares in there? We talking boxes, instructions, loose . . . -a2a EDIT: Not everyone loves it, but it's a fast way to get some value ideas - - go to RarityGuide.com - NES view and sort by value, loose cart - - here, I linked it for you: RarityGuide.com NES View Sorted By Loose Cart Value So . . . how many of those little top-devils do ya have . . . ? In my experience, that's what gets the buyer - - the large lot with enough top dollar stuff that they are willing to accept the dupes and low-value items in with it . . .
