    Greedy merchants

Over here in the UK some stores back in the day like Woolworths were always expensive with not just Atari 2600 but computers and consoles in general,i remember Woolworths selling the 2600 Jnr with various twin packs of games (silver label versions) and they werre quite expensive even in the very late stages before the system was finally taken off the shelves.
  2. I can just image Howard Scott sitting back in a chair holding something like that,i wonder if the game itself is different in any way.
  3. I got a few blisters but quite happy with the original A2600 classic joystick and never really looked elsewhere for alternatives with that system, but with later consoles and computers like the Sega Master system,Spectrum upto the Amiga i did try various joysticks and pads. If your playing a game like Track and Field where you need to waggle the joystick then your choice could be vital though.
  4. Click on the link above to view their examples. I guess the box artist was not the programmer so i am not sure anybody expected the cover to look like the game,Adventure had a maze,Dragon and castle on the cover which represents what is to be found in the game that is enough.
  5. The arcade game was quite good.
  6. I agree - E.T is not trash just a rush job lol, your right about the kids today put them on a 2600,Spectrum or classic arcade game and it blows them away!,they are so used to game solutions in mags the same month a game is released and internet tips they have no idea of real preasure and puzzle solving.
  7. Not genuine as the guy is not nerdy enough
  8. I like the horizon on Chopper Command it gives a nice perspective to the playing area,as the band of colors are not to high it sets a huge feeling of distance for the desert.
  9. Strange i always thought they were 6

    homebrews ftw!

It looks like the inside of my goldfish tank (only kidding),but now i look at it if some pixelated fish were start scrolling from from both sides of the screen left and right it could be the beginning of a game.
  11. I am surprised the 2600 was able to do a pinball game at all but it pulled it of quite well i thought,i knew PFII would be up there but not quite as high as 2nd and Kaboom and H.E.R.O are a pleasent surprise.
  12. I do not recall ever playing MC3D on Jag and i am a fan of the arcade original which i have played on Atari Anniversary on PS and GBA systems without much problem,i thought the cursor would overshoot with a joypad but it was actually prettty good. It sounds like MC3D is woth checking out.
  13. A can of furniture polish, can of air duster and a paintbrush to help clean the top cover-quite satisfying once cleaned.
  14. Yes i would play it,excellent idea. The jag could do it easy i mean fixed backgrounds with large foreground characters?,even the Zx speccy could do that (although it might be monochrome )
  15. To be honest we had seen puzzle games before with led/backlit hand held games or devices like `Simon` i think the appearence of the home console was really out to improve gaming in the home which might explain why there were so few puzzle games made-we had simply moved on,also some games like Raiders Of the Lost Ark and Adventure did have a puzzle element included in the game play which would of been much more interesting to people. To be honest i don`t think anybody looked back until Tetris and Columns were released,i certainly did not.
  16. Yeah get the new cable to eliminate the fault as the guys have said the RF is notorious on the JAG,although if that fails to solve the issues i am afraid it would not be the first faulty system i have known out of a sealed box.
  17. As a collector owning at least one of each model seems right,i use mainly the Jr as my original wood effect developed a fault many years ago. I have a few Jr`s with a broken underside case where they have been either dropped or just thrown around by people in storage.
  18. Yeah you made the right move there it sounds like it had developed a logic fault, hope the new purchase does not let you down.
  19. I was certain it was a brownie... certain... fairly certain... I hope... Man...now I won't sleep tonight either... anybody wanna buy a cleaned, "poop free" Smurfs cartridge...CHEAP! Yeah some one could of used it as a buttplug, imagine the fun you could have with a `double-ender` cart loool
  20. 1. Haunted House 2. Berzerk 3. Raiders Of the Lost Ark 4. Riddle Of The Sphinx 5. Pitfall 6. Ms.Pacman 7. Frogger 8. Adventure 9. Atlantis 10.Tutankham
  21. Haunted House,Berzerk and Defender is kind of spooky with the ghostlike hands grabbing the people.
  22. Thinking back the first silver box i recall seeing is one of my fav games Raiders Of The Lost Ark,also possibly E.T i have no idea if they were the first in Silver boxes though.
  23. I do not recall seeing a bad version of Flashback on any format as they are all quite similar to be honest so i would certainly choose Flashback!,its an interesting game and challenging later on. But that price seems okay for Jag games anyway if your collecting or just curious
  24. Pacman,Space Invaders,Combat and Yars Revenge were the most common carts i remember people owning as a kid,Pitfall! and The Empire Strikes Back was the most popular non-Atari games i remember people owning, but despite the popularity of a Classic like Pitfall i just cannot imagine it selling more than the most common Atari carts.
