mine still has the price writen on that i paid for it 20p (i am in UK of course) and to be honest i am in the minority and not one of the E.T hate mob
as i did not already own it in my collection i may of even paid more for it £2-£3 perhaps.I think i purchased it in the 90`s and back then outdoor markets or `carboots` as we call them were commonplace and held on various green sites every weekend and a great place to pick up retro game stuff.

I would agree with most of those mentioned above but i also have respect for programmers of my own personal favourite games even if they were responsible for a few other trash tiltes or just made one game, programmers like-
James Andreasen (for Haunted House)
Warren Robinett (for Adventure)
Bob Smith (for Riddle Of The Sphinx)
Howard Scott Warshaw (for Raiders of the lost ark and Yars Revenge)

`Riddle Of The Sphinx` is one of my favourite Atari 2600 games it uses both joysticks and even the tv switch is used to change between menus.

I agree with Imagic being one of the best producers of games with good graphics, although `Atlantis` graphics are somewhat plain they are very neat.
I also like some of the graphics used on `Raiders Of The Lost Ark` by Atari

Did I make the right decision ?

Yes i think you did,to me Snes games play better and are far more interesting not just to play but also to collect.

The 2600Jr looks neat,i have an Atari Irish Jr somewhere which has a dark horizontal strip across the top case instead of shinny one

Frogger and Tutankham
I do not think i could seperate the two as i do like Frogger as a classic game but i respect the 2600 version because there is quite a lot moving around in the game but Parker managed to do it.
Tutankham i like because it is some what aggressive especially later on

You need to make sure the solder also runs onto the boards tracks attached to the component legs otherwise it just builds up into a blob,so after desoldering the voltage regulator it might be worth scraping some of the green foil away first on the conections before soldering the VR back in place, the `Axial` Electrolytic Capacitors are worth changing as they can become inefficient over time, obviously it helps if its the same type `Axial` and must be same capacitance as the one you are replacing whatever that should be (in Farads eg 2200mF or 220mF) should be easy to find a replacement capacitor from a Electronic store like Maplins or whoever.
If its not easy to find then a same rated axial capacitor in Farads but with a Higher working voltage can also be used but it may be bigger in physical size.

Tron cocktail sounds interesting,i have seen a few pics of them on various arcade collecting forums and the enviromental cabinets too that you stand inside, very very nice indeed.
Intersting timing too getting rid of a Tron cocktail after the new film has been released :-)

If you can plug a numberpad like controller in to the front of the cleaner as an option to move it manually then that would be a dead give away

You do not really have to disassemble the pots. Just get a can of electronic parts cleaner at your local RS and dowse them in it. Twist the pot stem back and forth about 10-20 times and all should work well. Jitters be gone!... along with the high-viscosity grease that was put in them by design to give them that smooth physical resistance. Which is fine, if you like your paddle knobs to be much easier to turn. But if you want to keep the original feel, better to stick with the disassemble-and-clean method.
I agree with just using a switch contact cleaner too, this should suffice.I mean after all the paddles just rotate left and right i do not expect or remember how paddles used to feel its not like i am going to make love to them

There are quite a few to choose from but i was not keen on quite a few of the early Atari and i do not think some types of sport can be simulated very well with such poor tech-spec.Lets face it ET and Pacman are far from the worst games its just people felt dissapointed and cheated after what were simply rushed jobs but i would rarther play either than Tic Tac Toe
Here is just a few off the top of my head:-
Brain Games
3D Tic Tac Toe
Boxing
Tunnel Runner
RS:Baseball
RS:Football
Bowling
Video Olympics
Street Racer
Code Breaker
River Patrol
Canyon Bomber
Football
Title Match Pro Wrestling

Sonic the Hedgehog 1 was better on the Sega Master System than on Genesis.
I do not really agree with this either and i think most versions of Marble Madness were close to the arcade.
I too prefer the Atari 2600 asteroids to the arcade and i think that the VCS version of Berzerk is better than anything that has tried to clone the arcade game on any other format since. The C64 version of Operation wolf is better than the Amiga version because of the speed of play and this also implies to games made classic on the SNES but remade boring on the N64 inc Starfox,Mario Kart,F-zero.I am very tempted to mention the BBC version of Elite as well

Favorite game at the moment?
