  1. Too many games to choose and they do change over time but here goes for my fav`s at this time- Cavelord Hard Hat Willy Elektra Glide Final Legacy Encounter Like I say they may change by next week lol
  2. No to god mode! Play as intended as a marine in a dark room and feel the hairs stand up on the back of your neck as you explore and get deeper into the complex... ANYTIME!
  3. All I can do really is echo what has already been said but for me personally - Alens Vs Predator Doom Tempest 2000 Raiden Rayman perhaps also add `Flashback` if you have not played it previously on Genesis or Snes
  4. Impossible Mission is good but some patience is required lol.
  5. They are subject to change as with any other system I play but my top 5 in any order at this precise moment are- Berzerk Rescue On Fractalus H.E.R.O Dreadnaught Factor Joust Really struggled to split Ms.Pacman and Joust for the fifth option but the later got it after some deep thought.
  6. I agree, it is text and colour variations like this that make A2600 collecting real interesting, Gotta get them all! I have scans of mine and you can also see variation with the primary colour on the same game ,look at Yars revenge and Frostbite. more scans here http://www.jammajup.co.uk/atari.html
  7. looks okay but I am not big on re-hashes and remakes as I like to just keep it RR (Real Retro)
  8. Just good old Space Invaders, so many variations...
  9. This is interesting as I saw this in the recent topics window and clicked it hoping it was regarding a B/W display problem and it is!!!!, I have a SMS version 1 (Power base) with built in snail game and it does not display colour, I am sure though I checked voltage when I last had it apart. I am tempted to get it back out on the repair bench now,if I do solve the problem I will post the solution here.
  10. That is real nice,I have good memories of watching and playing that game. I was a little too young to witness the long lines of people waiting to play a single arcade game in the arcades but I do recall some lines or crowd of folk around a Dragons Lair cabinet. Simply jaw dropping it was, I hope you get it 100%.
  11. Bio Hazard Battle ,Battle Squadron ,Streets Of Rage 3 , Pink Goes To Hollywood Pink Goes To Hollywood is annoying, one of those platformers were you need to jump of the edge of a platform but he slips off and falls just as you press jump..AAAArrrg!.
  12. True a lot of money would of been spent on these projects back then and they did over do it with production for what was an average game, but notoriety has somehow spawned into complete hate for some people which is baffling to me. It would depend how old you were regarding the hype for the game of course as I was 11 years old in 1982 and had no knowledge of the game its hype or marketing until I made a new friend in high school and was invited around for Atari, I then saw E.T and Pacman for the first time as we both sat in front of the tv and played both games without complaint. We were old enough to know a poor game for sure but I do not recall complaining about any Atari game , we fell down the pits and hovered back out and just got on with it! and Pacman was not expected to look like the arcade version just like Asteroids and Space Invaders as it was an Atari VCS and we understood that even as kids. I did not truly know of the cauldron of hate for E.T on Atari 2600 until I became a full multi-format retro gamer in 2010, I started joining plenty of retro gaming forums and message boards and I reckon out of the 16 or so forums I am a member of 3/4 must have an E.T and Pacman thread.
  13. Lunar lander in some form or other ,I now the question of LL on Atari 2600 has been asked before ( http://atariage.com/forums/topic/161502-is-there-lunar-lander-and-pool-for-2600/ ) but I just think the thrust sound and collision explosion would be easily covered and after all Asteroids was vector and the 2600 version of that was very good.
  14. I think most of my fav sounds would be the player dying effects. I like the firing sound on Chopper Command and also like the explosion of the player dying on Space Invaders, Berzerk and loosing the king in Warlords. Perhaps the background HUUmmmm-HUUUmmm in Yars Revenge too.
  15. As said many times before no it is not the worst and neither is Pacman, they were just rushed projects. For bad games try tictac-toe,bowling and some sport games for a bad playing experience, the hatred for E.T is just some people (many who were not even born back then) surfing a tsunami of hatred created by an earthquake of misinformation and misunderstanding.
  16. Get friends round and plug in Warlords for a great time for all involved - Trash talk optional lol.
  17. Just regular stuff from me but I can still power these games up and enjoy them today. AVP Raiden Doom Rayman Tempest 2000
  18. I still do play it but just to get Howards initials on screen.
  19. Phoenix is better by a mile, far more going on and it has a little more variety.Demon Attack is way to repetitious and shallow.
  20. I went from my first console (Atari 2600) to my first computer which was the ZX Spectrum.
  21. Fav Riddle Of the Sphinx ,Trickshot - I still say ROTS was just advanced for its time when most people were used to button mashing,so the game is missunderstood. Worst Demon Attack - looks cool, plays about as interesting as a party political broadcast. The few others I played are just average.
  22. I felt the same way after playing Pitfall II,looks good but played like an utter pig.I am trying to recall now wether it is a bat or bird that flies at you on the second or third screen and it took an age to pass it as I could not get under it,when I did finally pass I became infuriated with being sent back to a checkpointIf there has not yet been a 'most aggravating A2600 game thread' Pitfall II is my nomination lol
  23. Yeah I am trying to think of something really easy but I am unable, perhaps my own favorite game Lady Bug?.At least doors can be arranged to for a small box like sanctuary for a while.
  24. Yeah Robot Tank has a few more interesting things going on and is not quite as repetitious therefore I can play it longer, not too keen on the big block bullet fired at you though. Lol
  25. Riddle Of The Sphinx using different console switches to access and view stats and menus was just too much for the majority of single button bashing enthusiasts that we all were back then, the game play is actually more involving and deeper than it first appears and so along with the multi controller Raiders Of The Lost Ark it was actually revolutionally and the programmers were ahead of the time.
