Ghost`n Goblins is not too bad but just as annoying and aggravating as the original

Apparently E.T. for Atari 2600 is much worse than we thought
R.O.T.S replied to yipyop's topic in Atari 2600
I quite like the sound in the E.T game, especially of the spacecraft -
I have never had an interest in the cd to be honest and i have never even seen one except in pics on the web

Sounds like your looking to play Street fighter 2 or something but want a better controller ,is there no Gen pad around at all that will do the job you want?

Instability like that could be a voltage problem,i hope its nothing to serious or something that can be easily replaced like a voltage regulator or capaciotor or something.

Great scores there,i own the arcade board - it is one of my prize possessions and i cannot even dream of scores like that lol

I use KAT5200 and have never had trouble with anything yet ,you will just need to tell where all your files are,etc http://kat5200.jillybunch.com/

Cool box art too with those hand like beams reaching down

It is one of my favourite atari 2600 carts and i finally it managed to find the time to sit down with it last year,i completed it on all nine games but i was having problems with game 7 so after completing games 8 and 9 i had to go back to it and it was another day or so before i managed to get good variance and crack level 7. . If you want my advice get some paper and do a rough diagram of what doors are blocked on each game level it will save a lot of time in finding your way back to the ground level and exit door when you get all 3 pieces, this is what i had to do with the later levels (and still had trouble with game 7 lol)

Upside down labels do not bother me too much personally but i can image it annoys some people,i guess there may be the odd cart collector who may even see extra value in them.

I have a Pitfall!-T with the green box art design and it looks cool but its a really lightweight-T and i am terrified i will snag it on something sharp, got to be one of my favourite T`s though

I agree with Raiders Of The Lost Ark,it was not just the snake but the game as a whole it was just so damn weird.

Do you anticipate getting video game stuff for "The Holidays"?
R.O.T.S replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
I may treat myself to something retro / classic gaming related like atari 2600 carts or some cheap Dreamcast games.Money seems really tight this year though -
Its a nice item and it looks a little worn (used) which is how i like things,i am the same with arcade cabs and most other retro gaming items as i like them to look used and not referbished. It is interesting to see what this may be worth.

I use a cheap pc multi button analog joypad from `GAME` store, one of those with turbo and analog on/of button.I agree that it should not matter what the joypad is -if its usb and you have selected joystick in mame settings it should work,if not you could try another usb port. PS of course remember to plug usb joypads in before starting mame or any emulator so it can be detected.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark is one of my favourites 2600 games but its as wierd as a caffeine fueled dream,i still get an odd feeling when playing it today.

What is your favorite 2600 Space Invaders type shooter?
R.O.T.S replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
This is one of the most interesting polls i have seen for a while ,i had to really think hard about it and even replay some games to help me decide. Straight away i narrowed it down to just five games :-Demon Attack,Galaxian,Megemania,Phoenix and Space Invaders but after deep thought Phoenix gets the vote,i think its a job well done and as it is quite fast paced it satisfies my short attension span more lol -
WOAH! A modern take on Rescue on Fractulas!?
R.O.T.S replied to OldSchoolRetroGamer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Quite good but i feel it needs to take off and land alittle more realistically with thrusters throwing up clouds of dust, etc. -
1982/1983: What computer were you using in 1982/1983?
R.O.T.S replied to Blues76's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
Computer Brand and Model (the computer you were using during 1982/1983 - ZX Spectrum 48K When did you get it? (e.g., 1979 which could be before 82,83)- First played then obtained one in 83' or 84'. Did you have a modem? - No. Printer? - No . From your friends of that time, if they had a computer, which computer was that one (at least brand)? - close friends ZX Spectrums but at high school as a whole the playground banter suggested ZX Spectrum 60% / Commodore 64 30% / Amstrad Cpc 10% Country? - UK. If you were in school, what grade? (1-12) or college? or working? or retired? - High School (or secondary as its known now) 1982-87 or age 12-16 -
Star Wars (Arcade),nice easy decision although The Empire Strikes Back (2600) would be not far behind in 2nd

How old were you when you played your first Atari 2600 game?
R.O.T.S replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
It would be way back,i remember going round a school friends house and playing on an Atari 2600 (VCS) for the first time and that would be the early stages at high school (82-87).So it would be in the early part probably 82/83 which means as i was born in1971 that i would either have been 11 or 12. Good memories though of Missile command,Pacman,Pele`s Soccer,Space Invaders. -
Just came across this flash game and its in a advanced Atari 2600 style,my knowledge on programming is limited but just to satisfy my curiosity could a game like this be done today on an Atari console with additional cart ram, etc.? http://www.nekogames.jp/mt/2009/05/underworld_trip.html

I agree with the general cause being too many people appearing on the scene and saturating the market with poor games and i bet some of these people did not last very long either but i agree with Master.P its sort of ironic that now its these lesser known unusual rare 3rd party carts that have some value to collectors.

I have been in that situation but later regretted selling some of my collection when my financial position did get better. ,no one can predict the future though and you have to do what you must to survive at the time.
