  1. Hello everyone, My new book The Unauthorized Atari 2600 Sports Almanac is now available for purchase on Amazon in paperback and Kindle formats. I would like to thank those of you who participated in the surveys, submitted scores and feedback, etc. It's written in the style of early 1980's video game strategy paperbacks on cream paper, etc. Covers 38 Atari 2600 sports games. Enjoy & thank you! http://a.co/aHHHW01
  2. Hello, Some of you may already know this from the AtariAge Facebook group but I hadn't shared this here in the forums. Anyways, my new book The Unauthorized Atari 2600 Sports Almanac is set to be released later this month and we are still accepting Atari 2600 Sports Game highscores/world records through the 10th of August. If you have scores you'd like included in the book details on how to include them can be found here: https://goo.gl/forms/gaP9KrHSzoL8gmfK2 Other details about the book can be found here: http://www.mikesalzman.com/2017/08/02/new-book-atari-2600-sports-almanac/ Thank you everyone whose submitted scores thus far. -Mike
  3. For those of you who are interested in the five Easter Eggs and how to access them I've summarized them here: http://www.videogamepriceguides.com/blog/2013/12/endless-snow-2600-easter-eggs/ Did not want to post them here directly as I did not want to spoil it for anyone who might be trying to find out how to access them on their own.
  4. Got my copy in the mail today. Just wanted to say the CMS did an incredible job putting it together!
  5. Kraken Attack is a game I threw together over the weekend, its inspired by the old Nintendo Game And Watch game Octopus. Rom and source is available here: http://www.salzmafia.com/blog/2013/11/25/kraken-attack-for-atari-2600-rom-and-source-code-available/ Enjoy.
  6. Yeah me too. I was trying to port the Arcade version as close as possible.
  7. It's already made. The game is complete and will be released in cartridge format by CMS. I made a goofy commercial of the game, http://youtu.be/lfOGOiorBRg But the screen shots and video is a pre-final version the final version has lines cleaned up, full option menu for 1P, 1P VS CPU, 1P VS 2P, and DEMO. The label used as my avatar was used to make a shirt for a different project.
  8. Here is latest video if you're interested. Ninja Champ 2600
  9. Hold fire and press away for medium block, fire and away and up for high block, fire down and away for low block.
  10. Just a brief update. Blocking has been added, mode select screen (1 player, VS, Demo) has been added, three different backgrounds added. Health bars added, and "sparks" for when contact has been made have been added. More screen shots and video soon..
  11. I have but the workbook I use can do a lot more. I can join sprites next to each other, stretch the columns to see what the sprite would look like double and triple size etc, compare color schemes, etc. Also I can work on stuff from my job as well :-)
  12. It is bB, but I do the sprites in Excel in a workbook I created.
  13. I present to you a weekend project. Ninja Champ 2600 (tentative title of course). This is inspired by the Karate Champ arcade game. It already has 1 player, 2 players VS and Demo/Attract mode. A few more features are still to be added including pain and defeat animations, health bars, etc. Enjoy as I know I did. Gameplay footage is available at my site salzmafia.com, if there is interest I'll post periodic updates here.
  14. Yes it is an experiment for a 2600 port of Choplifter, good eye!
  15. Yeah, it was something like that.. Problem solved! Thanks again for everyone's help!
  16. I spoke to soon... once a digit (lets say 5 and 6) get between 10 - 15 the score graphics get scrambled then correct themselves at 16. What could I be doing wrong?
  17. This worked perfectly! Thanks! At first I kept having digit 4 flicker a 9, but then moved the code just before drawscreen and it solved it.
  18. There has now been a change in direction, how about just hiding the two center digits?
  19. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/124520-a-few-new-score-kernels/
  20. Hi, I've searched and searched, and I found a thread that had a couple different score kernels/modules to separate the score into two - 3 digit scores, but I need the opposite, I need 3 two digit scores. Right now, in my code the left two digits represent player one, the two in the middle are a timer, and the two on the right are player 2's score. If I can separate all three sets that would be awesome! I.E From 129912 to 12 99 12 something like that would be perfect! Any help would be appreciated!
  21. Is there a way to randomly change the colors of a multicolored sprite? If so how do you do it without a bunch of jumps to different "player0color"s?
  22. That looks fantastic! Perhaps I should reconsider my original thought design.
  23. After researching these helpful forums and a few other sites I've decided to build a set of SEGA Genesis to 7800 controller adaptors for the 2nd button functionality and to prevent the mutilation of a perfectly good SEGA Genesis controller. While I have found plenty of information by way of schematics what I have not found is an actual picture of one built. I don't believe I can make it any shorter than 4 inches long which makes me wonder if it would cause too much stress when plugged in the controller port, or if it would be better to add a few inches of wire slack so the components themselves and the Genesis plug rest on a table. Any thoughts on this would be most helpful. Thanks!
