  1. Satoshi Matrix, this is actually my system, so now you've got me curious. If the box and manual are real, does that mean that there is an HVC-001 with turbo switches on the 2nd controller (as shown on the box)? Also, the manual is missing the "double f" on the top left, and the "TM". I've scoured everywhere on the internet and have yet to find a single picture that matches this one exactly. If I do open it, would there be any indication of where this clone originated from?
  2. Here is the photo of the cart. I also want to clarify that in my original post I said my friend had tried their copy... what I meant to say is they tried my copy and it worked (no distorted picture) but the colors were messed up. Thanks!
  3. Hi all. About a month ago a obtained a copy of Stargate for Atari 2600 at a used game store here in Las Vegas for $2. When I attempted to play it, the screen "rolls" which I immediately believed to be one of two issues. The first was that my AV mod didn't like this title, or 2, the copy is PAL. Today I had the opportunity to try the game on an unmodified 4 switch 2600 and it did the same thing, then I tried it on a 7800 and same thing. I've tried hard to find a label variation or any detail to prove that my copy is PAL but haven't been able to find anything. Further, a friend tried their copy on their TV and it worked (didn't roll) but the colors seemed "off". With out having PAL hardware, what can I do, or how can I tell if my copy is indeed the PAL version? I understand that "rolling" could be a symptom, I just want to satisfy my curiousity... Thanks! Below is a photo of what the screen looks like
  4. PILGRIM in the Microworld Thank you so much everyone! I've been going nuts trying to figure this out. It is a very interesting read.
  5. About ten years ago I bought a book from a thrift store which was about Breakout (or Super Breakout) for the 2600. The author talked about his experience with the game of how he'd go to parties and people would be to busy playing the game instead of drinking and stuff like that. It wasn't a strategy guide by any means even though he talks about some strategies in it. It was more about his experiences with the game. It was hardback, and I believe a mostly black cover. I can't remember the name and I can't find my copy and google is just giving me junk. Help!
  6. i like the "atari conspiracy": http://www.salzmafia.com/blog/2010/11/28/archeologists-dig-up-atari-2600-games/ I'm a dork what can I say.
  7. I want everyone to know that I am for sure willing to sell my Funvision Karate. For those unfamiliar, I received this cartridge about 11 years ago from a girlfriend who got it from her father who travelled frequently to the Philippines and to Australia. From what I understand from the feedback of other collectors, this version is PAL. It doesn't work properly on an NTSC system (the pictures rolls up the screen). You can make your own determination on the condition of the cartridge via the attached photo (additional photos at salzmafia.com) My preference is to sell the cartridge in person for cash $250 USD or best offer (up or down ). I am currently located in Las Vegas NV (USA). If I am unable to receive a serious offer and a date to make the exchange by the end of the year I will list it on eBay and open it up for international shipping, etc. If you have questions feel free to ask them here, send me a private message, or text me at 702.723.8484 I want to thank everyone here who sent me private messages earlier giving me clarity on this cartridge. ~Salzman
  8. I didn't want to post on an old thread about the T-Handle Karate, but since it's a topic again I figured I'd ask. And forgive me if this has been answered before but I've had difficulty getting clarity. I have a copy of Karate with the T-Handle. It has a clear FunVision sticker on it. I'm assuming its the PAL version since the screen rolls on an NTSC system. If this is worth anything at all and what would be the most I could expect for it? I received this copy about 11 years ago from a girlfriend who originally got it from her father who traveled to Australia and the Philippines often. I don't know if this is where he got it from.
  9. I never thought about this, but you are absolutely right. The addition of an attract mode / title screen really enhanced (at least to me) the appeal of the game. Moon Patrol specifically comes to mind. It wasn't just plain text either, there was a deliberate design to the letters. Nice catch. And reflecting on Ms. Pac-Man the programmer(s) the attact mode is pretty involved, and probably one of the nicer ones.
