  1. got most of the parts I need. 1N914 Diodes, 1K resistors, 4.7k resistors, 1 uf Tantaium capacitor, 2 spst switches @ Radio Shack down the street. cost $12.00 2.2 uf Tantaium Capacitor, GROM chip holder, Lithium Cell and holder @ Frys. cost $ 4.00 Frys carried but didn't have in stock the 68 ohm resistor (typical of Frys). SO, I will need to get off the web 43256-12LP CMOS RAM and the 68 ohm resister. Anybody got a good source where I can find the CMOS?
  2. good thought about the socket, thanks. de-soldering the GROM is my biggest fear.
  3. First off, I looked through the treads and couldn't find a good description on building a super cart so if there is already a thread just re-direct. Now, A Super Cart is an almost most must have for the TI-99. So I decided to start a thread for those who might want to build one. It doesn't look to difficult for those with average solder skills (I hope I'm not being naive) so here I go. So I got a super cart PCB from arcade shopper and now want to build it. I got about average soldering skills so I don't think that will be a problem and have been testing de-soldering / soldering chips or junk cartridges. I got a E/A cartridge I plan to remove the GROM from and a got a good black shell (hate the beige). I plan to add to the post as I build for anyone interested in building one. First question, I have yet to get the other items on the build list so if anyone knows a good place for getting stuff like CMOS RAM and the such that I can't get from Radio Shack, MicroCenter or Frys please post. I am going to get what I can today from Radio Shack and will post how far I get.
  4. cost cutting. The case went from 6 or 7 parts (counting the switch) down to 4. And that metal overlay was defiantly an unnecessary expenses. Plus the beige would use less color in the mold thus cutting cost more. May not looked as classy but by then TI was all but giving the console away.
  5. must have missed that post. His is better
  6. slightly different integration of the map into the booklet. FYI, this is un-official. Rasmus may be working on manual of his own. SabreWulf-booklet-v2.pdf
  7. added a second file to the original post of a map added to the end of the booklet. It might look too small on some .pdf readers
  8. couldn't figure out how to add the map without making it sideways or way too small.
  9. added .doc and .pdf format for those who can't open .odt open and tested it. If anyone edits it, just repost .odt or .doc
  10. Created a q&d manual for Sabre Wulf from the info for the Spectrum; since I couldn't figure out what was going on . It's in .odt, .doc, .pdf format if anyone wants to edit it. also attached a .jpg map. second file is .pdf of booklet & map sabrewulf.zip booklet-map.pdf
  11. You know that was what was so schizophrenic about the TI-99 line. The console was aimed at the (cheap) VIC-20 crowd while the PEB was aimed at the (expensive) Apple II crowd. Last chasing the white rabbit, back to Sabre Wolf
  12. That's what I meant was putting the 32k in the console, sorry. I saw somewhere where someone had put the 32k in the console and it didn't look too complected (well for an engineering type anyway). I was in school at the time the TI-99 was being sold and working at a local store that sold them. At the time I couldn't understand why TI seemed to be aiming it's console sales more at the VIC-20 (which was far inferior) then the C-64. Anyway, somewhere in an alternate reality TI did the right thing and in that universe everyone now owns a TI-99 compatible PC.
  13. Oh, forgot 512k cart had no GROM. Not quite skill set for ubergrom burning yet.
  14. like a games 1 & 2. a side note, wasn't there talk at one time of a RXB or did I miss it?
  15. That's one of the biggest failings, I think, that TI should addressed when they came out with the v2 beige model, adding 64k. by then RAM prices had come way down, TI should had added the RAM and kept selling the thing at a reasonable price instead of (literally) giving the console away after rebate. Oh well, what should of, would of...
  16. got three Lantonix UDS-10 Serial to Ethernet devices to sale. I just got 5 and keeping two. Not tested (just don't have the time) will sale for cost of shipping $15 US, we'll talk about it outside US. just send me a message if you want one.
  17. well guys (and girls), I just bought five Lantronics UDS devices really cheap. I'll be selling three shortly but would like to know of would be a good way to test them before I put them up for sale. Got a PC with a serial port, any ideas?
  18. Got one. $35.00 includes shipping. He's got several left if anyone wants one.
  19. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 251676890031 is this what we need to get on the internet?
  20. With a PEB or a nanopeb/CF7+, a F18a 80 column and nascent internet capabilities we have a fairly contemporary 1980s era machine. If we come up with a decent GUI for funnelweb we'd have something that really kick butt.
  21. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 281472710808 some nice 99/4 (not a) stuff. wish he would have broke it up.
  22. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 221576312487 These gram krackers seem to go up in price every time some one post them.
