thanks for the tip. I managed to get around the block by setting up one my browsers with a proxy address. I'll contact Don and let him know what up soon.
-
If I understand you, you think it might be lizard hill blocking time warner?
-
I think I figured out what's wrong. I looks like Time Warner is either blocking Lizard Hill (whtech provider) or has the wrong address in a DNS server. Gawd I don't want to call Time Warner on this, I might as well be asking a lamp shade to technical help.

got it to work after doing a flushdns on my laptop and trying at a coffee shop. looks like my home router may have the wrong address in it's cache table.
-
yup. If you can get on and I can't I'll figure it out eventually, but this is weird.
-
odd. starting about a week ago I can't get onto the whtech.com site on any computer. I even tried a coffee shop and still can't get on. using the same links that used to work. won't even PING.

ftp://ftp.whtech.com been down a few days. Anyone know anything. He hasn't thrown in the towel has he?

There are some uses for having an emulator on an Android device. I run PC99 in DOSbox on my Android tablet. It runs at full speed and in the portrait mode where it's ok to type on. It's good for a quick idea to test or play some non-joystick games (such as Adventure which it does real good). On the other hand, I tried it on my phone and other than the wow-that's-neat-you-can-run-a-TI-99-on-your-phone it mostly useless as it's too small.

Joystick horror story (with a happy ending)
hloberg replied to dphirschler's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Back in the day, when I was working my way through college a projectionist at a theater, we used this thin silver mylar tape on the edge of the film for lens changes. When my TI joystick quit working I re-taped the contacts with this tape. It fit perfectly and worked great. It looked like this. -
I'll be durn.

You mean you have a copy of Warzone I & II booklets? If so could you scan them (that is if it won't damage the books).

Thanks. Now match them up to docs, except Warzone. I'm beginning to think no docs were ever made for Warzone 1 & 2.
-
Doa! Just looked at that site, can't believe i missed it, thanks

Actually, a good scan of the front cover might be enough as I was able to get the documentation, that is, if the book isn't too different from what I created. what I do still need is: program copy of Comprodine's Backstein, warzone I & II and any others that someone has. also docs for Titanium, Astro Fighter, Water Works, Protector and Topper. Also, if anyone has some other really obscure scanned manual and program I would like that too. When I'm done I'll post the game manuals I have (that aren't from the CYC) in one big zip.

speaking of Bachsteine, anyone got a copy?

Take one TI-99/4a. add a f18a card, a NanoPEB + HDX or PEB with HDX. throw in a XB 2.7 suite cartridge, RXB (when comes out?) or a XB + E/A + (pick your disk manager) on a Navarone cartridge switcher. Over clock with a new crystal and bingo! you now have as much if not more power than the 99/8. And if you want to get really wild mount the whole thing in a PC case with a wired keyboard. -
My thought too. When I looked at it I thought, 'hey, they ripped off Alien.'

The 'Cyc' has a B/W picture of the new cover that came from a TI Ad kit and a small, poor quality, color picture that came from a brochure TI put out. My guess is that it was never published. Please be advised that since it's from the 'Cyc' it is copyrighted material.....etc....etc....

Bet they both go for big bucks
