  1. The board works as it is now. But the designers want to refine it a little, so we'll have to wait just a little while longer. :( I'm lucky to be one of the testers, as I can create images for it. Creating a real cartridge is REALLY complicated, and I've only just today learned how to program the Grom chip. I know it's hard to wait for this, but be patient, it'll be worth it. :)

Well, making my own carts is a long term goal, very long.

I'll eventually get there after I learn a bunch other things TI99 such as gpl etc...

Ok, Let me know. I'll be happy to create the necessary files for you. Meanwhile, I was able to create a real TI cartridge with the 'no menu/menu' version I created, and it worked flawlessly, pretty cool. :)

    Gazoo

How. I want to learn how to create real cartridges and gonna sell any?

And, if you would, go ahead and create the necessary files and I'll see if I can find that header info for PC99.

  3.

Thanks, I sort of like it too. :) Does PC99 support multiple cartridges loaded at once? I used a trick here to suppress Review Module Library by putting the same Groms on the first two pages and the different Groms on the third page. A real cartridge won't need to do that since the first two pages can be mapped to the same memory area, thereby saving 40k of Grom space. I think all you have to do to make it PC99 format is split up the Grom files into separate Groms and name them properly, easily done with a Hex editor. Do you know the format of the PC99 module files? I haven't used PC99 for about 20 years, so I don't remember offhand.

PC99 does support multiple cartridges. I'll look into doing your idea. As for the header. I have that information somewhere, just got to find it.

  4. Ksarul had a wonderful idea when he suggested having a menu option to choose RXB with or without a menu.

It's not as if there isn't plenty of room to do something like this, and I liked his idea, so I ran with it. Thanks Ksarul!

This should keep everyone happy, those that want the menu and those that don't. The best of both worlds!

Dude, a thing of absolute beauty. You just moved RXB from my 2nd favorite XB to #1. Now all I have to do is figure out how to convert it to PC99 via Rich's instructions a few post up.

  5. The ez way is use the GPL Assembler and GPL*Loader from Ryte Data with my RXB Source code.

The ROMs for RXB are the same ones as GK XB just change

<0518> * GK XB ROMs are same for RXB
<0519> * Code for new commands DEL, COPY, and MOVE
    <0520> *
    <0521> * NOTICE !!!!!
<0522> * RAM BANK 2 CHANGED AS FOLLOWS-----
    <0523> * 7D1B changed from >08 to >0B
    <0524> * 7D35 changed from >08 to >0C
    <0525> *
    <0526>

I even made a video on how to build RXB from scratch.

    thanks! will get on it.

  6. Huh? The term 'Solid State' was popularized in the 50's and 60's to describe the difference between components such as diodes, resistors, transistors and vacuum tubes. TI did nothing more than romanticize and integrate the term into their marketing - hence the pretension.

I made reference to the term a while ago and joked that vacuum tube filled cartridges would never fit in the cartridge slot, but I don't think anyone "got" it.

This thread validates the humor that was lost.

I wonder how big a Parsec cartridge would be made of vacuum tubes?

Come on kids lets roll out the Parsec cartridge, careful the cart doesn't roll over your toes. Johnnie, be sure that 210v socket is plugged in nice and tight. Sue, crank up the A/C, it got a bit toasty in her last week when you tried to break level 30.

I agree, back "in the day" there were some computers out there with limited memory that had a decent and robust operating systems. One that comes to mind is the TRS-80 Model III, it even had more than one DOS to choose from like TRS-DOS, DOS PLUS, NEWDOS 80, etc. If I remember correctly, the original MS-DOS was a redesign/port of the earlier CP/M.

If something like this was made, it'll would be better, because in cartridge form you'll not have to wait for modules to load off of diskette, which will speed things up. And now with more people getting HD's, HDX's and other things it would sure make life easier. IMHO.

i wonder if funnelweb could be modified to run via a command line?

I have a theoretical question, since a shite-ton of goodies can now be packed into one 'Uber Cartridge', would it now be possible to make a port of MDOS for the lowly 4A? Could you just imagine the new world of utility that would open up!

    isn't 4DOS fairly simular?

  9. Rich, could the solution be something as simple as adding an option to the TI start Menu?

    1 TI BASIC

    2 RXB With MENU

    3 RXB Without MENU

Then everyone would be happy--and more people would play with the goodness that is RXB.

I agree. I have started liking RXB as of recent but not too fond of the start menu.

It may have been me who asked. Thank you for testing, it's a shame it doesn't work. Have you tried to check what TI99Dir gets out of a SD card that has been in the CF7+? I just wonder if it has been formatted at all.

Actually tested it with formatting in TI-Dir. that looked like it went OK. But when you tried writing to the card in TI-Dir it would error most of the time. Didn't matter what kind of SD card or if I tried it with the card in the CF adapter or not. also tried different speed SD cards and different sizes.

As for installing the card adapter in the CF7+ all I ever got was a blue screen. pity.

After several attempts today I just returned the adapter to Frys.

  11. Just FYI,

Can't find this but someone recent ask if anyone has tired using a SD to CF card adapter in a CF7+ like this:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/SDXCF-B-SDHC-SDXC-to-CF-Type-II-Adapter-Reader-for-8-16-32-64-128-GB-SD-eye-fi-/371072673524?pt=US_Memory_Card_Readers_Adapters&hash=item5665a7a6f4

Well, I tried it today and it don't work for me. got all kinds of errors and blue screen using the adapter with the CF7+. tried various SD cards to be sure and none worked.

That sounds good, but bulk selling is soooooo much less hassle. Trust me.

actually the comment was a bit self serving. there are bits a pieces I would like but not the whole thing.

Like I have always been fascinated with the C128 ever since I sold them while working at Sears in college. Never owned one but maybe one day....
