I haven't played it yet, but watched Austin stream a full playthrough of CV1 without any issues of note. It sounded just fine to my ears, although he wondered if there perhaps was a very slight pop or something to that effect every once in a while. But ultimately if it's slightly off sounding, it isn't going to be because of the revision used. I suspect 99% of the people that played the release version back in the day were unaware there were even problems, just as will be the case today. The issues were very minor such as a small chance at the end of the game of the game crashing when a lot of sprites are on the screen and a single sound effect a few stages in that starts a few frames too soon. Not the type of stuff that is a big deal, although it's never fun to have a game crash on you near the end. It's somewhat bizarre, but ultimately all but a non-issue that the release version was used. Knowing the lousy archival practices of these big Japanese publishers, I wonder if M2 perhaps was provided with source code that just happened to represent the release state of the game, rather than hacking a rom to eliminate the licensed by Nintendo notice on the title screen. Otherwise, I cannot fathom why a company that's renown for their attention to detail wouldn't use the latest revision with know fixes, however minor they may be. That's simply not M2's style.

Assuming it wasn't as simple as Konami just not wanting to anger PS4 customers a few months after the Rondo/SotN double pack was released, didn't I read that Sony had some sort of involvement with that earlier release on the PS4? Perhaps that tied their hands here with this collection. Edit: Konami said "Fans of the game will relive the timeless classics like never before thanks to Konami’s partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios to create these high-quality ports". Either way, if these sell well, hopefully Sony finds a way to get Rondo out on the Switch and XB1 (And SotN on the Switch).

I've never played it, but have heard a lot of good things lately about Gauntlet IV that Tengen published on the Genesis. M2 actually developed it, so maybe it's on their radar along with 1 or 2 others. Were a few misses in the Tengen library on the Genesis, but overall they were one of my favorite 3rd party publishers on the platform.

I don't see what you're seeing, I think. Reading "Yes, both the Genesis and Saturn USB controllers will work with the Genesis Mini" to me clearly says that it's compatible. Are you talking about something else that they said, other than the announcement that Defender 2600 posted?

Konami is going to be patching the arcade collection to include the ability to play the Japanese versions on all platforms, a TATE mode for the Switch version, and the ability to view the Japanese scans in the extras. Castlevania and Contra will include the ability to play the Japanese versions as well as both region's bonus content (And I would hope TATE mode on the Switch for arcade Contra and Super Contra is offered, although it hasn't yet been said that it will be). The now available Castlevania collection however will still require a patch that isn't yet available to open up these features, since the feedback from customers apparently came too late to include these options on day 1. Still waiting to learn what the second half of the Contra collection will feature.

The problem seems rather obvious to me, albeit not a serious one.

10 more games have been announced, as well as confirmation that Retro-Bit's officially licensed USB Genesis controllers are compatible (Including an upcoming 6 button model without shoulder buttons, as well as their Saturn pads). An aftermarket Retro-Bit controller is obviously going to be all but necessary for one of these games. Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle Beyond Oasis Ghouls 'N Ghosts Golden Axe Mega Man: The Wily Wars Phantasy Star IV Sonic Spinball Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition Vectorman Wonder Boy in Monster World The last 10 will be announced on June 4th. Pretty solid lineup so far of Japanese 3rd party releases and I'm happy to see Capcom now on board. Toss in Mercs, Outrun 2019 (A realistic possibility with it already confirmed for Asia), Outrun (Probably not likely), a couple of good 3rd party vertical shooters, 2 or 3 big Electronic Arts games like Desert Strike, and some remaining highlights of the 1st party library like Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and it would be tough lineup to beat. I fear the western publishers will be ignored though, which will be a disappointment for North American and European gamers. Some sentimental favorites of mine that stand absolutely no chance of inclusion would be the amazing Roadblasters port that the Genesis received and Domark's Formula One.

I'd love a consolized system with just the Pro Controller. Hopefully if this rumor pans out and is a success despite it being a Switch that can't actually be switched, Nintendo will consider another take on the concept.

They've said quite sometime ago that the DAC was finished, the parts ordered, and the components now on hand. They just haven't had the capacity yet to assemble and package them. So I doubt Kevtris is working on it at this point, unless I suppose they're trying to come up with a 32X solution.

Sega Ages Switch: M2's Sega 3D Classics line coming to the Switch.
Atariboy replied to Atariboy's topic in Nintendo Switch
Sounds like Japanese sales have been disappointing so far, but the Western markets are selling better than anticipated. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/05/sega_ages_line_struggling_to_appeal_in_japan_interest_overseas_better_than_expected Hopefully overall, this is considered at least a minor asset to Sega's bottom line. I suspect the biggest thing it needs in Japan is more titles like Virtua Racing. A good number of the releases to date have been rehashes of games that M2 already ported to the 3DS, not to mention the scores of releases that games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Phantasy Star have received over the past 20 years. Fresh content that people didn't just buy an excellent port of a few short years earlier should reinvigorate this market, I would hope. -
Other than just disconnecting from Xbox Live, does anyone know how to make this not attempt to connect to the now non-existent servers? I reloaded it tonight from a fresh install on another Xbox 360, hoping it would work. It does, which pleased me since I had read posts that suggested it was completely non-functional now. But the problem is that there's a two minute or so wait at the title screen before it finally gives up trying to connect (Which may be why some think it no longer works).

Been trying to figure this out tonight. Hooked up a little used 500 gig 360 that I bought new three years ago or so and have been slowly redownloading games. But it seems like every delisted game in the game library screen just has a generic image. It's also doing it for all my Xbox Originals, even those still available for purchase. Here's an image pulled from Google Images that shows the placeholders I'm seeing instead of game specific art (Although in my case, XBLA games that remain available to purchase like 1942 Joint Strike, do display correctly). Anyone aware of a solution? Not a big deal as long as they work, but it's unsightly and annoys me.

It arrived today and I just put my gamepad inside of it. Seems well built and does everything I wanted. The only flaws are with the optional Wii U glove. There's no cut outs for the bottom charging receptacle used with the charging dock (But there's a cut out in-between those for the never utilized expansion port, lol). Not too big of a deal for me since like you know, I also have cats. I've never thought of a good spot to put the charging dock that felt cat-safe enough to just leave it sitting on it, so I've always just plugged the cord in and charged it that way. And it slightly interferes with the L and R shoulder buttons by making them almost feel like they're recessed. So not sure I'll keep it on, but we'll see after I've played some games with it. At least it hides one of the screw holes on the rear that I'd notice every time I used it (The screw hole cover fell off at some point a few months ago and I've never found it to reattach it).

I thought he was talking about 3D capable HDTV's?

I wanted something to store my gamepad in to protect it when I don't have it hooked up, that would let me put it inside a small plastic bin I bought with latches that's just big enough for the Wii U and its primary accessories. I was afraid of screen scratches and the like, but this looks like it will protect it nicely. Pink isn't my first choice of color, but it's long out of production and $10 is hard to beat. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/powera-gamer-essentials-kit-for-nintendo-wii-u-pink/7650166.p?skuId=7650166&ref=17&loc=11&CampaignID=981998&SubscriberID=504644503

Axiom Verge Wii U Multiverse no US release?
Atariboy replied to -^CrossBow^-'s topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
Limited Run Games have several times suggested the door was still open in regards to additional Wii U releases, so further surprises from them are still possible. My copy arrived pretty quickly. Shipping took about a week and I've had it now for almost a month. -
PSP Battery Suggestions? Sony Model PSP-S110
Atariboy replied to Razzie.P's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I tested it with a 1000 and it worked a while back with just the charger. -
Edit: A change in search terms found what I wanted shortly after posting this, so please strike this.

Sega Ages Switch: M2's Sega 3D Classics line coming to the Switch.
Atariboy replied to Atariboy's topic in Nintendo Switch
Sad to hear the news that Sega plans to cut back on digital releases. With work like what we've seen with Virtua Racing, I'm crossing my fingers that the Sega Ages initiative isn't an area that they plan to pull back from. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEbmTfSxt9Q -
Looks like the non-Japanese release in Asia will include Outrun 2019. http://asia.sega.com/mdmini/cht/titlelist.html Hopefully that joins our lineup when the remaining 20 games are announced. Has never seemed right that the Outrun franchise is absent on Genesis compilations.

Sega Ages Switch: M2's Sega 3D Classics line coming to the Switch.
Atariboy replied to Atariboy's topic in Nintendo Switch
Correcting my earlier post, I just fired up the Genesis game and realized there's no extra courses. Looks like it's just 32X/Saturn/PS2 that got those, with a total of 12 console specific tracks across the three. -
Sega Ages Switch: M2's Sega 3D Classics line coming to the Switch.
Atariboy replied to Atariboy's topic in Nintendo Switch
Sounds like none of the console specific tracks from the Genesis/32X/Saturn (Did PS2 get any of its own?) are recreated in Virtua Racing for the Switch. For any other developer, it would've been absolutely foolhardy to ever think there was a chance. But with M2, I thought it was at least a 50/50 proposition that some highlights at the very least would be recreated here. It sounds like an exceptional conversion though, which is really what matters. They've even gotten rid of the severe pop-up that Virtua Racing was plagued with, which will be welcomed by 99.9% of those that play this (There will always be an oddball or two; I saw someone whine several times at Nintendo Life that M2 had an optional 60 fps mode in Outrun, since it wasn't staying faithful to the source material). -
I always thought they were just GB to N64 ports that would be unlocked with the Transfer Pack, since that would've seemed easier to me than coding an emulator. But the YouTube channel My Life in Gaming says it's an emulator and that people are experimenting with varying degrees of success with loading other games. https://youtu.be/BjtD1mOZlPc?t=27m18s Maybe something will happen to unlock this fully.
