Sorry if this is an old question...
Atariboy replied to jetset's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Whats the thing to the right of the NES and what looks to be the C64 plug n play? Nice setup too, I'd love to have that. Edit-Nevermind, just noticed your system list. Turbo Duo? -
Whats wrong with MAT2? I enjoyed it, still fire it up to play Timber (Did Timber's music always get messed up when the bird leaves a tree, or is that a emulation issue on the Xbox version?) and Total Carnage. They all seem pretty faithful to the originals except for Wizard of Wor and Hard Drivin’ (Though I still enjoyed Hard Drivin’), but many of them are no fun due to lack of the original arcade controls (Championship Sprint and A.P.B. come to mind). Some of the games always sucked such as Primal Rage, NARC, and Pit Fighter, or were dull sequels such as Gauntlet 2, so MAT2 can't be blamed there.

FB2 in wide release tomorrow (?)
Atariboy replied to Room 34's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Not sure which of the three crossing you're talking about, but I've seen FB2's at the Cornwall Wal-Mart I'm pretty sure. -
Did you use it before posting that? Found about 4 pages of topics relating to "Atari 3200" when I did a search just now, but the ones I checked had no relevent information (Except this one), and none of the topics appeared to be related to the search. Perhaps if I had checked 4 pages of different threads over the span of a few hours, something actually about it would've appeared.

Agree with you completely, I must've missed that comment it appears. Songbird's prices are more than fair, I'd buy a game from him again in a second if I could afford to. Skyhammer has turned into one of my favorites, so I doubt I could go wrong with Total Carnage or Protector SE.

"Actually I'm surprised about the reaction on TC... Jag fans have been really awaiting this title for many years. Well, at least most reactions were positive. I guess you never can except entirely positive reactions on a public forum. Some people just don't know what efforts it takes or can't appreciate them." Seems like every post I've read here has been positive regarding the manual/cart art, the box, impressed by the effort it took to finish the game, etc. Someone asked why the price was higher then Skyhammer and other releases, but I don't see how that's criticism (Though didn't Skyhammer, Soccer Kid, and the other Songbird cart releases launch at the same price as this?). Some people just don't like Total Carnage or want a arcade perfect port. Don't think there's anything wrong with that or not showing appreciation for the work put into this. I'd like it, but I can't justify it at the moment due to the cost and the fact that I already have it on MAT2 (I'd order Protector SE before this one, wish I had the money).

"There was an EA jet fighter game with surprisingly smooth polygon graphics back then, too. " F-22 There's also a helicopter game by EA I believe that was done similarly to F-22, but I never picked it up.

"As for the prgramable $10 Infro-Atari, Simple answer to that one, It's never EVER gonna happen."

Which volume would have interviews from Carol Shaw? River Raid's my favorite game of all time, if it's volume 1 I'd like to buy that VHS tape from Hozer.

Also in addition to the above, I've noticed with the two I've got stuck with that the front labels aren't placed very accurately and were slightly crooked, unlike with my legitimate GBA games.

Flatout... and other racing games (PC)
Atariboy replied to Blackjack's topic in Modern Console Discussion
"I'd really like to find good GTP, F1, and Street Bike racing games (not too realistic" There's several good F1 games, but they're all very much simulations, though you can tone things down in the menues (Especially for EA's F1 stuff like F1 2002 and F1 Challenge). F1 Challenge 99'-02' comes to mind as the best modern F1 sim(I think there's a nice Group C mod for this), and Grand Prix Legends for historic F1. There's a really nice GTP mod for NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, but I'm afraid that game cost a good bit to buy these days and its a simulation and not easy. -

TVGame style units don't work with TV tuner cards?

I think thats the nature of those cards isn't it? Its just not noticiable unless its a videogame. -

Are the sounds in Maze Craze correct? -
What's that dumb cartoon in the extra content section (Hope I'm not getting Capcom Classics Collection and this game mixed up)? And the bonus material sucks for this game, at least one of the games I viewed only had the statistics written down (Release date, original hardware, etc.) and not even any flyers or anything. I really hoped with such a small collection of fairly modern games, that an attempt would've been made to do some interviews with the people that developed these games. If that job was ever going to be easy, this would've been the game (Though more people worked on these than say stuff like Defender, so maybe that would've made it more difficult). And there's no mention that Hydro Thunder and Rush 2049 are Dreamcast ports in their information page in their respective bonus sections, I would've thought that it would've deserved a note, but they acted like these are the original arcade games under emulation. At least they play fine, my DC Hydro Thunder wouldn't ever load beyond the title screen and intros, and I never had Rush 2049, so I don't feel too ripped off.
-
I don't like it so far. At least Hydro Thunder is good.
-
I don't own any versions of these games besides Commando on the 7800 (And the 2600 version on my CC2 and Activision Anthology). So I'm happy with the lineup.
-
Same here, my last 30 or so games (Includes a lot of cheap used N64 games) have been played on average twice each...
-
Anyone pick this up yet? I'm enjoying it so far.
-
Hydro Thunder and Rush 2049 are ports of the Dreamcast games. "I still play a lot of Hard Drivin' and STUN Runner at the Funspot arcade in NH, so I would like to consider myself to be somewhat knowledgable of these titles. Hard Drivin' and STUN Runner in MAT #3 play significantly faster than they did in the arcade. The analog controls for steering are entirely too sensitive. I consider both of these titles to be absolutely unplayable." You mean Race Drivin'? If its as good as the Xbox version of Hard Drivin' in MAT2, I'll be happy. Rush Alcatraz Edition looks pretty bad from what I've seen and heard. How's Super Off-Road? I won't be able to pick this up until this afternoon. Definately sounds like a letdown, but its worth 20 bucks I'd say if even half the games are decent and I enjoy them.

" In a way it is like you say: if your only console is a Nintendo console you are pretty much stuck to their products mostly." How so? I own 14 Game Cube games, and only 7 were Nintendo titles. And I could easily add another 7 or 8 3rd party games that I liked on the GC but bought for the PS2 or Xbox since I prefer their controllers.

QVC shipped out my ver.B FB2 yesterday!
Atariboy replied to ATARIeric's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I didn't realize it was still actively being sold, General Mills must be paying a pretty good price then for the promotion they're doing in Canada. I got two copies of it last week in boxes of Cheerios in a Wal-Mart in Cornwall. -
I understand you thinking the N64's joysticks aren't the most durable, but how are the carts fragile like you're saying?

QVC shipped out my ver.B FB2 yesterday!
Atariboy replied to ATARIeric's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I'm surprised they didn't include the Atari 80 Classic Games In One cd-rom instead of one that has very little content in it. Guess you can't complain if its free. -
Only Star Fox and Vortex used the FX chip. Several games used it's successor, the FX2 chip. These include Stunt Race FX, Dirt Trax FX, Yoshi's Island, Doom, and I believe the unreleased Star Fox 2.
