I'd definately buy a copy as well if it were rereleased on DVD.

Just one SP, one of the new backlit models. I do have a DS that plays GBA games and the GB Player for the Game Cube, though they don't count.
-
Darn That's a long time to wait when I'm so curious.
-
I thought Infogrames renamed themselves Atari and that what was Infogames is now Atari?

Whichever controller you prefer is how I'd decide if I were you, which is why I went with the Xbox version myself. -
New backlit GBA SP is out, while GBA Micro is MIA
Atariboy replied to Flojomojo's topic in Modern Console Discussion
"Personally, I'm waiting for the GBA Micro, which was supposed to be available on Monday but has slipped into late this week/early next week. It too has a bright screen, costs $100, and his quite a bit smaller. " SP is about as small as I can picture a handheld being and still be comfortable. It's tiny, is 20 dollars cheaper, now has as good of a screen as the Micro and DS, and is 20 bucks cheaper than the Micro. And it can play GC and GBC games unlike the Micro. What's the attraction of the Micro? And I think the Onyx colored ones are old SP's, I think these new ones are Pearl and Graphite only. -
Pro Joysticks vs. CX-40 Joysticks

"I would like to score a couple of those 7800 'nes' style pads. Someday..." They're junk in my opinion, you're better off with the Prolines. -
Flashback 1.0 rom

Midway owns Klax. Atari/Infogrames own the code for the 2600 game and nothing else to my understanding. -
Flashback 1.0 rom
Atariboy replied to BonesCollector's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Nobody's going to post it even if they have it. I'm sure they took security measures to prevent someone from dumping it, and the people involved definately wouldn't risk violating NDA's and involvement in future projects by posting it. Plus its not some 25 year old game that hasn't earned money for its owners in decades, its a commercial product still available on store shelfs for a reasonable price. One thing I am curious of though is if it could be extracted from the Flashback and burned on to a cart, would it work on a standard NES without any futher modifications? Sounds like it should. -
Atari Flashback 2 Kiosk Delivered to Atari
Atariboy replied to Curt Vendel's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
No, I bought it because I'm 22 and never had the opportunity to buy an Atari system brand new in a store before, plus I needed new joysticks and these were getting great reviews. Who here is really buying this so they can play Outlaw and River Raid? I can do that on the original systems just fine. I basically was only interested in playing Asteroids Deluxe, Adventure II, Return to Haunted House, and Caverns of Mars. And of those only Adventure II really appeals to me a lot after playing them all. At the very least I got two new joysticks and got to try out some new Atari games on a new Atari 2600 console that I was able to buy myself in a store. You'd be surprised how cool that would be for someone that grew up with the 2600 and checking stuff like the classified ads for used 2600 games and hoping your parents would let you pick them up. My family wasn't that rich, I can only remember getting one game brand new back in the 80's and early 90's before 2600 stuff suddenly disappeared from stores like Hills. And there were several times I was left without the system due to power supplys breaking, joysticks wearing out, etc., and being told by your parents that they don't make this stuff anymore. So I don't see what's so wrong in supporting this now to hopefully get better things in the future. I'd love to be able to get new 2600 compatible paddle controllers, and something that uses Atari's 8 bit game lineup much like the C64 stick that came out last year using a actual C64 on a chip (Especially Atari's computer stuff, since I'm only familiar with their 5200 lineup). Or another 2600 console that can play games stored on something like a SD card that plugs into the system, etc. Sorry if the enjoyment I got from actually playing the games was secondary, but I've been able to play most of the games included for years on real 2600 hardware already. Plus I don't see what's so strange with what I've said when many of you here are obsessed with collecting sealed games, spending hundreds of dollars on prototype games that are barely changed from their released counterparts and could die at any moment, etc. In my case I wanted to be able to walk into a store and buy a brand new Atari 2600. -
"I just got it and I'm a bit disappointed in it. Some games are very much worth it, others are not. No extra features or histories either. Still its oK, I also question the price tag. $40 is waayy too much." Where'd you buy it? The MSRP is 30 dollars and all the major retailers I've seen are selling it for that price.

Atari Flashback 2 Kiosk Delivered to Atari
Atariboy replied to Curt Vendel's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
"Atariboy defends the unit while listing the various problems he's had with it? " Because they're minor problems. I didn't buy this to play Quadrun which was junk two decades ago to begin with, and I never expected them to pull off a decent Space Duel to begin with so I wasn't disappointed. I'd say if I enjoyed 35 of the 40 games on it, I got my money's worth. And to go further, I didn't really buy it for the games. Other than the the new games, I can play everything else on real hardware. I paid the 30 dollars to buy a new Atari 2600 using real hardware with two new joysticks in 2005, and show my support for Atari to keep things going, any enjoyment I got was extra. If I buy a Ferrari and overall I love it but the coffee cup holder has a scratch on it from the factory, I'm supposed to bash it? About as major of a problem as the FB2 has here You're all nitpicking, you remind me of someone at a model railroad forum that will attack someone's hard work since their model of a 60 year old boxcar has 1 too many rivets on it. -
I picked it up today as well, not bad. I'd of preferred more games and background information on whats here, but not bad. Not sure its worth 30 dollars though.
-
100-125 or so for a spare I don't regret buying it full price, but I couldn't justify much more than that for a second copy.

"I don't post much and expressing an opinion is hardly trolling" Sure looks to me like you are. It's no one's fault that your television can't run games very well. There's no rolling issue on mine besides with some of the homebrew games, and they don't even roll, though you get the feeling it could at any moment in Asteroids Deluxe. And Yar's Return has some issues with me seeing double on some of the images. And the only one of those games I'd call a disaster is Space Duel. The games from the 80's run like they always did for me on it, though there's a few graphic issues with Missile Command that I've noticed which doesn't detract from the game at all, and the missing voice from Quadrun which was never great anyways. It's cool the first time you hear it but then its just a dumb novelty. I'd say you're pretty much alone on this. It's a shame there's some issues with a couple of the homebrew games and the hardware isn't perfect yet (Which is basically only an issue if you hack in a cart port), but overall I'd rate it very highly. Looking forward to anything else that they do next. -
I feel like a idiot asking this since no one else has posted about it, and I've read the instructions, but I just can't add any games on to the CC2 file I downloaded from here with games already on it. I got most everything from the 80's already, but there's some missing prototypes, homebrews, and hacks I want to play. Could someone write down a quick list of exactly what to do to add a game for idiots like myself that can't figure it out?

I'm model number SCPH70011 on mine, but it was bought in Canada (if that makes a difference). I'm safe though right?

They sound fine to me so far (Xbox version). However, anyone notice the ingame sounds being a lot quieter than the 80's menu music? Fooling with my volume controls everytime I start the game up. Also, do the other versions have long load times to exit a game back to the menu? Games load almost instantly (Maybe 2 seconds at the most), but that exit back to the main menu sure is slow. -

Here's the word directly from Digital Eclipse (I was really curious rather or not I was right ). "We usually have someone from one of our communications groups respond to these kind of inquiries, but I felt the need to personally respond – I LOVE these kind of debates. You are the winner of the argument! They are indeed emulated using the original arcade ROMs for authenticity. Hope this helps!" -

I believe this version contains emulated games, these aren't ports I don't think unlike previous Namco efforts.
