Flashback 2 Website - Cartridge Mod Hack
Atariboy replied to Curt Vendel's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
They don't want to deal with customers when they go to plug in 25 year old carts and want to know why they don't work, that's why. -
Namco Museum 50th Anniversary Arcade Collection
Atariboy replied to SwedenLynxer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Is Digital Eclipse doing this for the consoles too? If so it might be worth a purchase. -
I've reached something in the 800,000 range once. One of the few 2600 games I'm atually good at (Helps when it's my favorite game on the system). I'm curious what happens at 1,000,000 too. Does it end?

Majesco goes bankrupt (Nanostray/Psychonauts)
Atariboy replied to kevin242's topic in Modern Console Discussion
They should've kept doing what they did when they started a few years ago, licensing hardware and games to rerelease them late in a console's life. Instead, they moved on to publishing dull new junk that never sold. -
Well, I got the bundle for 150 that included Mario 64. So it will have to be returned too.
-
Would Wal-Mart take it back so I could just get a new one right in the store? I think I'll go that route first. Bought it there since my local EB annoys me with their dumb employees and I still have the receipt of course. Thanks for the advice. Glad I'm only 8 stars in for Super Mario 64 DS, barely losing anything.

"Get the Naki (IIRC) to play the games with. Kind of like a SNES styled controller for GC with no analog stick." I think you mean the Hori digital controller?
-
I own all three, but I recently got a PS2 last December for the first time because I was hoping for a small redesigned model and was holding out. Loved the PSOne's design and it appears to be more reliable, so I was waiting for the PS2 to see a similar redesign after hearing about stuff like DRE's for so long online. "If you bought a gamecube at launch that means your version is the one with the digital video out for HDTV goodnes. Have you tought getting a cable for it? You know, that version of the GC will probably be worth a lot more on ebay than the later revision ones." No h key? The change to the GC was only made roughly a year ago or so. The majority in fact do have the port for component video. Don't see it being rare for many decades.

Are dead pixels common? Fired mine up for the first time last night and have one in the upper screen. Should I return it?
-
Its horrible, I almost bought it for the b&w Sprint arcade game that was included, but it was done very poorly.

Any update on the Flashback 2.0?
Atariboy replied to Zonie's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Have there been any Lunar Lander screenshots? -
Anyone know where I could get a O2 in good shape with the necessary cables and controllers? And where can the multicart be bought? I used to have it bookmarked, but lost the link. This thread has me wanting one now.

Well, I was the one that brought up converted NES pads for use on it, not him. So I assumed you had directed that toward me. Edit-Nevermind, I read too much into what to you said first, I see what you meant now. Good suggestion I'd say, I've used my Genesis pads in my 2600 quite frequently and they work great. Easiest and cheapest way to do it for sure.

What about 2 button 7800 games like Pole Position?
-
Its on Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for all three current generation consoles as well. I imagine that's the most faithful version to the arcade game, though I wouldn't know.
-
I'm not sure, but they're the only new 1st party ones I've been able to find just in case I could find someone to convert a couple of them.
-
They don't seem to be that high of quality in my opinion, or mine is just worn out. Can't play stuff like Ms. Pac-Man with it since you don't know if you press a direction if she will go that direction or keep going into a ghost for example, just not very accurate for me. I'd like to get a couple NES pads (The dogbone ones for the toploader) converted for the 2600 and 7800, but not aware of anyone that does it.

Why isn't GTA: SA for Xbox better?
Atariboy replied to Random Terrain's topic in Modern Console Discussion
IGN said it was better, so I don't know. Looks ok to me though, but I've only seen the PS2 version 2 minutes so I can't really say. And IGN claims draw distance was increased. -
Why isn't GTA: SA for Xbox better?
Atariboy replied to Random Terrain's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I don't know where you dreamed that up, but it was improved, just not as dramatically as the Xbox ports of the previous two. It was not downgraded (You're judging from compressed videos posted on two different websites I take it?). -
PS2 F1/Indycar Recommendations?
Atariboy replied to Tickled_Pink's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Haven't tried the last two, but I heard they were junk (But this was from simulation fans, they might be good games for casual players that want to just pick up a NASCAR game and race). NASCAR Thunder 2003 was the last one I wasted my money on. Burnout 3 might be a great racer, but I think he's more in the market for a game based off a real racing series that isn't pure arcade action, based off his initial post. -
Your question was fine, I understood what you meant without clarification, but some people are always waiting to jump on every little thing. It's a legitimate question, seeing how there's all these TV games things using Genesis hardware. Would be much easier and cheaper to put the Genesis versions on it using the Genesis hardware than attempt to port the arcade ones fresh with hardware capable of doing it.

PS2 F1/Indycar Recommendations?
Atariboy replied to Tickled_Pink's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Afraid there isn't anything of the quality of the Grand Prix series, or Papyrus PC games like their NASCAR/IndyCar/F1 sims, especially if you have a nice PC steering wheel/pedal setup to use them on. There are some decent ones if you're not too critical of them. Grand Prix Challenge (Basically a console port of Grand Prix 4), Formula One 2001 (A Sony F1 game, and there's several sequels, but they never saw US releases), and several ports of EA F1 PC titles. There's also a IndyCar series game, but be prepared for terrible AI. And ignore EA's NASCAR junk, they're very poorly done. NASCAR Dirt to Daytona and NASCAR Heat 2002 by Infogrames are tolerable though. There's also GT3 and GT4, just be prepared for small fields, terrible AI, and poor contact physics, and for something that isn't nearly a simulation like all the hype and fanboys say it is. But they're both quality racers, as is Konami's GT clone Enthusia Professional Racing. There's also several nice ports of great Dreamcast racers, Ferrari F355 Challenge and Le Mans 24 Hours. There's also several other Colin McRae games, which are excellent on the Xbox (But I see no reviews at IGN for the PS2 ports, making me think MS has a exclusive for them now in the US, but they were made at least for other countrys), there's also WRC: World Rally Championship, and several sequels (Though the sequels never saw US releases, you'd have to import them. There's also Rally Championship which was fun, but only saw a US Game Cube release so you'd have to import that one too if you wanted the PS2 version which made it out in places like Europe. There's also ToCA Race Driver 2 which is decent. Edit-I just saw your location, so ignore the stuff about having to import things. -
Metroid Fusion, Zelda: Minish Cap, Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Mario Kart are all great games.

"I'm just sorry I didn't know any of this was going on. I might have been able to help (in a ROM hacking kind of way), like I did on Activision Anthology. It was cool 'working' for Activision, but to do work for *Atari*.... " What did you do if its not out of line to ask? I don't remember any hacks on Activision Anthology?
