There is a neat trick I discovered in the Japanese version of Donkey Kong. It works on the barrel boards. Position Mario in such a way that has his hand just high enough on the ladder to look like it would get run over by a barrel above you. While in this position, a barrel will NEVER, EVER, roll down the ladder and kill you. It is probably one of the only true 'safe' spots in the game.
Yeah, as I understand, this happened in the first ROM version of Donkey Kong in the U.S. too. In other revisions, this trick does not work.

Hi all, I have an Atari 1200 XL that I have had for quite a while and it quit working last year. It does power on, but comes up with a blank screen. What IC chip would need to be replaced to get the machine up and running again? Where can I get one? Thanks

Really stupid question - my Atari 800 disk drive also has the boot error problem too. I want to look inside it to find out what is going on. How do you open an Atari 810? Its not like the Atari 1050 with the screws easily accessible. Thanks.

I loved this game as a kid. I took out my Atari 800 system recently and played it again 20 years later. I have the game on a floppy disk. It is a fun game, but I do recommend using the keyboard on this one vs. the joystick. Once you get the hang of it, the game is easy to complete.

Tested 3 floppy drives today, 2 work!

Agreed regarding using the real disk drives with floppies. Yeah, replace the capacitors in there since they are 30 years old and then use alcohol on the heads. Good luck! That 810 drive looks nice.
