OSS Dos XL and OSS Basic, whats it worth?
Artlover replied to Artlover's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
55 views, and several PM's by interested persons....but no replies here. Public discussion, people. Goes a long way. Maybe I should base it on ebay prices, where the basic cartridge alone goes for $67 used with no manual/binder? I'd rather not, not trying to gouge anyone. Just looking for an honest fair value. -
Cleaning out my garage and looking to start selling a lot of my collection. Problem is I don't know what any of this stuff is worth anymore. I have several copies of OSS Dos XL, still in shrink wrap. Also have 1 (maybe more?) of OSS Basic, also still in shrink wrap. So how much do you guys think these are worth?

Would You Like a Return to a Type of Cartridge?

I did it the old fashioned way.... -

Yup. To that end, emulation is the only thing I still use my original Xbox for.

Well, I have a 7800. So, one.

Backwards compatibility as in backwards compatibility. IE: Xbox 360 on Xbox One or PSX on PS2, etc... Something I have long lambasted, as I have never gotten rid of any old console. But again, I'm finding reality sometimes interferes with my ability to access them. So I guess {dry heave} BC has it's place.

Meh. Emulation. I've been dabbling with emulation since the early 90's. Generally speaking, emulation has gotten better across the board. It still doesn't quite replace the real thing. I always prefer to use the real thing. But as time goes on, and I move around, and stuff in my life changes, I find that less and less of my systems are hooked up and playable. Sooooooo, it's becoming more useful to me as time goes by. Dare I say it, I've even reluctantly come to accept that backwards compatibility may have it's place too.

Shame this seems to be dead now. It's sad when you don't follow/update something for years, then go check it out again expecting to see an update, and you still have the current version.

Nudity.

"Look around you" is great. I was glad Adult Swim showed it for a while. One of the best things I've seen on TV in a long time. I'd love to get the DVD set one of these days.

Fallout 1: lock/reset # of days for water chip?
Artlover replied to S1500's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I've got the same problem. Fallout2 is a tad better, but still f--ked up. Those games just don't like anything even remotely considered a modern computer and glitch out really bad. -
anybody else who wasn't a fan of the nes?

Oddly, I never had this problem. I too am from the old school where buttons are on the left and the stick is on the right. Most consoles were that way, so were most arcade machines. At first, I thought having joypads with them reversed would be hard to play (just like arcade machines are hard to play when they are reversed (like DK)). But honestly, I found it easy to deal with and quite natural. So when it comes to joypads, I have no problem. But I do have a problem with stick makers now a days that insist on copying the joypad's reversed layout. Sorry, I'm right handed and simply do not have the left armed/handed dexterity needed. I can press buttons/pads with my left hand well enough, but move a stick, no. <sigh> I don't think I've seen a propper normal right handed joystick in over a decade..... Anywho....NES. I dunno. I guess I could also say I never really loved the NES. I had a few games, like the Mario's and stuff. They were good and fun. Tho one thing that always got me was because of the tile style graphics, a LOT of the games all had a simmilar look & feel to them. It didn't seem like that many games broke out of that and used tiles in groups rather then individual units. Even in emulation I don't play it much beyond the big games; Mario, Zelda, Dragon's Warrior, etc.. Most of the rest just seemed...mediocre. It's funny, NES had the same problem the 2600 did; a few good games amung an ocean of crap, yet they managed to pull it off. -
But it makes porn so much easier to deal with.

Did anyone ever tell you that you tend to share very personal information to much?

It's not hard a few hours in. You'll know when it start getting hard because you'll be cussing. You think you've seen strike teams a couple hours in BWAHAHAHA You will refer to those early encounters as pussy teams before it's all over. <eek!> Yeah, I'm a bit further in it now. I can already tell the difficulty is going up a bit. The last mission I did took like 3 tries and even then I just ever so barely made it. Haven't started the next mission yet tho, just screwing around killing infected and crap for xp.

Mysterious item found at Goodwill Computerworks.....

So you can plug the pad into the computer. I just said that. A lot of people like to play that ddr emulation thing, I always forget the name. Except that PS gameports and stuff are standard DB15, not DB15HD. The only DB15HD connector on a PC is for video. Yeah, but you can get DB15HD to DB15 adaptors easily. However, why? Your making something to work with a console, and computer, why not use the simplest connection possible? or at least the commonly used connection, I can't see price being an issue, last I checked the DB15hd cost more than the standard DB15 :/ You made no sense there at all. First you said it uses that connector so it can be plugged into a computer, but then conceed that you would still need an adaptor to even beable to do that. The point being, the plug it uses is completely irrelevent to what it's designed to be used with, as it's a generic device requiring an adaptor for whatever platform it will be used with. It's that you impli-associated it as direct pc connection. Had you said 'it used that connector because it was meant to be generic' or something, we wouldn't be here now. That said. Yes, I do aggree, why not use the simplest most commonly used connection possible. Yet, DB15HD is none of these things. If one was going to go the simplest common route, DB9 would have been the way to go. No, I think the main reason they used DB15HD is so that it wouldn't be directly connectable to anything without an adaptor (maybe so people couldn't accidently plug it straight in and break their system. You know if it was DB9, someone would end up plugging it into a comport or something). DB15HD seems to be relatively cheap compared to other less common connectors like DIN. -
Funny thing is the prices on stuff for others consoles seems to be between around normal and low.

When I actually become a "fanboy", I'll be sure to take your advice.

I've been playing it. It's not bad. I've heard it compared to PS3's inFamous. Dunno if I would say it's hard. But I'm only in it a few hours. Only up to "The Web", and it's been fairly easy so far. Yeah, strike teams are annoying, but they are easy enough to kill. I think the hardest things in the game are the damn Hunters. And even they are fairly easy to kill with the claws or extendo-tenticle thingy. Big open world, you can do almost anything including walk up walls and fly. Freaking sweet. So far anyways. GFX is fairly decently. Grafitti looks nice. It seems to be a transparent overlay that is placed over wall textures. The only problem here is that it's like a few pixels infront of the wall. If you get your camera looking at it from the side and move around a bit you can see how it "sticks out" slightly. Not so much being noticeably infront of a wall, but you can see how when you move, it moves ever so slightly different then the wall behind it does. Honestly, I'm not even put off by this, as it gives it a rather different feel then most games where it's flat texture and is a nice change of pace. Not worth $60, but again, no game is worth $60 to me. (No console is worth $400+ either, but that's a anti-ps3 rant for another day. )
