And they aren't common, maybe because, they WERE two of the most overstocked games? Or maybe everyone DID despise them and dropped them like a bad habit. Sorry, but games like Pac-Man and ET represent a very specific aspect of products and marketing: NAME. People bought these games based on name alone, and Atari made millions of carts ahead of time because they expected that to be the case. Most of the sales were very early on, before word of mouth could really sweep the nation. Atari could have made a Pac-Man cartridge that didn't do anything more then show a big Pac-Man logo and it still would have sold like hotcakes till everyone figured out the hotcakes were made from poop. It was a short lived bubble. Sales stalled once "everyone" realised that they sucked. Did Atari make enough from ET to pay off the $21 million dollar licensing fee? Which by the way was like twice what the movie even cost to make. Yes, Atari made millions. That in and of it self means nothing nor does it classify the game as being a success. In context of how many were produced, no, generally speaking selling only 1/4 of your stock is not considered successfull. In context of how many people actually like it, no, generally when most people piss and moan about it to the point of sending their own copies back to them for a refund, it's not a success. These games were like fly by night quick money grabs, where a lot of people were suckered in to handing over their money early on, and once the word got out, millions of cartridges got dumped in a hole. The whole word of mouth, store demos, good games sell & bad ones dont arguments can all be dismissed with the following statement: If Pac-Man wasn't called Pac-Man, if ET wasn't called ET, they wouldn't have sold the numbers that they did. That's a fact that can be verified by the fact that there were many MANY great games that didn't sell those kinds of numbers despite being 100x better. Just the fact that most games period didn't sell those kinds of numbers. Just the two games based on one of the most popular arcade games ever and one of the most popular movies ever. Do the math. Come on, most kid's weren't spending their own money, it was their parents and relatives. You mean those store displays that were always occupied by some punk bully little bastard that wouldn't let anyone else play because it was his own personal arcade. Yeah, they were a real help.

I guess it's up to you really. Personally, if it was me, I'd pull/test/save EVERY chip. Ram included. It's stupid to throw away hard to find parts for classic hardware. Even more so in your case when you're trying to put together as many good ones as you can. Gotta remember these formerly common parts aren't so common anymore. It's easier/cheaper to pull a 6510 then it is to try and buy a new one.

Yup. He's a great guy with great skills and incredible dedication. As I said before, Al should commision a trophy!

Well, if by full, you mean 28 (including yourself). 28 people out of 1.5 million copies sold = 0.00186%.

First, who is asking how to do anything? I'm not. Already know that part. That's EASY to find out. What's NOT easy to find out is a definitive answer to the effects and outcome of doing it. Second, it's not just there. It's ALL of them. Not even xbox-scene and or maxconsole and junk actually directly "answer" those questions either. You gotta read 18 pages of tapdancing BS and make an educated assumption. To that end, I have an educated assumption as to what the answers to all my questions are. But it would still be nice if someone somewhere would just say Yes or No to actually confirm them one way or the other rather then leave them in the realm of guessing. Would you please care to explain exactly how most of what I asked could be used for anything else? Homebrew HDD does not require you to hack your console in anyway, it gives you no extra features or abailities (it actually takes some functionality away!). Doesn't facilitate piracy in any way, It simply saves you from having to pay out your ass to buy their highly overpriced unit. - For an upgradable PC in a box, I should be allowed to us my own choice of parts just as I am with my other PC's. There is no other use for it, period. Hacking gamesaves so I can cheat at gaming also doesn't require you to hack your console in anyway nor does it facilitate piracy. I'm simply cheating at the game I play, which is no one's concern if I'm doing it on an off-line profile. The only other "evil" use is doing it on an on-line profile which would give you an unfair advantage on XBL, but that's why they ban cheaters from XBL. There is no other use for it, period. Wanting to know what games come with NXE doesn't facilitate piracy. It's simply to save me from wasting time/money getting something I can't return once I open it when I discover I cant/wont use it. It don't help pirates in any way either. They already know and have tools to find out if they don't. Besides, if anything, if they hate NXE as much as I do and also refuse to upgrade, it will STOP THEM from bothering to download those games, which I thought is exactly what companies like MS wanted. There is no other use for it, period. The only thing I mentioned that could possibly be related is the rebuilt W3 games since you do need a hacked console to rip games or play patched backups. Still, my question in and of itself has nothing to do with the when/where/how/why of it. Wave3 has "nothing" to do with anti-piracy, it's all about the NXE installer, that's it. Yes, I know why the rebuilding first came to light. But it was always pointless and stupid for that purpose since the issue only effected a few certain poorly designed (overdesigned?) firmwares and all one had to do from day one was either downgrade or upgrade. Don't give a flying turd about all that BS, don't help me in the slightest. Only thing I care about is not having NXE installed on my box. If I had NXE on my box, I wouldn't be pondering the question since it would be irrelevent. Anyone pondering it for the original purpose is just a moron.

Hi! question about the Atari - Jr. Pac-Man discovered!
Artlover replied to FrauBlucha's topic in Atari 7800
Boy, you suck! Anywho, I'd imagine using an 'unlimited lives' cheat. All anyone needs to know is: 20A3 and 20A4. -
Video Game Collector FRAUD

Fair enough. Tho he should just refund people their money and call it quits then, rather then pull a Maurice Randall. -

Actually, wouldn't this be RC6 and the one you posted earlier this moring be RC5? -
Not a single thing I mentioned has anything inherently to do with "piracy". Making my own HDD rather then buying their is not piracy. Wanting to modify my off-line gamesaves to cheat at a game I'm playing off-line is not piracy. Wanting to know what games force you to upgrade your dash is not piracy. Even asking about a rebuilt game is not piracy related in as much as I am talking about one ripped from one's own legimiate copy. Not asking about piracy, now to do it or anything else. Simple yes or no question: Will it allow the game to work without NXE installed.

Just as a start..... Will using a homebrew HDD rather then an official one ever get you banned. A translation list for the cryptic file format entires. IE: Where are videos stored, which game save is which, etc.. Will hacking game saves of an OFF-line profile get you banned? A complete & upto date list of Wave 3 games, so I know what I can and can't get. If a Wave 3 game is rebuilt with a Wave 2 partition, will it play on a 360 without NXE.

I don't think I've ever found any information I was ever looking for on there. Usually, I just find arrogant people tap-dancing around and not actually answering questions, spewing off topic drivel and misinformation. Maxconsole is almost better, and they suck horribly. Mostly what annoys me about most of these other sites is now damned stupid people are. Some arrogant smug smartass teenager prick who is smart enough to figure out how to hack his 360, but is too damned stupid to understand that just because they both use a DB25 connector, a null modem is NOT a parallel device. But will argue for pages that he's right because he works at radio shack. (Murdering the stupid should be legal!)

Yeah. You nailed it with Dick York in the mix. -
Anybody completely switch to emulation and not look back?
Artlover replied to Recycled's topic in Atari 2600
Another nice thing about emulation is that with the right emulator it can make certain games on certain consoles much easier to play. For example, playing Robotron on the Xbox 5200 and 7800 emulators. Two analog sticks mapped for each controller. Heck of a lot better than those cheesy joystick holder jigsamathings. -
Yes, NXE DOES. NXE requires 128mb. All 360's except for the newer arcade units (post NXE) have only 64mb of internal memory. It was for exactly this reason before NXE was released, MS was giving away 512MB memory cards (or discounted 20gig HDD's) to owners of core and older (pre 256mb version) arcade consoles.

did that and the only Stella it offers me is the setup wizard even though Stella is installed. Eh? You have two options. One is delete. Find the .bin listing and just delete the entry entirely. Then the next time you try to open one, it will give you the dialogue box asking you what to do with it. Second is edit. Yes, it is likely that the default list of installed apps it shows you won't have the one you want to open it with, in which case you just hit the "other" button and browse to where the app is you want it to open with and select it that way. Also, oseii brings up an interesting point. You might also look at your broswers extension associations and wipeout any .bin entries there as well.

Why don't you just do what Nukey said? Control Panel - Folder Options - File Types tab - scroll through and delete/edit the offending extentions.

Well, I feel old now. I had built my own digi hardware and was making my down digi demos on the C64 & Atari back in 1990. Games like Beach-Head and Impossible Mission were doing it since 1983.

I had asteroids once. Hurt pretty bad, but the doctor gave me some cream, cleared it right up.

Hi! question about the Atari - Jr. Pac-Man discovered!
Artlover replied to FrauBlucha's topic in Atari 7800
Yes, I was. But thank you for including that in the latest version anyways! -
They triggered an efuse after almost every dash update, even before NXE.

Two dogs. Romeo and Julie.

I just downloaded Donkey Kong (both rom and xex) from the Atarimania and Fandal sites, and they both worked just fine under 800xl emulation. So the files are good.

Is $50 A Good Deal For All This Intelly Stuff?
Artlover replied to Spazmonkey's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Generally speaking, no, there isn't. Don't know if there are any exceptions to that. I don't think so. The cart's aren't physically big enough.
