  1. Do you enjoy having to jump through hoops to unlock content you have already paid for?
    No, I don't.

Or are you sick of this practice?
    Yes, I am.

    So what are your thoughts?
Mostly, I'll just echo what others had said..

If it's reasonable to achieve and the results are worth it: It's not so bad and can be fun and add play value.

If it's so damn hard that only the very best of the best can do it and it even takes them several trys: No. Not fun, ruins the game. Particulaly in the case of multi-player games where it creates an uneven play-field. Where if you don't consider it a second job and spend every waking/non-working second of your life obsessed with it, you can hang it up, and are better off just not bothering to ever play it at all.

If the results aren't worth the effort, regardless of how easy it might be: No, no fun, wastes my time and ruins the game. Unlock something, damn it. I don't want a stupid worthless picture or some other dumb crap for my effort. Unlock a hidden level, give me a new weapon, or an upgrade or something.

If I have to pay for it: No, with a capital NO, and the designers can go choke on a #$%@! Greedy, arrogant, self important %[email protected]&*@^$*. It's even a bigger F-U to players when they pull this crap on multi-player games and effectively create an uneven play-field, where spoiled brat rich boy always wins and everyone else might as well just crawl under a rock. Sadly, this is happening more and more, even on XBL.

  2. the actual contradiction might be that you call yourself artlover and ask me why i'd rather want artwork than "copy&paste"-work

    :P ;)

    Pttthh! :P

You can create your new label anyway you see fit ..draw, color, paint, paste, copy, cut, swipe, or steal. then make 20 copies of your unique vision...

We also do not allow simple cut & paste jobs with the labelmaker 2600 ... no 5 minute jobs where only a picture as been downloaded and then pasted inside the label maker. It is about creating unique labels, not doing something anyone else could do in the same 5 minutes.

Is it just me, or is this a bit of a contradiction? :ponder:
i don't think so ...what i am just trying to avoid is lots of contributions that are nothing more than a picture from google pics search, pasted in with the label maker ... this is what is happening in many other threads here and the ammount of label-"designs" posted are so many that noone would make the effort (and pay the costs) to send 40,50 or 100 labels via snail mail .... and most of them are rather spontaneious jokes than any design people have been thinking of ...

Thought it was 20, now it's up to 100? :ponder: :P

Anywho, it's just that you initialy said "anyway you see fit", and proceed to mention "paste, copy, cut, ... steal." - Copy & paste is copy&paste no matter how you look at it and stealing is even worse. But hey, if I can just steal someone else's label, that will be even easier then using the labelmaker. ;) :P

  3. Even if the system flickers or doesn't want to read your cart
Well, emulators reproduce system induced flicker, so you still have that. :)

Configuring roms to run propperly can sometimes take several guesses, much akin to having to pop in & remove the cart a few times. Blow on your fingers if you want to reproduce blowing inside a cart. :P

You can use real joysticks that are old, chalky, and impercise with most emulators. :)

Since I exclusively emulate on the Xbox, I'm playing on a real TV as well. Most emulations (on xbox anyways) have adjustments where the video size & aspect/pixel ratios are configurable so you can reproduce the exact dynamics of how real hardware outputs video. :)

If people didn't know what they were really playing on, I bet most wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Except for arcade games, that whole turning your TV on it's side thing (yea, I've done it), kind of gives it away! :lolblue:

  4. http://kotaku.com/5206908/time-warner-revi...-bandwith-usage

Time Warner Revises Plans to Charge for Interenet Bandwith Usage

    And so it begins.....

    :|

    • We will introduce a 100 GB Road Runner Turbo package for $75 per month (offering speeds of 10 MB/1 MB). Overage charges will be $1 per GB per month.
Comcast costs less and it's cap is more than double of that.

    • Overage charges will be capped at $75 per month. That means that for $150 per month customers could have virtually unlimited usage at Turbo speeds.

I can get Comcast business class service for less than that and it WOULD BE unlimited, not this "virtually" BS.

  5. I guess the max score would be to let each bonus items get all the way up to the energizer before eating it and then eat the energizer, and get all four monsters - not an easy task. :(

But this doesn't automaticly work either. Since the bonus changes the value of the dots it touches, which may or maynot be there depending on how you've been moving around. Plus, what happens when you eat an energizer then a new bonus goes hopping around. It won't die at that point, but keep going till it hits another one, effecting different dots this time along the way, right?

That's why I wonder if there really is a fixed maximum single score, as point scoring is a variable dependant on the bonuses that in and of itself are dependant on dot & energizer placement.

I suppose there might be a pattern for a so-called perfect game, but I get the feeling it would be a Pole Position type deal where perfect game doesn't equal higest score. :ponder:

  6. I wish him well in his new endeavors, though.

    What difference does it make....

EA has taken an equity stake in Mr. Wright’s new venture, the Stupid Fun Club, and will have the right to make video games based on that company’s projects.

No matter what he does, EA will be there to remove the fun and add the suckiness.

  7. Alone In The Dark - The New Nightmare - This one got a lot of bad press, but I LOVE it. Very atmospheric, and scary as all hell in certain places.

Eh? It got fairly decent press and decent scores. IGN gave it 7.4. Gamerakings gave it a 73.6%. Mostly everything else is in the same range. Maybe your thinking of AITD for the 360, which got alot of bad press and scores like 3.5/10. :P

To the OP, ya see... The Dreamcast is even better then the Xbox 360! :lolblue:

It really almost is tho. It's definatly a must have system in my book. The DC is like only behind the original Xbox in functionality. Lots of great games, lots of great emulators, even an assortment of media apps that can play mpegs and avi's and vcd's and stuff.

  8. I voted Ninja Golf on account of the following reasons:

Barnyard Blaster: Requires a light gun, so that's going to leave most of us out. :|

Choplifter: Too damned hard, so people who suck as VG's (like me) have no chance. :P

Scrapyard Dog: This is a very close 2nd to being my pick. Simple, fun. :)

Sirius: Holy @$#& is this hard if not impossible. :ponder:

  9. I'd aggree that the scotch tape variant is probably not the best most permanent one to use.

But thickness has nothing to do with the issue. It's all a matter of the quality of adhesive being used.

The roll of scotch tape you can pick up at the local discount store is hardly the same as the 3M automotive grade trim tapes from an automotive parts store. I've used thin & narrow (1/16" wide) pinstripping tape inside the car, and it's held up for years.

So to that end, I'd suggest going to DicountAuto or something and look for a roll of thin, but wide, automotive trim/pinstriping tape. It will even have a backer strip so you're not touching both sides.

  10. You can create your new label anyway you see fit ..draw, color, paint, paste, copy, cut, swipe, or steal. then make 20 copies of your unique vision...

  11. broadbandreports.com

Actually quite a few more thAn that. I just googled "Knology complaints", and had dozens of different pages. Including with the BBB.

most don't have as sharp a grasp on grammar as you do. But your impressive grammar

Thank you. I do somewhat pride myself on my abaility to write. :) Tho I quite often have problems with spelling. :ponder:

    Congratulations!

    You scored a 100%

You answered 9 of the 9 questions correctly.

(Which is odd since it said there were to be 10 questions. :? )

    See, I know, I just don't care. :P :lolblue:

  12. Which 8-bit computer included the rotating fuji boot up screen?

Rotating, like spinning around in a circle? None... though there was at least one demo of such a thing.

I remember XANTH Park did a demo for Atari, that had a rotating Fuji, along with it bouncing around (to mimic the Amiga Boing! Ball demo, which they also made a demo about on the Atari 8-bit computers).

I think there must have been several demos of that kinda thing. I remember an old 800 demo like that, but it wasn't like the Xanth park demo. It was just a black screen with a large 5200'ish rainbow fuji logo that rotated on it's center vertical axis. No idea what it was called tho.

  13. Example 2: I cannot box up my Atari, Coleco or pre NES era consoles as emulation for me doesnt cut it. Controllers are an issue. I cannot and will not use a gamepad for Atari games. Its a sin.

I personally find nothing wrong with emulation of older systems like 2600, 5200, Colecovision. I think the only emulation that suffers is the intelivision because of it's weird 16 direction controller disc. But generally speaking, they are more then close enough for me to not bother with real hardware.

Besides, didn't Atari dabble around with gamepad later, like for the 7800. I'm pretty sure if gamepads were around during the 2600 era, the 2600 would have had them, atleast as an optional accessory.

  14. From what I've been reading by miffed users of Knology, it's probably impossible for them to exceed any undefined limit because of slow speeds, high latency and high packet loss. :ponder:

Of course, it depends on where you are. Some areas are better/worse then others. Either way, of the things I've been reading the last few hours, I'm sure not impressed with them and all the more happy I am to have Comcast. I'm surprised your happy with them being in Alabama, which seems to be a huge problem area for them and where most complaints are comming from.
