Are these the regular stock genesis controllers or something else?
Controlls with with turbo, auto-fire, macros, and so on can cause odd problems sometimes.
I have a 3rd party controller for my Dreamcast with all 3 of those features, but even with them all turned off, the controller will not work with certain things (most emulators for example, the game select menus won't work correctly (if at all)). But for other things, it works fine.
Maybe something simmilar is happening here?

Damn... is there any way to tell conversions from the real thing? From what I understand, conversions technicaly are the real thing, kinda of. Just not originaly designed for the home consoles. Basicly hacked arcade cart boards. I can't say for sure tho.

-
So the Neo Geo collectors are kinda like the badasses of videogames, laying low doing underground conversions, hiding from the law, and ripping people off
I don't think it's as all bad as that. You have that element in any platform. But on a whole, the NeoGeo scene does tend to be a bit eliteist. It's cost prohibative for most people.

And people are bidding on it!
More power to him!

It's a conversion! This is still going on, huh. I thought this slowed down after those SNK lawsuits 1 & 2 years ago.

Plus, everyone already knows that XBOX1 is Microsoft's "Get into the industry at any cost" trojan horse, so making huge profit margins is NOT the current priority. They're essentially using a land-grab model to gain marketshare as well as making investments and acquisitions for XBOX2. It can be said that XBOX1 was basically Microsoft's practice run for the XBOX2, since they came into this hardware generation race behind the PS2 due to its earlier launch.Pretty much.
The scary thing is that Microsoft has that much money to "invest". They are still loosing bucket loads of money on the sale of every xbox at it's current $180 price. I imagine Bill fills his fireplace with money on cold winter nights.
If they really want to win, they should start giving Xbox's away free with the purchace of every game. Might actually make money that way, because it atleast that would insure game sales.

-
Well, if there is a $99 Xbox, I hope they streamline it to make it smaller. Shoot, I've seen drivable cars smaller than the Xbox...Ehh. It's about as small as it can get unless they switch to using cheep quality laptop gear.

I used to use Agent (which I paid for) in Windows to browse and read Usenet,Ewwwww!
I use X-News myself. I like that it easily handles allowing you to use all avaialble news connections a server allows, and allowing connecting to multipul news servers simutaniously. Agent seems to use a proccess queue that limits you to one active thing at a time (Unless I'm missing something. Using registered Forte' Agent 1.93/32.576).
I'm on Cox Cable, and they allow 4 connections per server (pretty much the standard), and have 3 servers. So thats 12 downloads at a time.

hmmmm I never mail checks etheir all my bills electric, gas, water, phone, cell phone mortgage payment and truck payment are here in town I just run my money around to em and pay the bills :-) but I do mail Money Orders out :-)Interesting. Don't you use banks for money transactions in the States, as in tranferring money from one bank account to another?
No, as bank-to-bank transfers typically cost upwards of $35 here.

Wow, that's amazing! Bank-to-bank transfers are the main thing overhere. My salary is transferred to my bank account by my employer and from that account I pay my bills. Most of the returning payments are automated; very convenient. There's no cost per transaction. I guess the bank makes enough money of your money being 'in their bank'.
Thats different. We have that here too, Direct Depost. It doesn't cost anything, and quite a few businesses require it as a term of employment. There is also virtual checks and auto-pay stuff for handing bills and junk. But thats also not really the same thing.
If you were going to try and lets say make an ebay purchase by going to your bank and requesting a direct bank-to-bank transfer from your personal account to their personal account, you're going to pay because it dumps a truck load of work and responcibilty on your bank to carry out the transaction. Every virtual transaction still has physical pieces of paper attached to them to document it in the system. This is mostly assuming that both parties in question are using different banks. I believe in-system transfers are generaly free or low-cost for many banks.

Even less people have an Adam then have a Colecovision. So while it is the better version, that doesn't help any one much.
I have *two* ADAMs, but no Donkey Kong.

BAH!!

-
Gregory, you've had people post twice already stating that's not true. The Adam version does have the "How high can you get?" as well asintermission stuff, etc. The Adam version came on a data tape and was a larger version. Are you confusing that for the cartridge version which could be played on both (and is most likely what you're loading in an emulator?)

look under HOSTED DC<.>PC server and get all that you need. It's Windows only by the way..Yeah, but this doesn't really relate to the problem of the servers themselves being down. All this does is allow you to connect a Dreamcast to the internet through your own PC. You're still completely limited to modem speeds.
This maybe true, but it's interesting to have this info regardless.
Back when I was using dial-up, I sometimes used to use my DC to browse the web. I don't know why exactly.
But I haven't used dialup for like 3 years, so my DC's been off-line.
One day, I'm going to try the DC<>PC server thingy.

Probably what I call choppy you call lack of frames. But I notice how the barrels do not roll smoothly down the girders and Mario seems to "miss" spots on the ladders and his jump isn't very smooth either. Plus the lame hammer animation isn't much better than 2600 DK. Also there is no barrel "destruct" or Mario death animation, no "How high can you get?" no Donkey Kong intro...Eh, making me have to get my CV out to check this myself......
Any who.
I didn't notice any issue with mario missing spots on the ladders. Most of everything else, yeah, but not so much in my opinion that it would be noticable unless you're a DK fanatic.
On the other hand, your other points regarding the barrel destruct, mario death and so on (kong being on the wrong freaking side). MAJOR points that make it a pretty bad port. Atleast as far as arcade comparison.
It's still fun to play regardless, IMHO.

find me a BBA (not a hundred dollar one at Ebay) and were onTell me about it!
I'd LOVE to have a BBA for my DC. But $100+ is unjustified. I wish someone could just build an interface to use a regular netcard or something with it.
I know, I know, someone has, kinda. But it only works when running an open source OS on the DC, not as a real DC-BBA. Physical hardware bit is the easy part. So
But yeah, there is a crapload of source code for the thing out there. How hard can it really be to come up with a translation program to run in that interface.

True, this situation is the fault of the buyer, but I'm sure if it was your mistake, you'd all want the buyer to be patient and understanding--its rational behavior that can yeild positive results from sour deals.Except you can't be patient and understanding with everybody. How do you filter out legimiate mistakes from the flood of trouble-makers? You have to draw a line somewhere. Unfortunatly, yes, someone who might deserve "different" treatment will get caught up in this, but such is life. . But I wont go there here now.

I prefer Wolfenstein on account that I don't own a copy of Doom.

You mean usenet is for more then binary attachments of cd images?

I've wondered about deleting news groups myself. Most are like you said, dead with alot of spam. Some groups are so dead there isn't even any spam either!
I've also always wondered what it takes to start a new group. Doesn't seem to be much on account of groups like;
alt.duck.quack
alt.duck.quack.quack
alt.duck.quack.quack.quack
aol.*
Sometimes I pop into comp.sys.cbm. That still has real people in it (last of the c64 diehards & ultranoobz) But I almost never actually post. Generaly, 24/7, I'm in some binary group.

I agree the majority here. Your auction is pretty clear, and the buyer is at fault for not bothering to READ before he bid.
Maybe it was an honest mistake, but with the history ebay has, I'd be more inclined to assume it was a deliberate "lets f--k with someone" action.
Cash the money order, send him his box, and tell him to shove it if he don't like it.
In a simmilar news story, I bought a boxed NES Contra (with game) for .87 at goodwill last year. Not exactly mint, but not crushed or stained or faded either. Only gripe is a small yellow pricegun sticker on the front & no manual.

Don't be suprised to find 4 unwrapped video tapes in your mailbox with an address label covering the movie title and & stamp on the corner.

(When working for MTV, I went over to shipping to pick up some rackmounted computer equipment that was shipped back to us for repairs. So I get back there, and find a bare unpackaged computer sitting on the floor with a FedEx label stuck on it.

Same seller with an Atari 7800. What is that weird looking track ball controller?http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3537&item=3073224569
Why are the dual button NES pads converted into a single button configuration when they are being used with a system that uses dual fire buttons?
Anywho, it's not a trackball. It's a joystick, also originaly for NES. Made by Beeshu.

the first line of the ad states: This auction is for a cd with about 500 atari 2600 games on it.,, it should read: This auction is for a cd with about 500 atari 2600 games on it all downloaded from AtariAge.com,,
Aww, give the guy some credit. Maybe he mastered Outlook and downloaded them from usenet.

"Ebay, I bought nothing from this seller, and I paid him weeks ago, but I still haven't gotten anything."
"What were you bidding on?"
"Nothing."
"And you're saying you never got it?"
"No I never got anything"
"So you bid on anything?"
"No, I bid on nothing"
"And what would you like us to do?"
It's at this momment both parties are saying to themselfs "This guy I'm dealing with is an idiot."
