  1. Ditto to the original post.

Sound and animation are excelent, but it's too easy & simple. Not to mention tedious at times. I've only been playing it a little, and am up to the lame triforce search part. I really have no doubt that I'll be able to finish this fairly easy.

    Ocarina of Time was harder.

  2. IBM Thinkpad 760XL laptop & docking station. 8 bucks. :)

    Thats a pretty sweet deal.

    Does it work?

Where did you get it.. a thrift store? If that was in any thrift store around here I am sure it would have a $150 or more price tag.

Only "laptop" I have ever found was a Toshiba T1100+ for $15.00. I still haven't got it up and running yet.

Goodwill. Yeah, it works. P166 MMX, 82megs of ram, 20x cd-rom, 12.1" svga screen, stereo sound.

But it sucks because the laptop unit itself is almost useless in the field. No Serial or Parellel ports on it. Just a single propriatory connector to plug into the docking station. The docking station gives you serial & parellel.

So basiclly, you have no really easy or convienent way to get info off the machine, particualarly in the field.

Other then that, it's a nice machine.

  3. I found the 4052 chips you mentioned.  Is there any way to tell if they are bad, or do you just have to replace them to tell?

    Quite honestly, I dunno.

I just replaced them all on mine, and it fixed the problem. Might have been only one of them. But they are cheap enough, or were a decade ago. Don't know now, on account it's getting harder and harder to find linear ic's anymore. :( But that's a rant for another day. :D

  4.

The Channel 4 units were shipped to cities that have Channel 3 TV stations.

I wouldn't say that . If it was a 2/3 unit, and channel 3 is used, then channel 2 will be avaialble. It's FCC requirements, you can not have two broadcast stations on ajoining channels. There has to be a minimum of one channel spacing.

Low power micro broadcasters might have ways around this, but they would also not be a signifigant interference factor unless you lived right next to the guy.

  5. Is there anywhere on the net that has schematics to the sega cd?

    Ben

I haven't seen any myself and I've looked around a bit. However, keep in mind that the Sega CD is mostly made up of custome surface mount VLSI chips. So it ain't going to be easy to do anything on a circuit level.

  6. I just bought a Coleco "Telstar Alpha" pong game. $1.70.

Works fine. Has 4 'games". Tennis, Hockey, Handball, Jai Alai.

I love these really old RF devices, before the FCC started digging into them all about shielding and all that crap. This Telstar game has a crystal clear picture via RF. So what if all my neighbors can watch me play on their TV's too. :)

Runs off 6 'C' size batteries too.

    It's kool. 8)

  7. Random battles are not a problem at all. They are very well spaced out, fast paced, and exciting.

Are you sure your playing the same game? I played it, and it had random battles constantly. I stopped playing after an hour because I got so sick of it. It was lent to me by a friend who had also become annoyed with it after a few hours.

I like Evolution 2. It many ways, it's kinda goofy & childish, but on a whole I think it's better. If nothing else, less annoying.

Thou I'd rank Legend of Zelda on the N64 as the best RPG, period.

  8. I'm thinking of taking one of my spare 128's, and pulling the MMU out of it, so I can modify my main unit with the 256kram upgrade. It just seems so time consuming, even worse then the 1700 reu upgrade.

Atleast the C-128 can directly access the 256k ram via the bank command, so it would be worth doing at some point I think.

Just don't have the time for stuff like that anymore.. :(

  9. Me. My first computer was a C-64 back in 1983.

    I now have....

    3 C-16's

    1 Vic-20

    2 C-64's

    6 or 7 C-64 mother boards

    4 C-128's (one with StereoSid & 64kVDC)

    1 C-128 motherboard

    1 C-128D

    2 Amiga 500's

1 Parts bin full of misc atari/cbm chips.

    1 C2N datasette

    3 C-16 datasette's

    6 1541's

    2 1571's

    2 1581's

1 1351 mouse (rebuilt into a PC mouse housing)

    1 Picasso's Revenge Lightpen

    1 SuperGfx Gold printer interface

    1 SuperGfx Jr

    1 2002 monitor

    1 1902 monitor

    1 1084 monitor

    1 1084S (flyback took a crap on me a few years ago! :( )

    1 MPS801 printer

    1 Omnitronix RS-232 interface

    2 Cardco datasette adaptors

    1 3rd Party 20meg HD for the Amiga 500

    2 512kram/Clock cards for the Amiga 500

    1 VicModem

    1 1670 modem

    1 1700 REU (upgraded to 2 megs)

    1 C64/128 ML programming book

    5 C-64 Programmers Reference Guides

    1 C-128 Programmers Reference Guide

I also have 3 of each of these two other printer interfaces, but I can't for the life of me remember the names. I think one was from Cardco, and the other was like 2.5x6" box with a green label. they came in 4K and 8K ram versions.

Also hundreds of 1541 flippy disks, 1571 disks and 1581 disks. Disks that I downloaded stuff too that is. I also have 100's of store bought games/apps, etc...

    I think thats it.

  10. too bad tnn sucks...

You're talking about the old Nashville network. Not The National Network. The New TNN rocks. The old TNN was all country all the time. Ick.

I'm sorry, I liked The Nashville Network. I'm not a big country fan myself, but it had some entertaining shows, and some good classic movies at night.

Besides, on a whole, it was simply different.

The New TNN is nothing more then another mainstream network like USA, TBS, TNT and so on. I almost never watch it just for that reason. :|

  11. So, whats your favorite home version of Ms.Pac-man.

If you want, feel free to explain why, and maybe a list of the home ports you have.

I like the Atari 2600 version the best. Sure, it's GFX & Sound arn't as good as any of the other. But the 2600 version really captured the pure raw essence of the game and it's game play very well. More so then most others did.

Sega Dreamcast version (ala: Namco Museum) is a very close second and all around great version.

The Atari 7800 version is the easiest version of Ms.Pac-Man I have ever played.

    I have Ms.Pac-man for:

    Atari 800

    Atari 2600

    Atari 5200

    Atari 7800

    Commodore 64

    Nintendo SNES

    Sega Genesis (Tengen version)

Sega Dreamcast (Ms.Pac-man 3D and Namco Museum versions)

  12. Apple Macintosh (original classic mac type)

    Apple IIe

Apple IIc w/3.5" floppy & external 5.25" floppy

    Atari 2600 (4)

    Atari 5200

    Atari 7800

    Atari 800

    Atari 800XL (with Pokey/Gumby, UltraSpeed OS & 512k upgrade)

    Atari Jaguar

    Coleco TelstarAlpha

    Commodore 16 (3)

    Commodore 64
