  1. If by "you people" you mean me, no I didn't buy it. Actually there wasn't supposed to be a "you" in there. Typo. Damn this edit or lack there of.
  2. And sadly, I bet you people bought it and made excuses to justify doing so. There in lies the inherent problem. People will happily buy crap. It's easy money for the developers and publishers.
  3. Patches only fix the inherent problem so that it can't initiate during game play. But they don't fix bad game saves corrupted with bug inducing parameters that would effectively bypass any fix put in place. Whatever. You know, just beause you don't care or you don't have a problem doesn't mean it's not a valid issue or that people don't have a right to complain. It's really an annoying attitude that plagues a lot of people on the internet over everything from game bugs to usenet providers to carpet fuzz. It always raises the question; why do people who don't care/have problems even take the time to engage people who do/do over something that obviously isn't even of any concern to them? What IS their agenda besides to say "shut up, take what you're given and be happy about it". Boy if only "everyone" was like this there would be no need for patches and DLC at all. Can I get into the act? I honestly don't have any of the so called issues fixed in the patch. Ergo I say everyone that complained about them are just whiners bitching about nothing and Bethesda should have spent their time on something more productive. Like fixing the quest ending bugs in the Superhero Gambit & Tenpenny quests, amung others. Honestly, sometimes I get the impression you would be happy about and except buying a new car on sale that only came with 3 wheels because the money you saved is more then the cost of buying the 4th wheel yourself. While your powers of overlookedness and trivial dismissedness are astounding, it doesn't fix issues or help people that have them. To that end, please stop singling me out every time I make a valid criticism about a game. What was one thing you said a while ago..."there goes Artlover bitching again". - A game is too short, I'm bitching. A game has broken gameplay mechanics, I'm bitching. A game isn't as advertised, I'm bitching. If I say anything other then a game is 100% perfection, I'm bitching. - Pro tip for you, you have an ignore list, maybe you should consider using it.
  4. Yeah, what some other people have said. It all depends on what you're trying to emulate and what you're using to do it with. Depending on these factors results can be anything from unplayable missery to near 100% perfection. Personally, I mostly use Xbox emulation and play mostly 2600, 5200, 7800, A800, C64, NES, SNES, N64, MAME, NeoGeo, TG16, Colecovision and Intellivision. Most are nearly perfect. Only the N64 really has any issues, but is still more then playable for most games.
  5. No love for Sonic Jam or Clockwork Knights? Panzer Dragoon, eh... Yeah, it's good, but remember: Pop-in-a-rific
  6. Click on the "More Search Options" link after clicking "Search" and you should see the advanced search options page. Thanks for the tip. What with the dark color scheme and my monitor settings, I completely missed that! Wow, are they convoluted. I just tried that. It popped up a new window that only give me the option of selecting which forum to search in and a check box option to select most relevant or most recent. There was yet another button for more options that you had to click to pull up the full search window. To that end, yes, they default to search posts, not titles.
  7. What does that have to do with the results of those two polls in the first two links? They simply asked 6000+ and 8000+ console gamers the question and in both cases, 20% replied that they played pirated games. There was no targeting console gamers who own 100's of games.
  8. I'm guessing they have their search results defaulting to return posts instead of topics (I went to try but you have to be logged in to use the search feature). If you click on the "Search" link on this page and then select "Show results as posts", you'll get the same type of results here. Interesting. Now if only they gave you a real search page where you could select the options you want. That's one of the problems over there. Clicking on search only pops up a small text entry box next to the "search" button where you can enter a keyword. That's it.
  9. Interesting question. Dunno. Best thing to do is set up a scan and let it find them for you. That what I always did. Computers are so dirty RF wise you can generally pick up activity across the entire spectrum. Atleast I could. Tho if I remember, more of the activity was in the 412-512 mhz range.
  10. Yeah, it's really pretty bad. The timeout in the editor is just freaking ridiculous. If you type one line and don't reread it for errors, you "might" get it to post the first time around. Other stupidty on their forums.... Topic "yada yada", 21 replies, 0 views. WTF? How the hell do you open a topic and reply with quotes and all without viewing it? I've given up on the search. It's really dumb. Search for a keyword, and you'll see the same post displayed several times in the results because it found the keyword several times in that post. It's like they really don't want people trying to find anything that interests/concerns them or contributing.
  11. Silly? Pointing out the questionable logic of things you said. If they are somehow silly, then explain. Further, you still haven't addressed the issue that Nintendo hasn't honored normal business policy and notify him of the application status as per their own time frame. All they need to do is send an email saying "sorry but it was rejected because you fail to meet all of our requirements". They specifcly told him they would, and they didn't. End of story on that one. Wow. Can you possibly distort the truth and what this situation is about any more then that? No, it doesn't. http://warioworld.com/apply/ The only thing is says is you need an business office location for security purposes. Still haven't answered my question explained why you believe that should realisticly matter beyond it's what Nintendo wants. Sure, it's a valid only because it exists as a condition of the application, but it's a stupid condition in and of itself that has nothing to do with game development. Security is bogus as a justification because there is infact no logical reason why a private office would be any less secure. Business offices can be hacked and broken into, not to mention have a higher flow of human traffic which would not be the case in a private setting. Don't have strangers comming into my home asking to use the bathroom and sneaking off to find my office like you would in a public setting.
  12. I didn't even have to do that. I just loaded it and hit start!
  13. What do you base that on? http://play.tm/news/5345/console-piracy-on-the-rise/ http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/the-co...-piracy-squeeze They are talking about piracy rates in excess of 20% on consoles. If 20% of console gamers are playing pirated copies, then the number of modded consoles logicaly can't be that far behind. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/10/10/fa...-the-xbox-360/1 20,000 downloads just in a few hours. http://www.tomshardware.com/console-piracy,video-310.html Video discussion on console piracy, how easy it is, and other odd tid bits. No real numbers or anything, but it doesn't play it down at all. Look at usenet and torrents. Activity is very high. I doubt people are downloading these huge files just to "have", but rather to play which means they have something to play it on.
  14. It isn't just about getting the SDK, it's about Nintendo never doing what they said they would and should do. He was specificly told he would be notified within a timeframe regarding the stastus, as to if he was approved or not along with some vague pre-progammed explanation for why. They simply have been giving him the run around from day one, and there is no excuse for that. Let him apply, review the application like any other, approve or reject it for whatever reasons they have, notify him within the time frame they stated. Ya know, what they are SUPPOSED to do. Would you care to explain why please. What does that have to do with one's skill/abaility to produce a game? Also, FYI, there is no requirments to have a full staff. Only location, and only for security reasons. And from what I read on the SDK application, that is the only term he is in violation of. I don't recall reading anything about him wanting to be big, he just wants to finish and sell his game. A whole bunch is wrong with this. The primary thing is that he is developing this for the DS for people with DS's, not Wii owners who want to stay at home playing on a virtual console or something. Second, AFAIA, downloads made to the DS are not permenent and are erased once the unit is turned off. Which means it needs to be on a cart to be portable and truely usable. Without official Nintendo support, this is a problem since they have to be encrypted. The only option then is the hacks to get the DS to run DS code from the GBA slot, which requires extra hardware besides a GBA flash/rom card to do. The final product towards this end would not be legally sellable. He's not asking it to be accepted by the company either. He's expecting them to make good on their operating proceedures of completing his SDK application one way or another. Further, even if they did approve the SDK application, that just gives him the tools needed to finish. Has nothing to do with if the game itself would be approved by Nintendo for an official stamp. Yeah, and? That's how it typically works. Gaming, Music, Books, Movies. Product comes first, then you try to find someone to publish it. You're going to be hard pressed to find a publisher that will commit when you don't even have a finished product yet. Even big names and big companies aren't guaranteed their publishing outlets. Only exception is if you as an established sell worthy entity has a binding contract with a publisher, and little people/up-starts don't get those.
  15. So I signed up on the Bethesda website yesterday.... Boy do their forums suck. All posts are limited to 200 posts. Flood control in 60 seconds for EVERYTHING, including just trying to reply to a message. Search is very limited and only lets you search for a keyword inside messages. Can't search by user or anything else. Quoting a message only seem to quote the person you are replying to and ignores any secondary quotes they have in their message. Posting/Reponding times out after like 60 seconds. So if you spend too long in the editor, it gives an error and won't post. It instead gives you an option to copy your message to your clipboard, then you have to start a new reply over and paste your message then submit it. You can't "upload" an avatar. If you want to use a custom one, you have to provide a URL link to it.
  16. Heh I used to do that with an old TV of mine. If you put it on one of the unused channels (11 worked best) you could hear cellphone calls from a two house radius. I did the TV trick too, but had to use the high UHF bands, up around channel 80. UHF channels 70-83 were re-assigned to cell phones long ago (1980). Channel 11, eh?.. You sure you weren't listening to cordless phones? There are no cellphone frequencies in the VHF range. But older cordless phones did operate in the TV's internal RF circuit frequency range.
  17. Same here. Only takes a minute or two to get used to the control scheme, and once you do, you discover it's quite logical.
  18. I'm using ABC 2.6.9. Very old, but works. Anywho, I just tried BitComet .70, and it's exactly the same. 2 seeds, 5 peers, about 2k/sec. Ah well.... BTW, don't upgrade to the newer BitComet. I first tried 1.07 (the newest) and it's buggy and slow. Wants to install a new web browser. Couldn't even get it to download any torrent at all. Where as the .70 version you use worked right off the bat with no BS. Edit: BTW, I'm on Comcast cable.
  19. Were do you get that idea? Piracy is at it's highest levels ever according to all the reports by all the experts. Nope, well depends. Not all consoles require a modchip. The Xbox and Xbox360 do not. Even the PS1 and PS2 never "needed" one (and I'm not even talking swaptrick methods here). Excluding the PS3 (which I don't think has been hacked yet) only the GC and WII come to mind as "needing" a chip. Even for those that want/need to go that route: Modchips are quite cheap and easy to install (many have solderless options). Yeah, PC is actually slightly more difficult in some ways. Hardcore expert hackers and crackers need to study/edit/modify the code to remove various protections and create patchers/keygens so people can install the fixed pirated versions. Where as in the consoles it's mostly just a matter of make a copy and your done.
  20. Yeah, I tried google searching and only found one torrent, the same one listed on Lemon64. - http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4425493/RUN - Even TPB show only 2 people are currently seeding (and there are as of this morning and I'm getting around 2k/sec now). Nothing wrong on my end or with my client that I can tell because other torrents (like PowerPlay) zipped through at over 250k/sec and I had it in just a few hours, and other non-related torrents have hit speeds of over 600k/sec. Anywho, if there another torrent other then that one, I'd love to know about it, cuz I'm about ready to give up.
  21. To be fair, that link you posted doesn't have any links. Just a link to the root search page of the torrent portal being used, and gives a bunch of names the mags that are posted, but no torrent links. So you have to search the torrent site, which is a real pain in the ass for some things like RUN, that gives you 100's of hits but no matches (well, maybe it does, but after digging through half a dozen pages, I didn't feel like looking anymore). This is slightly better: http://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php...a61c0a51ad2a2e1 - Has actual clickable links for a few of them. To that end, RUN is the one I wanted most, and it figures that is the only being seeded by only 1 person at a whopping 0.2k/sec, and their's is only 75% complete. ETA: 9 weeks. Would be nice if someone posted these to usenet or MediaFire.
  22. There is no PS2 or Dreamcast emulator for the Xbox. Go away, Regal.
  23. What would really be interesting is to simply create a Multisim type engine plugin for MAME (and others EMUS) along with a tailored layout creator program for it. Then one could just draw up the schematics of these games that could be loaded along with any gfx/snd roms. I honestly don't think it would be as complicated as it sounds. It's mostly just a matter of defining a fixed set of end-points/components that tie into the emulator interpreter. IE: Have to use the "MAME Player Up" switch component for the player up switch in the schematic, and so on. Someone, not me, should really work on this!
  24. Sounds kool. Guess I'm going to have to get another 360 so I can upgrade the dash and get this. Eh. What un-openable vault? I'm missing something here.
  25. It's been mentioned on the Bethesda website a few times (not by me thou). Turns out this is in-fact a bug. The "inaccessable" flag for the door in the ambush chamber gets removed at (just before?) the cutscene, but isn't restored after the fact. According to the admin, their dev team is aware and has already been looking into this since last month (Dec 2008).
