  1. Looks like a Genesis game, regarding the sprite/color style, but it runs on modern hardware and possibly it is much more sophisticated than it looks at first glance. I haven't played it much. A similar game is very possible on Jaguar though, built from scratch, but a 1:1 port is very unlikely.
  2. same level is unlikely, R Type and Thunder Force are 16 bit shmups that require more capable hardware, e.g. Atari Lynx.
  3. I doubt you would see this kind of graphics/sprites on a 7800!
  4. It would need some serious downgrades to run on Jaguar.
  5. Xeno Crisis looks really tame compared to this: Iam amazed how the Genesis is pushed with the latest shmup indie games!
  6. Good scores! Very happy this game gets some recognition. Now bring on Rocketeer Caravan Edition!😅
  7. With prerendered screens, totally possible. However he might run into ROM Limits.
  8. Yeah, I usually play some full runs to warm up, eventually I improved my score.
  9. Cumulative score after game over (all soldiers lost). Its basicially kills vs losses. The game invites for score farming, so lets see what happens I reached level 5.2. - the game gets brutally hard.
  10. For beginners and even rather decent players, I disagree with that. Even with some mistakes, you can still accomplish a good score (50,000 - 70,000) and even more importantly, improve your skills with the game. For a perfect run, you need to progress fast to level 5, no deaths and catching all parachute guys. This would end up in a score way over 100,000. Tip: Shoot the parachute guys and catch 'em, this would save you a lot of time! Defeat bosses as quickly as possible without loosing a life.
  11. We are lucky, Bubsy 3D did not fit in! I think some programmers found a way to execute GPU code from RAM, but its said to be much slower than executing from GPU cache.
  12. Ah, thanks, so Shens Nexus Shmup is not the same as Zzyorxx II. I always thought that. Olivier Nallet did work on that. But I can remember that several publications used a screenshot of the latter game for Nexus/Stellar X. A demo/proto of Zzyorxx II was released, but its really really rudimentary.
  13. Can you provide a source for this? Iam pretty sure the Super Burn Out programmer Olvier Nallet did some work on Zzyorx II.
  14. https://www.mobygames.com/game/6878/super-burnout/credits/jaguar/?autoplatform=true I dont think so. Also, Oliver Nallet was rather positive about the Jag. I guess it was the "Skiing and snowboarding game" team. Oh, it wasn't: https://www.mobygames.com/game/6722/val-disere-skiing-and-snowboarding/credits/jaguar/?autoplatform=true
  15. Just some questions that came into my mind regarding the alleged cut back to half speed of GPU and DSP. (See quote above) Does that mean the first prototypes had them run at over 50 MHZ? And then, how that works with the bus speed and 13 MHZ CPU 68K? Anyway, was there any chance Bubsy had been a better game with a 50 MHZ GPU/DSP? I doubt it. You may also ask yourself why ATD and Eclipse were able to deliver proper running 3D games. Eclipse also reported about overheating prototypes, but nothing of 50% cut backs, which would have impacted Iron Soldier heavily. BTW Checkered Flag controls just as bad at 60FPS. Racing games prior to it had even lower FPS, but much better controls (e.g. Stunt Racer and Stunt Race FX).
