Wow! What a week last week. We just witnessed the KO of a great player! It only takes one game to get you KO'ed! From this point onward it could be anyone! This is where I predict the low score of the week... but first. Recap: Laser gates I predicted a low score of 42K. This is how it ended up. 45,249 - cparsley 44,629 - DTKofoed 42,599 - oyamafamily WOW I was right! Thank-you, thank-you. Those high scores were once again unbelievable! 85,006 - Deteacher 84,736 - Liduario 84,236 - Gorfy All separated by less than 800 pts! Now onward... EFTM Now this game is impressive to me because it is one of the few 1st person games for the Atari 2600 and only the second I have ever played. Great game. Scoring sometimes is based on luck. If you get the right set-up with the objects in a nice easy location then you can score high. My only grip is that they alien guy scares me. Since we are down to 9 plyers then my prediction will be 210! Wow, I have never gotten that high so this week will be a challenge for me. Maybe, just a slight maybe, we might see a low score of 150. Ok, it is the TOP 10 ! One bad week for anyone will get you knocked-out! This is where I predict the low score. So lets review last week. Astroblast. i predicted the low score would be 25K. The low score was... 32,950 - Scrabbler15 30,870 - DTKofoed 26,975 - classicgamer_27330 Wow, I must say I was VERY close. My best prediction yet. The high scores were: 1,000,000 - Jifremok 408,760 - Gorfy 164,650 - JacobZu7zu7 Nice scores! Like I said, endurance was the key to first. How long did that take? 2-3 hours? Now onward to the TOP 10! Laser Gates: This game could have been good with a little more game play variety. But still it is a challenge and sometimes luck is involved when blasting homing missiles. Most people with a joystick will not have trouble breaking 30K. On a keyboard 30K is a good score and 40K is tough. So, I predict a low score of 42K will be needed to pass. Most of us have the game and most of us have a joystick. 42K might seem high but by Sunday, plus this is the Top 10, we all should be much better at this game. As for high score... well 80K looks to be possible and mighty impressive. My first submitted score: Vocelli: 22762 Good Luck to the Top 10 !

Once you get used to the speed after 50K, the game could go on for a while. I stopped. Once you get "into the zone", you can rack up 5-8 lives without dieing! Vocelli: 159,970 Yeah, personal best!

Reaching 100k is a whole different story. I cannot see many of us reaching 100k. You can't throw out a game because of a glitch at 100 k. Besides maybe it was done intentionally.

Hey, it is a new week. Which means a new game for the Knockout Tourney! I assume the final will be in June. Wow! But first... Fantastic Voyage: Everyone competed and everyone did well. But my prediction was off slighlty. I predicted 210K as the lowest so if these players would have saved one more patient then they would have been saved as well. Nice to see everyone but in a good score! 05+ - 197,286 - DT Kofoed 10th 04+ - 188,286 - classicgamer_27330 11th 03+ - 182,650 - LarcenTyler 12th These players... 15+ - 397,144 - toymailman 1st 14+ - 395,960 - oyamafamily 2nd 13+ - 362,378 - Gorfy 3rd ...did GREAT! We seem to see the same names near the top everyweek BUT... one bad game and anyone can be Knocked-out! Everyone has one bad game on the list, RIGHT? Now onward: Astroblast I use to play this game with a joystick until I read that you can use paddles! Wow, this changed my game. I think I am pretty good at this game but not great. Someone out there will be using a keyboard, not good. They will have trouble.But I predict anyone who uses paddles will break 40K easily. Once over 40K the game gets a lot faster and at 50K WOW! My low score prediction will be 25K. I know that is low but with a keyboard this game is tough. Someone will, no doubt, will break 100K and maybe 200K. Ok. It looks like everything could be very interesting from this point onward! This is were I predict the low score of the week. But first, we look back at Kung-Fu Master. (a game I finally got good at) Other than the ZERO score the scores were much higher than I thought. The bottom 3 scores were: 86,840 - Scrabbler15 82,420 - LarcenTyler 68,560 - classicgamer_27330 I predicted a low score of 52K. That low score is pretty good and the scores just above are 'practice' worthy. Gotta practice to get those scores. Speaking of practice: 329,280 - Gorfy 1st 303,420 - toymailman 2nd 214,940 - Jifremok 3rd WOW! This just proves that practice is needed to have scores think this! This weeks game Fantastic Voyage is another game you need to practice to get get good! So I will predict a nice robust score of 210,000 as the lowest score. That might be high but if everyone puts the time in we should see a low score that is hard to beat! Should be very fun this week! Time to start to worry when Sunday approaches! Oh, I have no score yet but have broken 200,000K as a kid but not much higher. Good Luck!

Of Note: It makes more sense to have the early rounds shorter and the final rounds longer. Just like in sports. Most often the first round of the playoffs are shorter to get rid of the crappy teams. I know baseball does this and I think basketball and maybe hockey too. Then the later rounds are longer because the match-ups are more intense. So if we do knock-out again, and I hope we do, then the first 5-9 rounds should be shorter to rid the tourney of uncommited players. Just a suggestion.

I like the seven days. It gives me a chance to play even if I get busy at work.

Even though everyone gets an auto pass I think there should be a penalty for the lowest score. Like 50 push-ups.

Yeah for me! The great thing about the knockout Tourney is that it brings out the best in me. Plus, I can really get into games that I truely had no intentions of playing more than 3-4 times. So after about 100 tries. Vocelli: 78680 Personal Best by far! I think I still have some room to grow! This score makes my Friday even better.
