Just a thought... if an item is listed on a Friday, then 10 days gives two full weekends for an item to be viewed. I think most people use eBay on the weekends, so starting an auction on a Friday and listing it for 10 days should increase the number of people who will see the auction?

I don't know much about the 8-bits, I just got an 800xl myself about a month ago, but after playing a few of the 8-bit games, my advice is to keep the machine and collect for it. The 8-bit game versions are great!

Pac-Man Vs. Super Mario.
Christophero Sly replied to Atari Master's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I know we're talking about the actual characters here (Pac-Man vs. Mario), and, in that context, I believe Pac-Man is the more recognizable charcter to the public at large. However, if it's Pac-Man vs. Mario in the context of the game that first made him a star, Donkey Kong, then I would guess that the recognzition levels are much closer. Try conducting an informal poll comparing Pac-Man to Donkey Kong. Before Mario headlined his own games, he was just a character in Donkey Kong. Therefore, among the older generation, Mario is probably synonomous(sp?) with Donkey Kong. Taking this into consideration, I think Mario is probably just as recognizable as Pac-Man. If Donkey Kong had been titled "Mario meets Kong" or simply "Mario Kong", then the name Mario alone would probably be just as recognizable as Pac-Man. ...my $.02 -
I just read this in Creative Computing Video & Arcade Games, Vol. 1 No. 1 - Spring 1983, available online at atarimagazines.com. I don't own a Colecovision, but I've acquired a few Colecovision carts, here and there, including Donkey Kong, with the hope of one day finding a Colecovision console because I was under the impression that the arcade translations on the Colecovision were usually superior to the other vintage consoles. But only three levels on Donkey Kong? Heck, I'm fairly sure that even the TI-99/4A version had all four (I'll check for sure tonight). And it seems to me that the 8-bit Atari version would be very hard to top. Anyway, it’s got me thinking that maybe I won’t put together a Colecovision collection after all. But before I decide, I’d appreciate any feedback on these questions. 1. What arcade translation titles are available only for the Colecovision? 2. Are there any arcade translations that are available for the Atari consoles (8-bit included) that obviously play much better on the Colecovision? and, 3. Ultimately, would one be missing anything critical if they did not collect for the Colecovision and only collected for the Atari Consoles (8-bits included)? Of course, questions 2 and 3 are largely matters of opinion. Nevertheless, I'd be interested to hear any feedback. Thanks

Sounds like the power connector has come loose from the board. I had a 2600 with a similar problem and was able to fix it by resoldering the connector to the board.

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
Christophero Sly replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Picked up fourteen 8-bit game disks yesterday, including "Leather Goddesses of Phobos" . Never had that one for my Apple II, and it wasn't included in the Activision collections. Nice to finally have it. Also picked up a dozen or so 2600 carts for $0.75 each. The best was Snoopy and the Red Baron. When I placed the 2600 carts on the check-out counter, the cashier exclaimed, "8-Tracks!". I just smiled and nodded. Needless to say, that is why I always look amongst the 8-track tapes when I hit a thrift store. Oh yeah, I also picked up Delta Drawing CIB for the 8-bits (thought it might be rare...Nope!) and what turned out to be a C64 cart, Retro Ball by HES. I thought it was an 8-bit cart too, until I got it home. I'd never seen a C64 cart before. -
Collecting the same title across all systems
Christophero Sly replied to itatton's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Do you have the PC and Mac versions of Flashback as well? What made you collect that particular game? I enjoyed the SNES version of Flashback. I'm curious, besides the SNES, what other consoles was Flashback released for? -
I have several hundred extra 2600 carts to swap/sell....
Christophero Sly replied to Pooyan's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Yeah, but no duplicates to trade with. Thanks and good luck. -

Wow, I didn't know about this site. Not complete, but it looks like a great source for label variant information.

Does this happen with every cart you've tried?

8-bit arcade conversions not on 5200/7800
Christophero Sly replied to Christophero Sly's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Oh, I meant titles available on cartridge for the 8-bits. Sorry, I should have been more specific. Thanks -
Can anyone help me fill out a list of official arcade conversion titles available on the 8-bits, but not on the 5200 or 7800. I can only come up with three: Track and Field Spy Hunter Super Zaxxon I'm just interested in official releases, not in prototypes (Track and Field). Thanks

Brian, Check your messages please.

I always find that Activision carts fresh from the wild need the most help, but I've always been able to get them working after a good cleaning. In my experience, Mnetwork carts suffer most often from physical damage. Ultimately, I end up with more dead Atari carts than any other type.

**EDIT** The toploader has been spoken for. Thanks.

I'm not an expert, but I doubt it. Although, I've never seen one so configured. I would venture that it is probably less common than a similar 4-switch produced overseas, but I wouldn't think that it is 'rare'.
-
All the California 4-switchers I've seen have a four-switch top mated to a modified 6-switch base (the original joystick ports on back are covered with a thin piece of plastic). Again, it's my understanding that Atari did this to use up the remaining inventory of 6-switch bases. Similar 'frankenstein' consoles were also produced overseas.
