  1. Crazy. I should have kept track of how much time I spent playing Dragster back when I was fervently trying to break 5.61 secs. Nowhere near 100,000 minutes, but long enough that I finally had to give it up because I was getting nerve damage in my hands.
  2. That's the "Atari, Corp." re-release from 1986. Uncommon, but not rare. It's a picture label inside, on which the title will be split into two words and the "use with _____ controller" information will either covered by a strip of black tape or else omitted entirely. Here is the entry for this variant on atarimania. Don't bother attempting to uploading anything to the AA database. The AA database is woefully out of date and hasn't been actively maintained in over a decade. Atarimania is the really the place to go for this sort of information nowadays.
  3. Bought some Genesis games from FujiSkunk. He gave me a good deal, they were well-packaged, and quickly shipped.
  4. I really enjoyed these games as a kid, primarily on the TI-99/4A. I can vividly recall playing Pirate Adventure for the first time. To be honest, it was kind of mind-blowing. It's hard to believe that there was a time when loading a game from a cassette tape seemed like state-of-the-art.
  5. Sounds interesting. I'll have to check that one out. I know this game takes a lot of flack, but I've always loved it. There's some killer tracks in its OST too.
  6. Arx Fatalis (XBOX) Surprised I saw this one through to completion, let alone to have enjoyed it as much as I did. It's an old-fashioned dungeon-crawler, complete with all the attendant pros and cons of that genre. Plus, a few very significant flaws unto itself, the most notable being a poor story and miserable (as in maybe the worst I've ever heard) voice acting. Game nails the ambience though, and the gameplay was compelling enough to keep me invested until the end. One of the most underappreciated games on the original XBOX.
  7. Gotta love a good side deal! Every sale is negotiable, irrespectve of rules and regulations, either you make it - or someone else will. That's reality, its up to you where you want to position yourself in it.
  8. Odyssey 2 - I actually enjoyed this system, but not enough to justify the space it was taking. And the sticks were unreliable. Sold/traded about 40 games. I believe I gave the console away for the cost of shipping. NES - Built a decent collection, but there were few games I really enjoyed. The NES generation is not my era, and without a sense of nostalgia, and little interest in most japanese games, I couldn't get into this system. Sold/traded everything I had. SMS - See NES. Sold/traded 2 consoles and games. Atari STf - Interesting to play around with, but not a system I spent any time with in its day, so again, without nostalgia, this was merely a curiosity for me. Sold with monitor and disks. Atari 800XL - Ultimately, a space-saving decision, with a side of insufficient nostalgia. I didn't use this platform much in its day, but I do have enormous nostalgia for this era, so it was a tough decision to let this one go. I had a decent-sized library, but I kept this system around for years simply to be able to play my copy of Boulder Dash. Once I decided to let that particular game go, the whole system went to the chopping block. Sold in pieces; financed my PS3. N64 - No real nostalgia, and couldn't find more than a half-dozen games I enjoyed. Its whole generation has aged poorly, IMO. Easy decision. I've also trimmed my PS1, SNES, and Genesis collections down to about two dozen core games for each system. I'll reevaluate these in the next year or two, and dump them when they can no longer be justified. Nostalgia will probably be enough to keep them in my collection, but my 5200 and CV collections are also under scrutiny.
  9. Atari, Corp. packaged Atari, Inc. games in Atari, Corp. boxes, so consoles wouldn't surprise me.
  10. 86 Star Raiders box and manual (B&W) exist (NTSC). I posted the box to Rom's thread here.
  11. 1986 Dodge 'Em (NTSC) 1986 Street Racer (NTSC) 1986 Star Raiders Box (NTSC) Kind of rough, but it's the only one I've ever seen. You're also missing the NTSC 86 Bowling variant with the incorrect controller information present (not covered by black tape). I think Phil has a scan of that one on his site.
  12. Rom, I believe the entry for 1986 black label (Atari, Corp.) Breakout in the Atarimania database has been mislisted as PAL, when it should be NTSC. At least I can't find any NTSC entry for those variants, and I've never known them to exist as PAL variants.
  13. It could be that the laser is weak. My XBOX suffered from this. It's a simple adjustment if you have a bit set, a multimeter, and a steady hand. If you're thinking to replace the whole drive anyway, might as well try tweaking the laser first. It could save you some money.
  14. That ZORK poster is AWESOME! Wish I could afford it.
  15. I guess I was unclear. The Flag Capture cart is legitimate, common even, insofar as a cartridge that looks like that actually exists, but the actual image of the cartridge on that page is a mock-up. Same goes for Warlords and Adventure--both legitimate labels, but their images on that page are also mock-ups. Actually, one of those three is probably completely legitimate because one of them, I assume, had to serve as the template for the other two, as well as Star Ship and Basic Math. The images of Basic Math and Star Ship are completely illegitimate. They are clear mock-ups representing labels that do not actually exist. Whoever is in contact with the author should suggest to him that he remove, at the very least, the mock-up images of Star Ship and Basic Math. The article is not well-served by their inclusion. I'm sure his intentions were benign in creating them, but one is left to question the veracity of the entire article when it includes such obvious misrepresentations.
  16. Flag Capture, Adventure, Warlords, Star Ship, and Basic Math are ALL easily identified as mock-ups. Why someone went to all that trouble is the real mystery.
  17. Based on the year the game was released, I'm guessing any PowerPC-based Mac running OS 7, 8, or 9 would run the game. Even if the game is 68k native, it should run fine on a PowerPC-based Mac. You may even be able to run the game through "Classic" mode on OS 10.1 to 10.4.
  18. Have any of you old Ultima junkies watched this latest video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT4-B7Kl1WA Fascinating stuff. I would have poured over and digested every minute detail of that stuff and peppered Garriot with a thousand questions. I would have been there until four in the morning. Too bad it's all lost on the interviewers. They seem to be almost completely ignorant about what they're being shown and end up making stupid comments. The look on Garriot's face in response to those comments is, at times, priceless.
  19. Looking for the following Genesis games, preferably cheap. In case you're wondering, these will be played, not scrapped for repros. Please bear in mind that I can't do "gifted" paypal, just normal "goods and services" paypal. Thanks. And, seriously, I won't ship these internationally. Please don't ask. Claimed.
  21. #2 -- YES If a seller doesn't list their prices, I don't even bother looking at what they have for "sale".
