99 thousand for a switch? How do people come up with these ridiculous prices? https://www.ebay.com/itm/233650509401 -
I cant solder for the life of me.
-
Would it be worth trying to get another cheap supply like this and fix it. Or the caps will just go bad again eventually. https://www.ebay.com/itm/124250522096

I did this works great. -
gameport pc 15 from back in the old days. I am trying to do wireless and might be able to if this worked on pc gameport 15 pin.
-
I tried one last time. Took out pram battery from cage. Looks almost new. Never leaked. Hard to believe. No dice. Still does not boot. PSU totally dead.
-
After leaving it unplugged all night I tried again now. Its completely dead now. There were few sparks like it was trying to power. But is completely dead now.
-
I found this also. I am not going to do this. But just neat somebody thought of this hack. http://www.toughdev.com/content/2017/05/replacing-the-power-supply-in-the-macintosh-se/
-
that was illegal instruction error not ram. Anyhow its getting too expensive. So thanks for all the help but I think I will just pack her up. Replacing the supply is too expensive and time consuming. And will eventually fail also.

I got another problem. SE is on last lims I think. It shut off in the middle of using it. maybe too much plugged. 5 things. Mouse, keyboard, tablet artpad 2, macally batwing joystick, and bernoulli external scsi tape 90. I had done this fews days ago no problem. Today after unplugging everything and just the SE it boots up. The outlet strip went bad. Now I connect just the external bernoulii, keyboard and mouse. The bernoulli boots up. But the mouse and keyboard are not responding. Even with a boot floppy and no external tape drive no keyboard or mouse working. I fried the adb ports maybe.
-
LUN? SCSI id on the external bernoulli is set to 1.
-
Also the 500mb arrived today. Now I need to get a proper external scsi case. I tried taking apart my bernoulli and borrowing the power and cable both are 50 pins. No dice. Powers and I can hear it spin. But hd sc setup finds no drives.
-
Also good news I found working copies mac paint on macintosh repository and flight sim 1.02 on macintosh garden. made the disk image in diskdup I think it was. Copy does not work. Have to make the image in diskdup. Its 800k not 400 disk it makes but 400k of files only how odd. But boots up and works. Has to boot from internal floppy but works no error.
-
Also what did this adapter cost to build?
-
Its not bad ram thank god. I disconnected everything. I held Command + Option + Shift + Delete on boot. And then it booted up and cleared the sad mac on reboot. And the external bernoulli scsi is booting also. Awesome.
-
Got another big problem now. I tried one last time to format some third party app. It bombed. I restarted and I get unhappy black sad mac iocon. 0000000F 00000003 According to google that is bad ram icon. Cant believe I killed the ram. Even no disk inserted it is doing that. So must be bad ram.

-
Yea probably. One of the format third party tools I tried said its not writing well. So might be the motor.
-
Assuming its fixable. Might not be. And last time the ebay guy used the 500mb it worked. But sitting in a desk drawer for 20 to 27 years might not fire up either. But worth a shot since the cheapest 500mb was 75 dollars. Even a 20mb was 35. And a 230mb was 50 plus 20 shipping. So 17.55 plus tax worth a shot.
-
But its only 20mb which is useless. Unless you are saying the original internal is valuable. There was another miniscribe 20 on ebay for 35 bucks. So not worth much. Or if the 500 works I can mail the 20mb to you no charge and you can try fixing it. If broken then just trash it. Not worth it.
-
I got a used quantum scsi 500mb 50 pin hard drive off ebay for 5 bucks plus 12 something shipping. Also got 7.0 install floppy disks off ebay. Couple questions. What is the most MB system 7 can handle. Will I be able to use all 500 at once. Or will I have to partition. And someday if I sell it. Is it worth more if I keep the original 20mb inside even if its not working. Or it does not matter. Because I upgraded to 4mb ram and its not even original. And it works but its not mint so if the 500 works and I replace it might get more. Or stock original everything is worth more. Since its been opened before probably does not matter. Maybe if it was all original mint never opened or uppraded. But its not.

If this could be converted to gameport this would be really cool.
