All-Time Top Three From Each Platform
0078265317 replied to Ransom's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Never heard of desert commander or Nobunaga's Ambition on nes even back in the day. I thought mario would be up there for sure. And under top three no spot for 5200. -
Or if we stuffed something under the contact half way. So it would still bend not never enough to loose contact with the game. As it still bends it won't be too hard to remove. Or something squishy like so it still flexes bot always goes back to shape. I fixed mine with 2 game genies. Removed the plastic A shaped part from two genies.. Taped it together and weged it into the nes so part of the second genie sticks outs. Or 3 genies if you really need. Can be done. Then connect the game to the genie and it starts every time. There is a little over hang so I just prop the game on top of a shoe box and walla. Kinda makeshift but for now works ok. Or get a top loader. Also have one of those. Official nes top loader not a knockoff. Got it off ebay for 36 dollars.

Is it supposed to give an error saying there is no controller.
-
Just a crazy idea but what about stuffing something underneath the pins to keep it from ever bending in the first place.

I have 2 copies of qbert, galaxian, and super breakout. Like to keep 1 copy of each and sell the other. Which ever is in better shape. I'll take pictures later. Just carts no manual or box. I don't know what is fair to ask for 3 loose carts.

Plus the 2600 slot is slanted and nes is straight. Not to mention the motherboard might barely just fit in there,
-
There are a few just don't remember. I think nwc 1990 was one of them and earthbound which never got realesed after some googling.
-
They all do. At least officail atari ones do. All my carts do. Even my qbert and frogger have it.
-
I like the rubber washer idea. Looks easier, more sealed than a metal washer, and it's black. Yes but a metal washer is defiinately more sturdy.
-
Or try a game genie. Sometimes using a gamegenie makes better contact with the pins. Or get a top loader. As for the connector I got mine of ebay for like 6 dollars. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 370447384178 Not bad plus warentee.

Not wasting anymore money it was just a test. Good enough as is for now. The buttons don't even work as I need new a new mylar flex or whatever it is called. Or I could use the wico for a paddle but not sure I want to destroy a good wico for that.
-
Anyhow here is my completed controller. Decided to get creative. Went to homedepot. Got the rubber washer fits just inside circle and looks cool. And the washer and nut from the potentionmeter. Nothing fancy. Not super sturdy but if you are gentle it is good.

My 5200 stopped working. Might get a 2 port or trade if I find one. But the 5200 4 port I have is still powering. So ac adpter still works. But what about 2 port. Can I use the same ac adapter or does 2 port use a different ac adapter.
-
Deck only no cords. Even untested might have good chips. If bidding is not too high get it. Worth the risk. If you 2 port works then I'll send you my 4 port and switchbox in exchange. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 370503988710

Nobody has a 2 port deck. Except my cousin used to have one but we threw it away long time ago. Now it is hard to find. 50 on ebay is the cheapest and that is too much. I paid 50 for 4 port + 3 controllers + trackball + 9 games. So 50 is too much. Or as phuzzed suggested the motherboard might be failing. But 2 ports have fialed also right. 2 port is no more stable right. Maybe it is time to ebay the whole collection.

My 5200 is acting up again not giving video. Switchbox might have gone bad again. But I got to test the paddle out before my atari stopped working. I'll take a photo.
-
Got it already. Now how to secure it. Velcor perhaps? The screw part is to short so washer not working.
-
Never mind I figured the correct sequence of wires. Yay. Got a working paddle. Now what is the best way to secure the potentionmeter to the bottom. Can I use velcro? Or is that too risky?
-
Kinda got it. Found even without a potentionmeter if I tap 1 black wire and the brown wire while the game is on the paddle reappears in super breakput and moves left and right. But if I connect those 2 wires to the 1k potentionmeter I got at radio shack nothing happens. Stick moves left and right but no paddle appears or moves when I move potentionmeter left and right.
