Don't know how this passed me by!(Tokyo, Japan / Seoul , Korea / Shanghai, China) – August 3, 2004 – SEGA® Corporation and JC Entertainment Corporation today announced a business alliance to co-develop and co-publish ShenmueTM Online, a massively multi-player online game(MMOG) for PC platform. Also SEGA has the basic agreement with T2 Technology Holdings Inc. to allow T2 Technology to license China online game operation of Shenmue Online.JC Entertainment will manage the content development, Korea online game operation and marketing of Shenmue Online, while SEGA will be also responsible for the content development and supervise the ongoing of development and licensing related to the online-game operations in each territory except Korea. In addition, Yu Suzuki, the creator of Shenmue and SEGA’s R&D Creative Officer, will supervise ongoing activities for the game.
By T2 Technology’s online game operation of Shenmue Online, the commercial launch is due to within 2005. Also Shenmue Online will roll out in Korea, beginning with a private beta in November 2004, followed by an open beta and the commercial launch in Spring 2005. The online game operation in Korea will be managed by JC Entertainment.
I'd heard rumors, but shit! Looks like there are probably betas floating about already... It'd be interesting to see if this is the conclusion to the series, or merely just a spin off?
More at http://www.shenmue-online.com/
I wish they gave more info on what its going to be..... I want the end of this story already. Why is it my favorite games I'll never get more of?

Leagues are a measure of distance, not depth.Well, the book is still good. I also enjoy Star Wars even though making the Alderan run in 5 parsecs (or whatever) means the same as "I made the trip to Toronto in 20 miles"... now to wait for Star Wars fans to say "Well d'uh" and non fans to say "What?" or "Who cares?"
Kessil run... 12 parsecs... I fact check.
Its spelled Kessel
I don't know why, but whenever someone suggests a handheld made by Microsoft, I think of something that weighs about 20 pounds and runs off a car battery. But I bet you could get a cute backpack with it... something pink maybe, with a Hello Kitty iron-on.......

Foxy, someone actually tried using your sig against me as a trash talk once. I was like "I know where I've heard that before!" How do you guys handle trash talk? Me, I never ever start it. If someone else starts it then I determine whether it's sincerely cruel and spiteful, or whether it's all in good fun. Then I choose my course of action that way. If it's genuinely mean, then I take the high road and ignore it, so as not to drop to their level. Or if they're targetting someone else, I may try to mediate it out, but usually just ignore that too. But if it seems like it's all in good fun, then the way I see that, is it's all just part of the game and I usually do allow myself to reciprocate. Anyway, one such time, this guy comes at me with "your mom goes to college" and I come back with: "Hey, have you ever seen your mom juice an orange with just her nipples?........Well I have!" And you could hear everybody with headphones laugh at that one. It shut the kid up.Nothing pisses people off more than when they say some stupid crap and I just start laughing my ass off.
Its a good thing you sent a message along with your friend invite, or I would have just deleted it. Seems female players are freaks of nature on online gaming and most of the guys get hard-ons once they figure out I'm not a prepub boy. I get a lot of friend requests and I just delete them all.

ok that's just gross. So you're playing your game while you're doing your business. Then you have to wipe off your business, so you have to set your game down. And more than likely you are setting down somewhere in the bathroom.... have you ever heard that toilet's have a 6 foot spray zone? Yeah. So unless you are consistently and anally - no pun intended - closing your lid before you flush, your toilet is totally contaminating every surface within 6 feet of it. So after you're done and you, hopefully, wash your hands, you pick up your game which was lying in a mess of germs, and probably just got sprayed on. Do you go have a snack right after, too?

But they have such beautiful graphics.
And repetition is no problem for us old-schoolers, right?
I don't know what it was about them I think probably the controls. If I could have mastered them I might have done ok, but I'm not very good at games where you have to use combo button moves. I've played through Sudeki for the XBox probably 6 times and it was only this last time through that I finally figured out the timing for the combos.

OH MY GOD, I AM SO DAMN CUTE!!!!!!
I MIGHT EVEN BE CUTER THEN MACGURL!!!! -
They're right, everyone else is wrong, and after they've made their jabs, the obligatory "Every system is good, why can't we all just get along?" post comes along, in a lame attempt to prove how open-minded Nintendies are. No one's buying it but the Nintendo-philes, who'll buy anything.Isn't it possible that some people actually like more than one console? I know I do. I have lots and lots of different consoles and handhelds by different manufacturers and I like'em all. I have yet to find one that I totally hate. If declaring my enjoyment a product regardless of it manufacture makes me a "Nintendie" and "Lame" thats fine by me. Yes I like Nintendo but I also have 2 playstations, a Dreamcast, I'm saving for an x-box and a PSP and I have about 20 other older systems I very much enjoy. There are things I like and dislike about all of them I'm sorry that offends some people.
And I still see no problem with pointing out what you think a systems weak points are or what you don't like about it. I think the DS would be better with an anolog stick and a thouch screen, I also think the PSP's analog could have been much much better. Just opinions.
This is just how I feel. It's not meant to be rude.

I like more than one console as well, that's not the point. We have Nintendo products, Sony products, Sega products, Atari products, etc.... including our Microsoft consoles. The problem is the unending gang up by certain people if someone offers an opposing viewpoint. Nova is probably the most abrasive person on this board (sorry ianoid) and its probably his past behavior that clouds everyone's opinion of him and his posts, he deserves what he gets, but responding back to him caustically just encourages him. Which also means no one person is to blame for the deterioration of a thread. I mean look at the first 5 posts. No Nova in any of them. And all he said was the DS was a mess, not an overly harsh evaluation, but some just had to take it personally and get the thread unraveling.
As to whether the handheld market can support competition... I guess it had better because it would be very bad business on the part of Sony and/or Microsoft to miss out on that money-maker. Nintendo either steps up or steps out, just like Sega. Nintendo's problem is that they are catering to a niche of loyal gamers, who won't always be around. If Nintendo was my company of choice I'd be more pissed at them that they are dragging their feet, then at the people who point out they are dragging their feet. The gaming market has completely changed since we were kids, and even if Nintendo recognizes it, they sure as hell don't want to change with it. Some might not like to think about the business side of things, but that's what is going to affect the choices you'll have, so you might want to ponder it if just a little bit, rather than taking every negative comment about Nintendo (or Sony or Microsoft )as a personal attack.

If you're playing to rank down you can come join our clan GFY. If you're ranking up you can GFY.
Halo 2 Live! is so much more enjoyable if you don't care about that stupid number next to your tag. -
I've been watching Starscream play this game this week, and my stomach is a mess. I could never play this game.
But I do have a question - what in the world do you need a PDA in Hell for?

Everyone should pretty much know that Nova is not my favorite person, and I do think he behaves like "an ass" most of the time, however this thread was started with the intention of slamming the PSP. No matter how flowery the language the intention was clear. This is the same crap that happens whenever a dissenting voice comes into a thread populated with Nintendo-philes. Whether its an Xbox thread the Nintendies jump into, a Sony thread or a Nintendo thread one of them started no one is allowed to offer an opposing view and have it discussed. They're right, everyone else is wrong, and after they've made their jabs, the obligatory "Every system is good, why can't we all just get along?" post comes along, in a lame attempt to prove how open-minded Nintendies are. No one's buying it but the Nintendo-philes, who'll buy anything.
Rhindle's posts that Nintendo always does what they say they will do was completely skipped over. Shall I list the ways they have said they would do something and then never followed through? Why bother, because figgler or Rhindle or some other Nintendo-phile will just come up with some completely fallacious rebuttal and the rest will start with the "Why don't you leave this thread?" misdirections.
It's great you love Nintendo, its great you love the DS, but other people see problems with it. It doesn't mean the PSP is the end all be all, but Nova had some valid points. If you can't see that maybe YOU have no business posting in the forum.

That's the problem. Sony really fucked up the marketing. Those 20 units should have been delivered to EB where they would have sold instead of being sent to the big boxes where grandma and grandpa don't give a damn.Look at the hidden news story there: the dedicated video gaming retailers have scored a huge victory. The big boxes would love to shut them out of the market, yet the PSP has proven that serious gamers prefer to shop at a serious gaming store. You would all be smart to stick a little money into one or two of these stocks. I guarantee that the gaming industry as a whole is rethinking their future distribution strategy.
It's clear that the PSP will not make a dent in the music or movie market as Sony intended. They created a kick-ass game machine, and that is why this system will succeed. Whether you want one or not, it's a victory for gamers all around. The companies have been sent a strong message that video gamers don't give a damn about any features other than video games.
The serious gaming stores also have an advantage due to the fact that they accept trade-ins. If you can knock $100 of the cost of the unit by trading in games and hardware it makes the PSP a better bet.
I wonder what would have happened, though, if the PSP would have come out around Christmas, a time when people are more willing to pay for big ticket items. There probably would have been a lot less units hanging around on Wal-Mart's shelves. You can't ignore timing and claim distribution as the sole determining factor in marketing trends. Your point has validity, but I think mostly in isolation.

It is amazing there are so many seers here!!!!!
You are being a blind fan-boy (fan-girl) for a possible new trend in games, but you can't see that the future of gaming will be online whether people like it or not? If things keep going the way they are, you won't even be able to play a one-player game without being connected. Consoles of the semi-near future will be connected all of the time and will use something like a cell phone connection that will work right out of the box. It will be great for some things and really shitty if we allow companies to wander down certain paths. This stuff involves all of us no matter how we play at this time.It will??!!?!?! Really??!! Wow, you are so knowledgeable and clairvoyant!
Games have always been about skill. Under this program, it will be about money. I don't think it's a crisis because I think this will fail miserably in the marketplace. It's fun to earn experience and find special items in dungeons. It's not fun to buy your way to success.NO!?? You don't say?!! Holy crap?!??! Wow, you are so knowledgeable and clairvoyant!
From the mouths of babes.... exactly the point, you people don't know anything so you just "irresponsibly" assume the worst.... I know why, do you?any sort of guess at this point would be irresponsible. -
This has nothing to do with the XBox. Where did I mention one thing about the Xbox?
Oh, really? Go back and read the title of the thread. I'm sure it's the main reason you decided to visit it iand post the melodramatic posts you did in the first place.
And I'm sure its the reason you did as well. Most people use the titles to determine if its a thread they'd be interested in, but I guess what I asked was "Where did I mention one thing about the Xbox?" If it makes you feel better go ahead and turn this into that, but don't lay it at my doorstep.

Does that shit feel good coming out your ass?
Having already proven yourself an ass, I guess you'd be most fit to answer that question.
Are you still here?
-
Or is it just because you don't like it? "I don't think its a good idea, so its a bad idea." Nice logic train you all are riding on.
Or is it that you didn't read what most other people here posted before getting on your high horse?

Nope I skipped most of the long assed posts because I can get the general gist of the shit from the first few negative sentences. Not to mention the fact that you all are talking about shit that's not even fucking out yet. Not to mention its typical AA fashion. The name should be changed to the "bitch and moan" forum.
You're talking all kinds of crap about this little thing increasing anti-social behavior in kids????? WTF does that even mean? Ok well let's do away with anything that doesn't force kids to spend every waking moment together so they're all socialized.
Like I said you sound like an old man. Didn't we have this discussion when movies were invented? Or was that radio? Or was that TV? Or was that cable? Or was that VCRs? Or was that heavy metal? Or was that rap? Or was that video games? Or was that the Internet? Guess not, guess its just microtransactions for online gaming that will just push youth over the edge into beings completely incapable of communicating with other human beings.....
You sound like someone who needs to rejoin reality. You keep complaining about how everyone's bitching. Why are you getting so upset over this? Are you Bill Gates? Everytime anyone says anything remotely bad about the Xbox, you fly off the handle. It's ONE fucking game system.
This has nothing to do with the XBox. Where did I mention one thing about the Xbox? This has to do with this being such a fucking horrible thing, when none of us has a damn clue what the fuck is going to happen with it. When have any of you been right about a single fucking prediction you've made about the gaming industry? I thought the industry was supposed to be dead and gone by now. Onlne gaming was supposed to do it. Pretty graphics were supposed to do it. Realistic games were supposed to do it. Movie-themed games were supposed to do it. Sega going under was supposed to do it. Sony was supposed to do it. Microsoft was certainly supposed to do it. It's ONE fucking accessory.

So you don't see it as a waste of money to buy something you'll never use????
No. I don't buy games that you can only play online, so therefore it's never a waste of money. If I couldn't play it offline, I wouldn't buy it. If it wasn't complete in the box when I bought it, I wouldn't buy it either. So yeah, I suppose I'll never have an X-Box 2, since that would be a waste of money since I'd never use it. Microtransactions are not me, I make one time only MACRO transactions.
Neither do I. Every game I own I can play on and offline, however I utilize both options. Get my money's worth, and what good is that broadband adapter if you don't play on-line? So you'll make a macro transaction and basically throw your money away. Why are you any better than someone who spends fi-ty cent on a pair of spinners for their Burnout 4 compact?
You all will spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on old games that will eventually rot in their cases, because everything's got a shelf life, probably most never get played or get very little play time, but you'll bad mouth this little accessory because it costs money????No, I'll badmouth it for the much better reason that it throws the whole idea of fair competitive gaming out the window. The rich get all the perks, and the kids who rent it from Blockbuster won't get shit unless they throw in "five free microtransactions per rent" - which still won't keep up with the rich boys and girls who can buy whatever they want whenever they want.
You don't even know that's how its going to be. That's the point, none of you have used it, its not even out yet, but you're making all kinds of assumptions.
Does that shit feel good coming out your ass?

Hey its Atari Kid i play Halo does anyone elseI apologize on behalf of all the retards here. Welcome to the board Atari kid. You'll have to forgive these guys, they've spent so much time playing video games they've never had time to learn manners.
Our family plays Halo a lot!
Are you still playing the first Halo, or are you talking about Halo 2? This last week I've been feeling quite nostalgic and wish we could get all our friends over for some old school system link Halo games. Live is great, but there's nothing like going downstairs to physically beat on the person who just sniped the crap out of you for 40 minutes!
-
The problem is, we should already have that stuff for free. We should already have more choices.
Wait, now you have to pay to save your game progress...... did you bitch about that when Sega, Sony and Nintendo decided to charge you to save your game? Why didn't that ruin the game industry? They used to let you put in a code to let you get to the point you last played, then they realized, "Hey we can charge these schmucks for this!"... and they gave you a memory card.... not included... that wasn't free......

-
That's why I don't game online now. I even have a broadband adapter and two Champions of Norrath games for PS2, and I still play the offline shit only.So you don't see it as a waste of money to buy something you'll never use????
You all will spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on old games that will eventually rot in their cases, because everything's got a shelf life, probably most never get played or get very little play time, but you'll bad mouth this little accessory because it costs money????
You read like a bunch of old men sitting around a chess table bitching about "them damn kids!"
Or is it just because you don't like it? "I don't think its a good idea, so its a bad idea." Nice logic train you all are riding on.
Most of you don't play on Live anyway so why do you really give a shit? Oh wait, it's a perfect oppurtunity for you to have an opinion and let everyone know what your opinion is on something you've never used and will never use.
Hey look ma, I can post on the Internet!!!

If you wanted a wide variety of games then you shouldn't have picked a Game Cube and you know that..First, I refuse to give MS any more money unless I absolutely have to, thus no Xbox
Secondly, at the time I didn't have enough for a PS 2
However, I have a GBA, so we'll see if its supported, or if htey're going with the DS (most likely)
If you bought a used Xbox then MS wouldn't get any of your money right?
