    is there a paddle on that thing?

     

    if not, then pretty much everyone would suck if they had to use a joystick

     

    No unfortunately there isn't a paddle on it. I was complaining about that.

    But it will be a challenge to overcome. THink how great I will be if I master that game with the joystick! :D

    EEWW!!

    Well this morning I think I have permanently damaged my thumb playing with my new toy. But I did flip Asteroids. That game is so addicting. :)

     

    And I still suck at Breakout. No hand-eye coordination, it's just sad.

    :(

    YES!

    I finally have the 10-in-1 Atari Joystick...

    albeit with no batteries at the present time,

    BUT

    tomorrow I will be beating some Centipede, kicking some Ass-teroid Ass, and most importantly unlocking some castles and running away from duck-like dragons!

    Basically, anything you buy with a rechargable battery should get a full charge first BEFORE you use it.  Not only will this give it the kind of long life you expect. but it also establishes the latency of the charge it will hold.  If you use something on a half-charge and then don't give it a full charge, you're actually shortening the life of the rechargeable.

     

    I actually learned this first hand with my cell phone. It got to the point that the battery would only last about 10-15 minutes before it went dead. Now I leave my new one on for hours to make sure all the charge is out before I recharge.

     

    And I am still debating with Starscream about getting my son the GBA-SP for his B-Day in April. (Mostly I want it to play the Castlevania games available :) )

    I've used both as DVD players. The PS2 menu is crap, playback is crap. I've had so many movies that wouldn't paly in that thing. I missed the end of Dogma because the thing froze up!

     

    The Xbox is better but, it still had some screw-ups.

    That's why I made Starscream hook up his extra DVD player to the big screen. It's a pain in the butt because it doesn't have a remote, (well it does but it's in the basement working the reciever down there) but I haven't had any problems with playback.

    Now I'm really worried about the eBay mentality. I'm also wondering if the winner payed w/ paypal which would eat up $0.32 of the $0.55 in fees. Add the eBay fees on top and you have a real money maker here.

     

    Maybe the seller has watched Superman 3 one too many times.. You know those pennies really add up...

    (later) I just looked at the last set of pics.  It looks "kiddie" for lack of a better description.  What is it with gaming companies lately trying to make their games look "cartoonish" with cel-shading or "cute"?  

     

    BTW, why did you guys think Pitfall 3D had bad controls?  It seemed okay to me.  Are you using the analog stick?

     

    Have you seen the cel shading in Jet Grind Radio or Jet Set Radio Future? That was one of the things that really caught my eye when the first one came out.

     

    And the controls aren't horrible in the 3D version, but they make the game a little difficult.

     

    I remember the first time I used the analog stick on the PS. I never thought I'd get the hang of it and always turned it off when I played games on the PS. I'd never used one before that. Now I hate using the pad controller... :)

    For any of you who wish you were an interior decorator (not that there's anything wrong with that), Sony of Japan's got something for you.... Maybe if you're lucky, Sony of Japan will send it in a plainly wrapped parcel, so it won't scream, "I love Bette Midler!" to everyone in your neighborhood.

    I just want to thank sonnenhexer for my Activision Anthology for the PS2. I've been playing it all weekend and having a blast!

     

    I finally got past level 7 on H.E.R.O. !!!! A big WOO HOO! 20 years in the making!

     

    And Spider Fighter never played it before and I am now totally addicted to it.

    Pitfall II what more can I say?

     

    Demon Attack.. :)

     

    Finally a PS2 game where the controls actually make the game easier for me to play.

    :D
