    I do not believe that you are wasting your time with the 2600, I believe that every serious Atari fan/gamer should have the 2600 in some form, the 5200 as well as the 7800.

     

    Some games from the 2600 carry over to the 5200 which is pretty neat really.

     

    Where as I seldom pull out a 2600 system, I do from time to time play 2600 games through the 52 /7800 consoles.

     

    No matter you decide on , this will not be a cheap hobby or path to travel down.

     

    My suggestion is spend a huge wad of money all at once and buy up as many boxed or loose carts as you can. When the economy swings 'round i believe much of this stuff will begin hitting astronomical numbers again.

     

    I think emulation & ROMS are much like pirating music from the net, you actually own nothing.

    Update to say that I just received my donor 5200 off of ebay.. I purchased this fully functional unit to complete my * numbered project.. I bought it for the top only .

     

    However, I think I am going to have to find another donor upper housing as this is hands down the cleanest used 5200 I have ever seen !!!. EP123 date coded 4 port, there is nary a blem to be found on it. absolutely no scratches or wear around the cart port. the storage door is in awesome condition.

     

    It would be sad to put a beater top on this unit and pop it on the bay.

     

    I thought my 1st l 4 port was clean, this one looks to have just been removed from the box in '82 !!

    $50 shipped was a steal !

     

    Black is such a b!tch to photograph...it really is 99.9% flawless

    Man ,there are a lot of buttons on that pizza .Does it come with the original manual ? That is assuming that it is CIB ?

    Okay Mark, I'll bite........I'd be happy to post your weird / rude PM exchange if you like ..I told you upfront that I was an Atari guy not a Coleco aficionado, I simply asked you what games were on the cart and you couldn't answer, so I simply said that I'd keep it mind.

     

    I passed on the console because your posting said you "may" have a power supply, then in your pm you stated that you did not. Without one , I have no interest period.

     

    You then accused me of saying that you were being "evasive" essentially hiding something, then claimed I was insulting you, WTF is that ? Holy thin skinned- hard sell...

     

    Hey, I admitted I "hastily" read your post thinking it was a package deal, brain fart , whatever. Get over it.

     

    If asking pertinent questions before sending you [a total stranger] money is time wasting or too laborious for you to answer, so much so as to comment about it in your sale thread, I'd surmise that this is why none of it has sold..
