I took a look at Walmart.com and found these:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-Large-Modular-Drawer-White-Case-of-3/44785825
Looking at the dimensions I'm guessing they would hold around 100 Atari carts. Yes, they are definitely way bigger than the unavailable AtariAge solution.
-
I believe the Atariage recommended storage solution is no longer available (they held 72 carts):
https://atariage.com/howto/storage_tips/LooseCarts.html
My goal is to find something similar in height for efficient cart storage without wasted head space in each drawer. A stackable drawer solution is what I believe I need and I'd like to go as high as I can in whatever solution I get to minimize floor footprint. The counter part is the need for stability and I'm on carpet which is a negative already. I would have had to go 7 or so high (I'm storing ~500 carts) of the above-mentioned containers but I think their footprint was wide enough to provide the needed stability.
I've read about folks using the small tint stacking drawer over at the containerstore.com which hold 34-36 carts (http://www.containerstore.com/s/storage/storage-drawers/small-tint-stacking-drawer/12d?productId=10008469). I'm a little nervous about the tipping potential if I go with 2 stacks of 7 high or so to fit all my carts and I'd prefer not to go 3 stacks of 4 or 5 as I'm wasting free available head space. Thus, for a solid footprint, I'd like something closer to 50-60 carts per container instead of 34.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have!

Alright! Mr. Kaboom! avatar doesn't get a vote in this matter, just like no one can ask me how much Midnight Magic is worth, and no one can ask how much Van Halen babies are worth....or something.
$25 for a boxed copy? Sealed? Seems high to me even if it's sealed but I guess I'll just say I hope they are worth that much. I can't go against my own hobby.

Price Inflation! My collecting of commons has finally paid off!

Ok. I have a near-perfect E.T. cartridge for sale....we'll start the bidding at $15!

This is somewhat of a pointless post but I'm pretty excited about coming to the convention this year so I'll post it anyway.
I'm from Illinois and tried to make VGS the last couple years and couldn't (not really any other classic gaming choices throughout the year for us Illinoisians). This will be the first gaming convention of my life and I've been collecting for 15-20 years so that's saying something.
Thanks for putting this together Dan!

One more:
"I really hate this 1-10 rarity numbering system! Why doesn't someone come out with an alphabetical list using pluses and minuses?"
-
How about:
"Why use price lists when you can write the price right on the cartridge!"

I would like to annouce that this is the perfect thread!!!!!!
Boy, I haven't posted in a while but I had to come out of the woodworks for this one!
I haven't spent much time playing Bumper Bash but I've broke a few joysticks playing Midnight Magic and Video Pinball! Many, many hours!

Here's a thread that I started back in July about Atari being on Antiques Roadshow:
http://www.atariage.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb...c&f=16&t=000647
And here's what PBS put on their website about it:

Hope this interests you guys!

Boy! I can't believe it's already that high and we don't even know what it is! I should be asking the seller for a royalty fee for pointing out the game to an interested group of collectors!

Can anyone shed some light on the weird looking Frogger Cartridge in this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...item=1293926345
Unfortunately, the picture is blurred but you can definitely tell it's not the typical Parker Brothers cartridge shape.

Al,
Then, your current rarity ratings are for the cartridge only? (Since you said the yellow boxing is less common for Fire Fighter yet the two entries have the same rarity of 3.)
Does this mean you'll eventually have a rarity rating on the boxes themselves completely independent of the game cartridge? For instance, maybe a really common game has a much rarer box than the game is? Maybe a game like Pole Position II for the 7800...since the game came for free with the system most people didn't get a box? A rarity list along that line?
I guess you could really get crazy though....you could have a rarity list for the manuals also....Activision's black and white versions versus the color manuals for instance!
It's obvious that this will be really involved when you open that can of worms! But it sounds like a really interesting undertaking!
Thx,
Midnight

Doing a search in the 2600 North America section, I noticed that the following games all have two entries with the same name, company, and label variation (same cart scan also). Just wondering if there is a difference between them:

Chase by Sears, Label Variation: Text
Dodge 'Em by Atari, Label Variation: Picture
Fire Fighter by Imagic, Label Variation: Picture
Math by Sears, Label Variation: Text

Outer Space by Sears, Label Variation: Text
Pong Sports by Sears, Label Variation: Text
Race by Sears, Label Variation: Text - 99821
Riddle of the Sphinx by Imagic, Label Variation: Picture

Before I started using the rarity list on AtariAge.com I used a list from: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcad...883/rarity.html
I did a comparison to see if they matched and these are the games that the other list claims exist and were not on Atariage's rarity list (19 in all). I'm not advocating his list, I just thought it might be interesting to find out why they made it on one list and not on the other:
Atlantis by Activision, Rarity: 4 out of 10, Est. value: $15
Demon Attack by Activision, Rarity: 4 out of 10, Est. value: $15
Moonsweeper by Activision, Rarity: 4 out of 10, Est. value: $10
Coke Wins! by Atari, Rarity: 10 out of 10, Est. value: $135
Ikari Warriors by Atari, Rarity: 7 out of 10, Est. value: $45
Pele's Championship soccer by Atari, Rarity: 5 out of 10, Est. value: $15
Rescue Bira Bira by Hozer Video, Rarity: 4 out of 10, Est. value: $20
SoundX (w/dazzle demo) by Hozer Video, Rarity: 4 out of 10, Est. value: $20
Video Time Machine by Hozer Video, Rarity: 3 out of 10, Est. value: $20
Bogey Blaster by Telegames, Rarity: 3 out of 10, Est. value: $13
Universal Chaos by Telegames, Rarity: 5 out of 10, Est. value: $25
Cabbage Patch kids day in park by Coleco, Rarity: 10 out of 10, Est. value: $125
Cathouse Blues/Philly Flasher by Playaround, Rarity: 6 out of 10, Est. value: $40
Impossible Game by Telesys, Rarity: 10 out of 10, Est. value: $105
Nexar by Spectravision, Rarity: 3 out of 10, Est. value: $7
Rush Hour by Commavid, Rarity: 10 out of 10, Est. value: $500
Snowplow by Sunrise, Rarity: 10 out of 10, Est. value: $165
Space Chase "monogrammed" by Apollo, Rarity: 9 out of 10, Est. value: $110
Stell-a-Sketch by Retroware, Rarity: 3 out of 10, Est. value: $17

A posting on the Digital Press site got me interested in this. I have always tried to check the BIN's but the auctions are never less than about an hour old when I can first see them. I try constantly reloading the page to see the new ones but when a new one pops up it's already an hour+ old.
But, for instance, this eBayer (http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1278061378) got Shuttle Orbiter within 5 minutes after the auction began!
I do know that different ways of searching can affect how quickly you see a new auction. For instance, if you use Browse->Video Games->Atari then you'll see new auctions quicker than if you type "Atari" in the search box. I've compared the two methods and consistently the Browse feature shows the newest auctions quicker.
Does anyone know (and willing to tell!) any better eBay searching techniques?
Thanks!

I was at Atari Gaming Headquarters website and was looking at the want list there:
http://www.atarihq.com/othersec/trade/wanted.html
They include the following games which I've heard different stories on whether they exist or not:
SUNRISE
=======
Glacier Patrol
Snowplow
Do they exist or not? Thanks!

I'm not sure if a label variation of this type is important but I have two Football games from the 5200, one with "Realsports Football" (1983 version) on the label and the other with just "Football" (1982 version) on the label.
I noticed the label in the guide says it's Silver 1 - "Football" so I thought maybe it was worth mentioning. I guess the box and instructions probably have the variations as well as I have a box with just "Football" and the box in the guide has "Realsports Football".
Lastly, I'd like to get a scan of the Football playbook. Will they be posted if they are submitted by someone?
Thanks!

Yeah, she had the games behind glass and I could only see about half of the titles and the others were more hidden. So as I'm standing there sweating it out waiting for her to help me my mind is just going a 100 mph thinking all the possibilities that they could be...only to find out they were all common titles.
But I'm still not dissapointed at all with my find. It's that rush that everyone on this message board knows....that's what I was looking for. Though I'd trade them in a second for Crazy Climber!
-
sorry, for the record, the 8th game was Realsports Baseball!

I started walking to the Salvation Army on my lunch hour once a week about a year ago in the hopes I'd find some old games and though none of them are rare I got 8 5200 games: Joust, Kangaroo, Super Breakout, Space Invaders, Defender, Football, and Pac-Man. Boxed with instructions, though they look like they went through World War 3, I got them for $1 each and my struggle has finally paid off.
I figured someone must have beat me to the rarer games but the lady said she had just put them out yesterday. I guess the original owner only was interested in Atari in it's early days and unfortunately for me wasn't still buying new games closer to the video game crash.....thus, no rare games. I guess it's sort of neat to embellish and make up a story to fit my find of the year (gasp! That's it???).

It's a damn shame. I really wish I could help.

Thanks for the thoughts. It's unfortunate to hear the old Iris units are gone forever! I will continue poking around and if I find anything I'll report back here to the masses.
I did find these Sterilite units below. I'll try to head over in the next few weeks for a closer look. They may not be as sturdy and they certainly don't look as slick as the old Iris units but it's my best lead at this point for a good carpet option. (If I was on floor I think I'd go with the smaller units from containerstore.com previously mentioned). If my estimates are correct, this unit could hold 54 carts but the ultimate test will be stacking them full 9 high and seeing if the bottom container still operates.
