  1. Take a look at this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...item=1266519728 I've never heard of the game Kingdom. Does anyone know anything about this game? It's actually in his picture between Night Driver and Pac Man (and he calls it Kingdom in his description also). It's in a gray box. Maybe someone knows something about it since someone already used the BIN! Sounds like I may have missed a good one there!
  2. Take a look at this eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...item=1261557372 Take a look at the bottom picture with Keystone Kapers. This might be a really pointless question but does anyone know if there's any significance to the "N" sticker on the cartridge? If nothing else, it looks like it's been on the game for a while because it has hints of that antiplaque! Are there times when stickers like that on seemingly common games could make the game special?
  3. 1. Midnight Magic (I guess you could have predicted that one) 2. Adventure 3. Warlords (with 4 people)
  4. Wow, I've started off quite the discussion! I thought it was pretty neat seeing all those rare cartridges. And, yes, Tempest, the guy on the right definitely looks like a massive tool. I'd really like to see the interview. I'll look into finding out which show the interview was done on. They might show reruns or something. I'd like to know the conversation surrounding the cartridge with the label ripped off. [ 08-01-2001: Message edited by: Midnight ]
  5. I don't know if this is old news to everyone but it looks like Atari made it's way onto Antiques Roadshow sometime back. See for yourself: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/roadshow/app...me52/index.html Just thought it was interesting so I'd pass it on. Cheers...
  6. Sorry about that....the website is: www.atarifun.com
  7. Go to this website and click on "Atari's Timeline", go down to "1983 - ...And All Fall Down" and it says: "Atari closes its El Paso manufacturing plant. Fourteen trailer trucks filled with unsold games are dumped in an Alamorgordo, New Mexico landfill and buried in concrete. Atari claims the games were defective." I have no idea how accurate this statement is since I don't know the author of the website but you might try emailing them and asking them where they got their info. I also wondered about this and thought that someone with a lot of time and energy (and money) on their hands could really make this a real-life rescue mission! Cheers...
  8. Ok, I won't go there anymore! But on the mini golf front, I'll definitely have to try out the rom! Thanks!
  9. Thanks for your ideas! I'm not sure if the plastic bags would be good for me since I tend to play several of them every day? But the plastic containers and trading card boxes are definitely better than my flimsy shoe boxes! The one thing that gets really annoying with the shoe boxes is that I like to have everything organized and even some of the bigger manufacturer's cartridges in alphabetical order. And if you get a new cartridge then all the others have to move to allow space for the new cartridge. That gets kind of annoying after a while! Fortunately (actually unfortunately) I don't come across as many new cartridges to add to my collection as I used to!
  10. Just wondering how others keep their Atari cartridges organized. The only way I've ever used is to keep them in shoe boxes. But after you get a couple hundred cartridges, you have to have quite a few boxes to hold all the carts! Anyone have any unique ideas? .
  11. I just came across his website one day and didn't really understand what he was trying to do. They weren't really reviews, just weird comments....I thought he was making fun of people who write reviews or something. I haven't been on these message boards other than recently so I probably haven't heard everything that went on. I'd like to find some message board archives to get myself up to date on the whole thing which sounds interesting. I'm way out of the loop on this one! Oh, and I definitely agree that mini golf doesn't get the attention that it should.
  12. And by the way, the famous Robsterman gave the game a 70/100 with the indepth comment: "Not a bad game of golf, if you like the sport, that is, which I don’t." So come on! How can you ignore that!!! Not to give the guy too much crap, he's put effort into a web page to promote retrogaming. Does everyone know about his website?
  13. Oops! I did mean Mini-golf. Thanks for jogging my memory so I could set the record straight! But I don't think Golf was as bad of a game as you make it out to be! What's a good sports game made in the early Atari days? Homerun? Football? Golf? Video Olympics? Basketball? I guess they'd all be pretty bad from a neutral standpoint. Maybe I would prefer Realsports Football to Football today, but I definitely have spent time enjoying all those games when it was their time.
  14. I am now happy (back then it wasn't as cool to say this) to say that I never put my atari in the closet to play another system! The only reason it eventually went into the closet was when I went to college in 1993. But since I'm out of college it's back out with avengence. Just now, I've been starting to collect other systems along with my atari!
  15. Wow, I really have sparked off quite the conversation here! I don't think I'd ever buy a game off eBay just because it has a different label than the game I have has. But when I'm lucky enough to see games at a garage sale (and I haven't been in about a month now), I want to buy them all regardless of whether I have the exact game already. But then when I'd go to sell/trade my duplicates, I'd definitely lean towards getting rid of exact duplicates and would lean towards saving games with different label versions. Just a thought. I have been collecting Atari games since I was a kid (I'm 26 now). I'm the original owner of many of my games. As the stores in the early 90's slowly stopped carrying the games, I started going to garage sales and picking them up. Then I stopped collecting them from about 93 thru 98 (my college years) and I've been back in the swing of things in the last couple years now. For my 2600, I have 233 non-duplicate games and 63 duplicates. I know that's not nearly the impressive collections that many have today but I just love playing the old games! Not sure why I just launched into this rambling but I think it's just really great being able to talk to so many other retrogaming fans at the same time.....somebody who will appreciate when I say I have about 300 atari games. And for the record, I'd say my favorite games for the 2600 would be Midnight Magic, Golf and Adventure!
  16. Thanks! It's interesting that the creator of the rarity list at http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcad...883/rarity.html must really believe that Submarine Commander was made by Atari and Sears. He has Sear's version with an estimated value of $35 and Atari's version with an estimated value of $75!!! I'll email him and let him know of the error on his list.
  17. Chess by Sears Submarine Commander by Atari I have been using a rarity list I got from: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcad...883/rarity.html That list contains those two carts but they aren't listed here. The other list could very well be wrong but just wanted to bring it up in the message board to see if anyone knew. Unfortunately, I don't own either so I can't say whether they exist or not.
