Man, I'm having a hard time finding an old modem with phone cups for a low price. You think they'd be dime a dozen since they have no use anymore.

  Acoustic couplers weren't very common, there wasn't much to dial up to way back then. Then they went through a period of uselessess, where most people would have thrown them away. Good luck on your quest.

  Its not as much that there wasn't much to dial into, it was more that the coupler had a short life, as plug in modems replaced them fairly quickly as modem speeds increased.
