  1. I just picked it up while running errands, I'll try it tonight after class. The box has definitely seen better days but its got all the little inserts in it still. It was funny I got into a conversation with the owner of the store about the Lynx and he said he thinks I'm likely the only person in the area who plays one since I'm the only person to ever come into the store and look at their Lynx games which he said they've had sitting on the shelf for a very long time.
  2. I know its a point and click but I'm actually am a big fan of point and click adventure games. I loved the original Myst and even more so its sequel Riven. I also love the old Lucas Arts point and click games like Sam & Max Hit the Road, Day of the Tentacle, The Dig and so on. I was actually thinking I'd go grab Robotron from them today, I looked it up online and it doesn't look like I could get it cheaper anyways so even if I don't like it it won't have cost me a lot out of pocket.
  3. Any chance you could tell from looking at the pictures in the links if the boxed one is the smaller one or the larger one? Personally I would get the large Lynx kit case, it holds anything and everything regarding Lynx items. I keep my entire Lynx collection inside one of those. The Pouch you want is cheaper, but isn't adequate to hold very much stuff, and it doesn't have the padding that the big case does. Large Lynx Kit Case eBay Auction -- Item Number: 140505532398 I'm planning on getting one of those cases eventually but I worry about the size of it. I'm planning on actually taking my Lynx with my when I go on vacation later this year for the flight portion of it. The large carrying cases looks too large to take on board since I'll already be carrying my usual carry on bag. What are the dimensions of the larger one?
  4. Thats a game I keep seeing mentioned a lot while looking for good games. And from watching videos of it and reading about it it does sound and look like a lot of fun. Not having much luck finding a boxed copy though, I know its not really necessary to get a boxed one but I enjoy looking at the artwork, reading the back and reading through the manuals for games. Plus its nice to have a place to safely store the carts.
  5. Thanks. I'm actually planning on buying a few of those infact. I'm going to buy Toki, Dracula the Undead, Shadow of the Beast as well as a game that looks interesting to me, Todd's Adventures in Slimeworld. Anyone have any experience with that one? Robotron I'm also thinking about as there is a local vintage game store that has a boxed copy for 5 dollars.
  6. I'm not to tech savy when it comes to old systems unfortunately, but when ever possible I try to get them working somehow before just buying a new one. I've only ever gotten 2 consoles working again though trial and error. One was when my NES stopped working. I opened it up and did my best to clean the contacts rather then just replace them, and amazingly I got it working. The other was when my PS2 started having a lot of disk read errors. So I opened it up cleaned out all the dust and carefully cleaned the laser and what do you know, it fixed it! The only other thing I've done was Frankenstein together some controllers in various states of breakage, managed to get one good working one out of 3 busted controls. Recently I had my Virtual Boy start suffering the ribbon cable connection problem they all eventually suffer. Rather then doing the oven method to reconnect it I wanted a permanent solution and found one. Unfortunately the soldering job it required to fix it was WAY beyond my very limited soldering experience. Luckily though I found a guy in The Netherlands through a VB forum whom could and was willing to do it for me. The fixed displays should be arriving any day. I'll be glad to have the old eye searer working again.
  7. If your not interested in the DSi's capabilities or the upcoming 3DS, personally I'd highly recommend the very first DS, the bulkier silver ones. The DS lites are nice and all but they just aren't as durable. I've had mine fall off shelves and suffer no damage at all but I'd seen my nephews drop their DS lites while holding them and seen those crack from a substantially less serious drop.
  8. I'd highly recommend Need For Speed Shift. Its seemingly much more realistic then any of the other NFS games but its still plenty arcady and the best part is driving 200mph feels like your going 200mph. Its very loud, very frantic, and the cockpit view is to die for, the camera reacts to every turn and bump in the road unlike most games with a cockpit view where its rock solid and fixed. It really adds to the sensation that you are driving an extremely high performance car. Once you get used to them, the faster cars like the Pagani Zonda R, are fairly easy to control but the first time you try it(assuming you race like I do with all assists off) you are going to go flying out of control and plowing into a wall. Which also really ads to the feeling your driving an extremely fast car, something sims like Forza or GT just can't do until you get into the R1 class.
  9. I've only ever used a few third party cards(long ago, don't remember who made them) and noticed the same thing. IMO the original Sony cards are your best bet unless you have a much higher capacity card in which case I'd say the wait would be worth it personally. It sucks having to delete a save to play another game.
  10. Second on Borderlands especially if you have someone to play it with. Its a lot more fun with multiple people.

    Shanghai

Cleared 2 boards last night, first time I've managed to clear any. I cleared the Butterfly and the Bat.
  12. I really want to preorder one but am broke at the moment, thanks in part to having recently bought my Lynx II + games as well as having to drop $45 to get my Virtual Boys displays repaired.
  13. Any chance you could tell from looking at the pictures in the links if the boxed one is the smaller one or the larger one?
  14. Ok good to know they are the same. I'm kind of wierd and a perfectionist with everything so I'd have been annoyed with myself for getting the wrong case even if it fit fine.
  15. So I'm planning on buying a carrying case for my Lynx II but from looking at the listings I'm seeing on ebay I'm rather confused as to what I'd be getting. I want to get the smaller pouch design rather then the big case but I'm seeing 2 different types of them on ebay and am not sure whats correct. I was planning on buying a brand new boxed one from these guys. They claim its for the Lynx II. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 370483126205 But then I noticed this case, also claiming to be for the Lynx II for sale and noticed it looked quite a bit different. It appears to be much shorter then the picture on the box for the case in the other listing. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 300522808454 Any help would be appreciated. The 2nd link is the only shorter looking case I'm seeing atm on ebay and I'd buy it right now if it wasn't for the fact that I'd much rather have a boxed one. Bt if it is in fact harder to find that style of case for the Lynx II and the seller of the boxed one is wrong then I will buy the loose one.
  16. Nintendo 64. Named to show off itself as a 64-bit console. Nintendo Virtual Boy. Pretty obvious one like the one above, was a virtual reality system created by the same man that created the Game Boy.
  17. I figured that out by accident last night when killing the monsters that are invulnerable to lasers. I should have figured that one out easier seeing as blowing up those kinds of blocks for crystals was how you solve the level right before it. lmao
  18. Can anyone tell me what the trick is to beat Easy Trap of Doom in Crystal Mines II? I've played the level a bunch of times and can't clear it, I destroy and collect everything on the screen and then have no exit. Whats the trick?
  19. I highly recommend the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat. They take place in an alternate history Ukraine in the area around the Chernobyl NPP. In it the radiation from the disaster has wrecked havoc on the surrounding area and caused all sorts of bizarre spacial and physical anomalies as well as very extreme mutations of animals and people. They are all great FPS' and can be absolutely terrifying. They are amazingly atmospheric, they leave you feeling totally alone and vulnerable when your in the middle of no where. And you will damn near crap your pants when you hear some of the more dangerous enemies like the snorks because if they find you before you figure out where they are they will seriously mess you up and if your running on the hardest difficulty they will kill you. One of the things I really like about the series is you really feel like just a guy with a gun and not some super powered killing machine like you tend to be in most FPS. There is also a really good modding community for the game and they do all sorts of great mods, everything from simple skin swaps to total game overhauls. I've run through each of the games 3 times, once unmodified, then twice with game changing mods. Had just as much fun as I did the 3rd time as I did my first. http://www.stalker-game.com/
  20. Affraid I can't give you any real insight into the value as I'm not to sure but most of the time when I see a GG for sale its going for around $20-40, not to sure about the games or TV tuner. If your interested in selling it let me know, my brother has been talking recently about trying to get one and might be interested since your said yours is in good condition.
  21. Number 2 can be a lot of fun. Used to play all the time with my little bro when we played Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario.
  22. Tetris DX for Game Boy Color is by far my favorite version. It was the last Tetris I bought and I still play it quite frequently at night. Its just fantastic getting into the zone and knocking out a 1,000,000 - 5,000,000 score while watching TV, almost a meditative feeling when I break a million. I'm sure there are better versions but I love this one personally.
  23. Definitely give Lost Odyssey a chance, I'm playing through it right now at the momment and I can tell you for a fact its an amazing game! The combat system is nothing new, just simple turn based combat with a timed button release to increase your damage and all there the other typical things like magic casting. One thing thats unique as far as I'm aware as I can't recall a game ever letting me do it is it allowing you to change around your equipment in battle. Its a fantastic feature and really allows you to be very tactical in battle. Rather then having a single balanced set up against the most different types of enemies you can at the start or any other time to what will do the most damage then and their. The games story is also a real treat, its not over blown and difficult to follow like JRPGs can be at times, but it has a lot of depth. To get the most out of it though its essential that you read every one of the many optional memories that appear through out the game. They really add tremendously to character development.
  24. Wow! How on earth do you make that glitch happen? I play all the time on the Nurburgring and LeMans circuits and have never had that happen.
